<XS> Cody, Jack and Sergio's Dorm - FL2 | |
The influx of new students this year has led to a bit of overcrowding at Xavier's, and it is starting to show in the dorm arrangements, many rooms like this one refitted for three students where they had once been built for only two. The standard two closets have been joined by a large armoire against one wall; three dressers have been moved in, three desks. A bunk bed on the left side, a lofted twin with its desk underneath it on the right. The result of frequent and numerous care packages, the posts and walls accompanying Sergio's bottom bunk are saturated in green and black: the colors of the Hawaii Warriors. His desk showcases photos of his freshman football team, his boy scout troup, his large family, best friends, and his sunny, beach-filled life prior to coming to Xavier's. A wheelchair sits at his desk in place of a chair. Dinner is being served downstairs, and most of the dorms are vacant with the exception of young Kaluhiokalani. Despite having just recently completed treatment, Sergio is not improving. He still suffers from an insatiable hunger, and anger. And the boy is still completely out of control of his abilities, which fluctuate without rhyme or reason. Bold, having neared the end of the pill regiment, he over-extended himself and collapsed just this morning. With a small bandage on his forehead, the teen splays out on his bed. Sergio wears a thick forest green hoodie and baggy track pants. Door ajar, the chirping of his gameboy is the only sound coming from the otherwise empty room. The empty halls is /exactly/ why Liv has chosen dinnertime to visit Serg. Not quite sure of the rules regarding girls being in the boys hallway, she's elected to make her visit short and sweet. Carefully peering around corners, she quickly makes her way down the hallway, nearing Serg's door. She gives a gentle knock, peering over her shoulder briefly to make ensure no one sees her before opening the door and slipping inside without waiting for a response. When she notices Serg, she looks surprised, almost startled but she still smiles. She opens her mouth as if to speak but catches herself, settling for a quick wave. Her other hand, which had been holding /something/ quickly darts behind her back, shielding the item from view. An easy, lopsided smile spreads across Sergio’s face as he looks up. Briefly, the boy glances to the screen in front of him: does he play until he gets to a save point or-? After a moment’s hesitation, he turns down the device’s volume and sets it aside -- still on. ‘Hey,’ he mouths silently, slowly pushing himself up into a sitting position. Even that, it seems, causes his head to spin. His hand goes to his temple. Liv closes the door behind her and makes her way further into the room, careful to keep the present out of Serg's sight until she makes it to his desk and sets it down. It's a bouquet of white and yellow daisies in a vase. Simple enough except the colors are awfully vibrant. The yellows are no less than sunshine yellow and the white ones are pure as snow. Upon close examination, each petal is perfectly shaped and uniform. Stem and flower bear no marks or miscolorings and there's isn't a single sign of wilting anywhere. Liv gives a half smile and slight shrug, almost as if apologizing it isn't anything more. Lashes fluttering as he fights off the spell of vertigo, Sergio is forced to lean his side, shoulder and head against the bunk bed’s post. ‘Did you make these?’ He signs, still beaming from ear to ear. ‘Hold up! Will you get in trouble for-’ He gets stuck on the word, so he gestures around them to the room that they’re in. 'Not make. Just...fixed,' Liv signs back. She glances about the room and shrugs, 'Don't know. Thought you'd be...' it takes a moment for her to choose a word, '...asleep. Was going to pop in and out.' She looks over Sergio and with a concerned frown. 'How are you feeling?' 'Thank you,' Serg signs slowly, turning to admire the flowers, 'You're so powerful.' At the question, Sergio's face slowly changes. The skin between his eyebrows forms a deep crease, his already strong jaw-line tenses, and his dark eyes narrow intensely. He gives a single shake of his head to signify a, 'No.' It's not exactly an answer, and certainly not one anyone wants to hear. Wetting his lips, he shows the girl the side of his face as he stares into the vase. 'Making flowers pretty is now powerful,' Liv signs, blushing a bit at the compliment. Sergio's change in demeanor ruins any sweet moment that may have just occurred. 'Didn't you get the cure?' she signs, pressing her brows together as she sits down on the edge of his desk, continuing to look extremely concerned. 'Did it...did it not work?' Sergio averts his attention to his hands, which clench and unclench repeatedly. That is, until one doesn't unclench and slams into the wooden post of the bed. The empty bunk above shakes, but the exertion causes Sergio's breathing to falter. His lashes bat again, as if he might slip away. Liv squeaks at this sudden outburst, jumping slightly. 'Did you want me to leave?' she quickly signs, hopping off the desk. 'I can let you rest...if you want.' Chest heaving beneath the fabric of his sweatshirt, Sergio extends a hand. With ragged breath, he points to the door. "You have to stay away," he says in a low rumble, and in English. Liv tilts her head, backing away slowly and watching Sergio with a mixture of hurt, confusion and...possibly fear. "Just...get better. Please," she says, also speaking in English, before quickly turning and heading towards the door. At the trigger word, Sergio grabs for the vase. Motived by a sudden, unquenchable anger, he rises from the bed. Object in hand, the former football player pulls back his arm before swinging it forward over-head. "Stay away from-" He releases, pivoting his body in the same moment. It's a pivot that slips his mind out of one of the many cracks in his mental barriers. His body falls to the ground in a thud. But that isn't the end of Sergio. A voice, invigorated and powerful, projects into Liv's mind. <<-ME.>> With a scream, Liv ducks as the vase and her flowers are airborne, narrowly missing being hit. Watching with wide fearful eyes as Serg collapses to the ground, she freezes, debating whether to help Serg or leave or any number of actions she could take. Tears begin to line her eyes and she quickly straightens, opening the door and quickly slipping out before flat out booking it down the hallway. Limbs bent uncomfortably, and neck pressed into an odd angle, Sergio might look like he was sleeping were it not for the awkward position. That’s how they’ll find him. His chest still moves, and his eyes rest closed with no great effort as water from the broken vase makes its way down across the room towards his face. |
