Introduction xxxxxHerkel has his eye on nothing less than making sure mutants replace humans over the next few generations without a massacre on either side. He isn't sure how, or with whom, but that's the weight on his shoulders. History xxxxxHerkel grew up in a family of PhDs. For them arguing for hours over how to split a hair was nothing unusual, nor was travelling the globe. The fabric of the family was soaked in what could be described as a modern version of noblesse oblige. Herkel bucked the family tradition: he went broad instead of deep. He got degrees in classics, anthropology, philosophy, chemistry, computer science, and economics. After a fight over when he was going to "get serious" and choose a specialty he started a business, and was relieved when he was able to sell it for a modest amount. On the back of that he got fit for the first time in his life, and hung out with survivalists for a couple of years. His power, and what it might mean, hung over him like a black cloud. He learnt how to build a gun with a lathe, and was one of the leading names in getting the "Holocaust Education and Avoidance Pod" to prototype. The company he was keeping got a little too crazy, and he left that circle, but not before getting on a few watch lists. When New York went down he backpacked in to do research at ground level. One thing he's learnt is how to live cheap. Powers xxxxxHerkel can bring to life small and fragile inanimate things to serve him in their idiot way, if they are not distracted by spreading their infection to other similar objects.
