History

xxxxx Starting November 25, 2017, people across Manhattan start noticing a subtle muffling of sound. Though barely perceptible at first, it quickly grew strong enough to interfer with spoken communication, among other things. The effect seems to grow in the presence of loud noises, though, as it strengthens, even faint noises grow steadily fainter.
