Perry Stanton's an easygoing kid who laughs at almost everything. He's a little too self-involved to actually care about other people's angst past having a go at jollying them out of it, but is selfless enough to intervene in bullying scenarios on the side of the victim. He has an ego of cast iron, and tends to dismiss anyone who doesn't like him as having no taste and not being worth his time. He's very intelligent, but only gets average grades; in his mental hierarchy of 'what is worth spending whole minutes of my life on', making music ranks rather higher than schoolwork.
History
Stanton's life, up until very recently, has been a bed of roses. Now he's found a few briars, that's all. The kid was a millennial baby to a loving middle class couple in Hackney. The youngest of four in a family that really didn't fight amongst themselves, he got babied all the way. His parents and his siblings are all ridiculously talented at something or other, and his main focus has always been music-- something his parents supported wholly. He was popular in school without realizing it; he's had a string of girlfriends over the last couple of years, and he's always been in bands. Uneventful, routine, with only the usual growing pains physically, mentally, and emotionally. Until he got really, really engrossed in making a dubstep remix of some acoustic recording of his from when he was thirteen or so. When he got a jolt of adrenaline from realising he hadn't actually plugged his beatpad into the power supply, he shorted out the entire suburb's electricity, starting a few fires in the process and causing those ridiculous green flashes of light from transformers blowing. Obviously, the only thing for it was for him take Moira MacTaggart's offer to send him to a 'special' school in the States, for mutant kids, since it was quickest for learning how *not* to short out expensive electronics. The only thing that actually upsets him? In the whole ordeal of manifesting powers and causing a ruckus and getting slapped with an ASBO for killing the town's power and uprooting his life to move into a school full of strangers in another country? The only damn thing that upsets him is that he lost the remix he was working on at the time. He hasn't been able to make it sound that good since.
Powers
Stanton's mutant ability is the generation, control, and absorption of electricity. He's not that great with the control part; he's too new at it to even be able to control the generation or absorption. And if he gets a sudden surprise while he's 'in the zone', or turns around and sees a truck bearing down on him, or falls out of bed -- anything that'd jolt someone with adrenaline -- he has *no* control. He'll either blow circuits or drain them all at once. So yeah, while it's a potentially awesome power, he's going to need to work on it a lot. (Which is aggravating. Because it's not music. Training is wasting time he could be using for ACOUSTEP.) Once he's got a better handle on it, he'll be capable of the Palpatine Manuever (ranged zorch), the Vulcan Nerve Pinch (tactile knockout zorch), the Faraday Cage (telepathy-resistant buckysphere), the FCC Nightmare (whackadoo level comms interference), and the SHAZAM! (intercept and absorb a bolt of lightning with no problems). Also whatever anyone else shows him.
