DO YOU REALLY THINK IM CREEPY?

Location

<XAV> Treehouse - Xs Grounds

Built by enterprising students of yesteryear, this treehouse has weathered generations of Xaviers' students coming up here to study -- or escape from studying. A cozy retreat, its wood planks are sturdy and well-sanded, fit snug together to keep out draft. Snacks occasionally find their way up here, and the roof keeps the rain off well enough to pass a night -- so long as the teachers don't catch any students at it. For anyone agile enough to make the jump, a lucky leap just might carry them from here to the school rooftop, so long as they're careful of the drop...

It was a cool crisp fall evening and Tomas was on his evening walk, a clear plastic cup of salt water in one hand and his other hand in his hoodie pocket. For once he didn't have his earbuds in, but just dangling from his shirt collar. As he walked along kicking his feet a bit he came across the school's tree house, he looked it up and down and nodded, deciding to climb it and see what was up there, he finished off his salt water, and put the cup in his satchel bag before tightening the bag straps to make sure they where secure , then he began his assent.

The treehouse is occupied already, another boy already inside and making his way through some chemistry homework. Gaétan has on a warm sweater, a thermos at his side, headphones on his head. He glances up, pencil freezing over his paper as he spies Tomas. There's a long beat of hesitation before he shoves his headphones back off his head to hang around his neck. Another pause. He taps the eraser of his pencil rapidly against the textbook page. "-- Hey."

Tomas reached the top of the treehouse and saw the other student, not seeing who it was he entered the tree house, figuring it was just someone hanging out up there. He then noticed who it was, and in response to the student's greeting Tomas backed up into the opposite end of the treehouse, shaking his head in disapproval.

Gaétan's expression can't exactly be said to be pleased, either, a small tightening of shoulders, a faint press of lips that only grows as Tomas backs away. "Nobody's locked you in here." His voice is just a little dry, his eyes dropping back to his work. After a moment, the taptaptap of his pencil ceases. He's no less tense when he looks back up. "Look," he starts, more simply, "I'm sorry about the other day, okay? I shouldn't have snapped at you. I was having kind of a -- day and I shouldn't have taken it out on you."

Tomas looked away avoiding Gaetan's gaze as he was talking. He took his necklace out from under his shirt and chewed on it as he pulled out his phone and stared typing: "OKAY, IT IS FINE, SOMETIMES THINGS HAPPEN. IM SORRY BUT DO YOU REALLY THINK IM CREEPY?, I HAVE BEEN MULING IT OVER".

"Uh --" Gaétan's eyes widen, his fingers closing tighter around his pencil. "Does it really matter what I think?"

Tomas looks down and fidgets with his fingers before typing more: "YES, IT DOES, I DO NOT WANNA COME ACROSS AS CREEPY. IF YOU ARE WILLING TO SAY IT, I AM SURE OTHERS THINK IT"

Gaétan presses his lips thin again, his eyes dropping back to his homework. "Yeah," he replies, "it's really creepy to just wander around staring at people. Pretty much nobody enjoys that."

Tomas sighs and nods before typing again: "OKAY, I WILL TRY TO BE MORE SOCIAL? AND INTERACT WITH PEOPLE. SORRY" he lets out another sigh still avoiding looking at Gaetan

"I don't know what you're apologizing to me for," Gaétan answers with a very small shrug. "But -- good luck with that, then." Though his eyes are still fixed down on his work, he hasn't started writing again. "It probably helps to like. I don't know. Actually take an interest in people? Just staring at people isn't going to tell you all that much if you don't..."

He trails off momentarily, hesitant before finishing: "Care enough to get to know them? To learn really basic things. Like your creeper roommate isn't even Amish. People do want to be seen, you know. Just not --" He gestures vaguely toward Tomas. "Necessarily through that kind of lens."

Tomas sighs and types more: "I KNOW HES NOT, I TOOK YOUR ADVISE AND DID RESEARCH, AND HE DOESNT PRACTICE ANYTHING AN AMISH WOULD, I STILL HAVENT TALKED WITH HIM ABOUT IT" he rubbed the back of his neck "EVEN THOU IT WAS DELIVERED LOUDLY, WHICH I UNDERSTAND, I DID HEAR YOU. BUT YEA GOOD ADVISE THANK YOU"

"Sure." Gaétan flicks his thumb against the barrel of his pencil. "And sorry. Again." Now he does finally put pencil back to paper, his other hand curled tight against his knee. "I'm gonna -- get back to my homework. I'll, uh..." His brows scrunch, briefly. "See you 'round?"

Tomas scoots closer to Gaetan and types: "IM SORRY TO KEEP BOTHERING, CAN I ASK WHY YOU WHERE ANGRY THE OTHER DAY?"

Gaétan blinks slowly, his shoulders tensing back up as Tomas scoots closer. His eyes lift from his page, slow as well. "Sorry," he says, mild, "when I said you should take more interest in people, I kind of meant you should start with your friends."

Tomas nods and scoots away towards the exit, typing: "OKAY, MABYE ONE DAY WE COULD BE FRIENDS" Before climbing down.
