History xxxxxBorn physically mutated to a surprisingly understanding family of farmers and trappers outside of Frenchville, Maine. Gregarious, Dorian never wanted for playmates, despite the misgivings of his friend's parents about letting their child play with a mutant. Sitting still for school did not mesh well with Dorian's personality or mutation, and he was expelled just weeks into Second Grade. His desperate parents didn't know what they were doing when they signed him up to participate in a study somewhere in the city. They haven't given up hope that they will find him. Dorian's life since he was taken has been an odd mix of hellish treatment and relative comfort, with his first few years in the lab spent in almost complete isolation, save for the silent medical personnel. He doesn't have many pleasant memories, or many intact memories, between the ages of 11 and 15. All this changed when a "new" Doctor took over his care. The teen, now desperate for any kind of positive attention and comfort attached to Doctor Kertis's perceived kindness almost immediately, exactly as she had planned. Dorian has been bounced around from subject to subject, told to play with them, help them relax. If the doctors get what they want out of the other patient, Dorian is rewarded, even if he doesn't always understand why or what he has done. Still relatively innocent and naive to the horrors ongoing on the labs, Dorian is relatively happy, and always willing to do as Doctor Kertis asks. As long as he has playmates and people to talk to, Dorian isn't that worried about escaping. Though he would like to swim in open water again, someday. Powers xxxxx Altered Physiology: Dorian looks sort of like an overgrown otter, if he isn't wearing enough clothing to cover the mutations. Starting just below his collar bone, extending down his entire back, across his shoulders, and down almost to his elbows is a thick pelt of brown-black fur. The fur lightens to a pale tawny color and thins slight over his chest, stomach, and upper legs. It thins out entirely just above his knees. In the back, the tick fur continues into a broad tail - not unlike an otters, which is largely useless on land except for warmth and petting; the appendage is not prehensile, but he has enough muscular control to move it out of the way, or hold it in place once it is curled a certain way. He lacks normal human ears, and instead has two apposable rounded ears atop his head, mostly lost the ruffle of his similarly colored hair. A nictitating membrane can help him keep his eyes open under water for longer periods of time, and he has an increased lung capacity as well. He had webbing between his fingers and toes, but the webbing on his hands was damaged beyond repair, and subsequently removed at some point in his stay at Prometheus. xxxxx Play With Me: This aspect of Dorian's physical mutation has been almost completely destroyed over his time at Prometheus, during which the musk glands which produced the pheromone in question were removed for use in medical studies. At one time, he produced this musk enough to encourage those around him to protect and care for him, and provide him with companionship - now, it is at best a misfiring defense mechanism which only becomes evident in times of stress. The last vestiges of this mutation are his overly exuberant personality, and somewhat inappropriate playfulness in times of extreme stress - occasionally it will effect others, but unfortunately for Dorian, 'play' doesn't always mean the same thing to everyone.
