Xavier's school, dorm room of Tomas and Taylor

In the few days since he had gotten into his room, Tomas had made himself at home there. There was a tool box of electronic bits on the desk along with a laptop that was half taken apart, above the desk a picture of a black haired women hugging a taller man was pinned along with a few notes. He had put up a few posters, one of the Dead Kennedys, another of Black flag, and another of David Bowie. There was a suitcase with clothes in it, it looks like it was dug thru haphazardly. None of the items crossed the halfway point of the room thou it would appear Tomas was meticulous in not crossing into Taylor's space.

Tomas sat cross legged on his bed with his tablet in front of him, and a keyboard laid out on a video call with a women. He had a piece of toast in his hand and was eating it as he was on the call, there where also a few more piece on a plate on his nightstand, along with a salt shaker. "......I'm so happy for you buddy" the women on the tablet says "and i see you're getting enough to eat too" He nods and types a response on the keyboard grinning and taking another bite of toast.

With the limited stuff Taylor actually owned it seemed like his side of the room was just empty space besides his small book bag and his half attempt made up bed every morning. Given that the space never felt like his he spent as little amount of time in there as possible. that and he was kind of unsure how to navigate his roommate. The boy seemed a bit hesitant to open up to well anyone at least on campus that Taylor had noticed...

Taylor pushed open the door to his dorm after one of his last classes that ran later than he would have expected and was about to openly complain before he realized Tomas was on a call with someone he had never seen before, maybe his sister or... whatever, he smiled and gave a slight nod to the boy to acknowledge he was gonna be silent while he was on the call and flopped down on his bed with a groan. Glancing over at Tomas every so often.

"well I think I'm going to let you get going Tommy " said the women Tomas removed his hands from the keyboard and signed "I love you" to the women "I love you, goodbye" signed the women back and hung up. Tomas closed the tablet and looked up at his Roommate with a sheepish grin, and gave him a small wave.

Taylor went right into what he's been holding in for awhile as soon as Tomas gave him a wave. "Why am I taking an English class? I know English, I don't need to know what an adverb is, I just talk ya know?" Taylor groaned before realizing that what he said might have been insensitive. "not that not talking doesn't mean you don't know English..." he eyed Tomas to see if he had said something dumb. He'd already gotten his nose fractured by doing something stupid he didn't need anymore injuries for saying something stupid. "I mean... You get what I'm saying!"

Tomas scooted forward on the bed a bit, not reacting negatively but instead chuckling a bit. He put his tablet on his lap, and started typing on it, the tablet dictated: " NO I DO NOT THINK I WOULD KNOW HOW TO JUST TALK, AND YES I KNOW THAT THAT DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU DON'T KNOW ENGLISH, HA HA, DO NOT WORRY I UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU MEAN" He grinned a bit as the tablet spoke

Taylor sighed once the boy smiled, thank god he didn't perceive it the way it came off. "Wonderful so you understands and agree that English is a pointless class. I mean we have mutations... why are we taking classes anyway? Shouldn't we just focus on using our abilities?" He asked waiting for Tomas to type his response.

Tomas shook his head in disagreement and typed, "NO I BELIEVE ENGLISH IS STILL IMPORTANT. THERE IS MORE TO ENGLISH THEN TALKING. WE HAVE TO LEARN HOW TO WRITE AND READ AND SUCH. SAME GOES FOR THE REST OF OUR CLASSES, WE HAVE TO STILL LEARN NORMAL HIGH SCHOOL STUFF. THE POWERS TRAINING IS MORE SECONDARY. " He grabbed another piece of toast from the plate and even thou the toast was buttered he sprinkled some salt on it and took a bite.

Taylor shrugged in bliss ignoring the fact that education was important. "Personally I would rather be able to master my powers than learn what a punnet square is or whatever, but ya know that's just me." Taylor confessed. Growing up in the bayou didn't really give much importance to school. "School really isn't my thing to start off with, it's really more of a smart person thing." he joked

Tomas nodded a bit understanding then shrugged. he typed on the tablet "WHY DO YOU WANT TO FOCUS ON YOUR POWERS??" he typed seemingly ignoring the fact that Taylor was green.

"Why don't you?" Taylor asked looking at his roommate quizzically. "Like you honestly think you have whatever you do mastered? I think it would be cool to able to join the x-men or whatever they call themselves now." Taylor had always been interested in that big group, it would have been. big f you to his parents who said he would be nothing all while being a bad ass while doing it.

Tomas rubbed his neck nervously a bit causing the light on his nightstand to flicker. He typed "WELL YES I WANT TO NOT YA KNOW BREAK STUFF LIKE I CURRENTLY DO, BUT I ALSO JUST WANT TO BE N..N..OR...NORm....normal" the tablet sounded like it glitched out a bit at the end. He sighed and nodded his head a bit seeming a little saddened.

Taylor bit the inside of his cheek feeling he hit a rough patch in the conversation. Maybe he shouldn't have brought up this conversation. Taylor gave up a long time of ever being normal, It just wasn't in his genetics. Tomas at least looked normal enough to him, besides the whole mute part at least. Even than he knew that it was still hard not being able to be normal despite just looking the part... "Yeah, same here." Taylor added after a bit before he quickly wanted to change the subject. "Who were you talking to when I walked in?" he asked

Tomas nodded a bit, then once Taylor changed the subject he felt relived, the light stopped flickering because of this. He grinned and typed "THAT WAS MY AUNT, SHE WAS CHECKING IN MAKING SURE I WAS SETTLING IN, SHE IS NICE"

Taylor smiled slightly "That's good! and are you? settling in ya know nicely?" He asked because obviously Taylor wasn't. He kind of missed the swamp and the city streets... All the comfort of the place made him uneasy sometime.

Tomas shrugged and made a "so so" gesture with his hand before sprinkling more salt on the toast and taking a large bite. He then typing on his tablet "IT IS DIFFERENT THEN MY OLD SCHOOL, THOU EVERYONE IS NICER HERE, SO THAT IS GOOD, HOW ABOUT YOU?"

Taylor mimicked the same gesture that Tomas had made with his hands. "You take the good and the bad ya know" he smiled remaining positive still. The school wasn't horrible, he could do without the learning of course, and the territorial girls that seemed to monitor the outside.

Tomas nodded a bit and let out a small sigh. He typed "DO YOU HAVE FAMILY? LIKE A GUARDIAN OR SOMEONE??" avoiding the words mother or father for personal reasons.

Taylor's smile faded slightly but was quickly replaced by his grin, "Yeah of course, doesn't everyone?" he said quietly. "They are just ya know... back in Louisiana... at my house..." he said slowly. He used the word house lightly because you could barely call what his parents lived in as such but that wasn't his problem.

Tomas let out an audible "hm" sound and typed "MOST PEOPLE DO I GUESS SO. YOU GONNA CALL THEM? CANT TELL THEM EVERYTHING BUT SOME OF IT AT LEAST RIGHT?"

Taylor hummed trying to think of a response to get out of his stupid lie but his mind blanked, "I don't have anyway to call them. No phone, my parents are Amish." he said quickly hoping that would cover his ass slightly for the time being.

Tomas let out a chuckle and typed " THAT IS FUNNY YOU ARE AMISH AND I BLOW UP ELECTRONICS, THERE HAS GOT TO BE IRONY THERE? "

Taylor sighed in relief. "It must be fate than!" he smiled laying back down on his bed fully. "The Amish would love you to be honest, you'd fit in nicely I think."

Tomas nodded and laid back a bit to and moved the tablet onto his chest so he could still use it. "THAT WOULD BE A FIRST HA HA, FITTING IT THAT IS"

Taylor quickly shook his head, "Nah, not worth it, trust me." He closed his eyes for awhile before taking off his shirt and climbing under the covers of his bed. "I think i'm going to head to bed..." he said rolling over to his side.

Tomas nodded "GOODNIGHT" he typed before setting his tablet on the nightstand to charge. He grabbed the last piece of toast and covered it in salt before eating it. After he was finished he took off his shirt and tossed it to the side leaving just a necklace on, a chain with a gold wedding ring on it. He got under the covers and waved a bit at Taylor before turning over to sleep.
