Introduction

xxxxxAn unwilling transplant from Hawai'i by way of Chicago, Kelawini is trying to make the best of this newest twist in her story.

Description

xxxxxA native Hawaiian teenager with an oval face, light brown skin, dark brown hair with a very subtle wave, and nearly black eyes. She's tall for her age, solidly built, and curvy enough that she is often taken to be older than than she is.

Reputation

xxxxxA recent transfer to Xavier's, she arrived with her sister Nanami, who very notably looks nothing like her. Word is they were brought to the school via emergency teleportation, and an electromagnetic anomaly the day after their arrival that damaged and destroyed electronic devices has certainly stoked rumors about their powers.

History

xxxxxKelawini lived in Hilo all her life with her parents David and Kiana, her hānai sister Nanami, and Nanami's birth mother Luna. They were not well-off, but lived comfortably enough until the University of Hawaii essentially forced Kiana out for leading other faculty members in criticizing the construction of the TMT. Necessity and opportunity aligned to bring her family to Chicago in the winter of 2019. Right on the heels of this stressful life change, the COVID-19 pandemic struck, and both Māhoe sisters manifested in short order. Kelawini's technopathic abilities were, while at times distracting and at times ethically challenging, neither obvious nor dangerous. At least so she thought, until it started interacting with Nanami's electrokinesis. These disastrous interactions drew the attention of the sysadmin at Xavier's School, and brought the X-Men to their door, promising a place of safety and fellowship where the young mutants can learn how to control their powers and hopefully avoid more unsavory attention.

Powers

xxxxxShe can directly interface with electronic devices that are close enough to touch. This does not automatically or immediately tell her how the device *works*, but it sure helps. The efficiency with which she operates familiar hardware and software is far greater than working with mundane input and output, though she can still only process information she receives through her power at human brain access speeds. Her power has a synergistic interaction with her sister's when Nanami is within her range, and together they and perform immensely powerful feats of technological and electrical control--at least in theory. Right now it mainly just creates a runaway reaction that causes every electronic device within 300ft to go haywire before generating an EMP as it collapses, leaving devices shutdown, damaged, or even destroyed, and both sisters with splitting headaches.
