A meeting of public assistance in the Garment District.

Location

<NYC> Garment District

The Garment District is named quite rightly. In the square mile of the Garment District, some of the world's best fashion designers, clothing manufacturers, and models are packed into the office and retail buildings of the District. The streets are busy, and the clothing of the passers-going always, always fashionable.

It's a chilly day in the Big Apple, and the pretty, fashionable people have on any array of interesting outerwear. She's not some tall, stick thin model running from one to another designer, or one of the fur clad upper crust women popping in and out on a shopping spree. Red hair is a bright beacon on a gray overcast day, without any hat or anything to obscure it, and her black leather coat is neither new or expensive. She's clutching a large leather bag, checking addresses here and there, then glancing at the screen of her phone. She might not know exactly where she's going.

Stepping carefully through the crowd of people, eyes flicking back and forth, Eric's attention is everywhere at once. He smiles politely to the tourists as they pass, and equally politely gets out of the way of the residents. Navy blue uniform neatly starched, cap tugged down over his forehead, the police officer comes upon Alexandrine fairly quickly in his patrol. "Excuse me, ma'am," he says, his accent a neat Georgia drawl. "Can I help you find something?" he asks, with a flash of white teeth in a smile.

Blue eyes look to the sound that's at least closer to home than any Brooklyn or Bronx sound. There's a reflexive smile that sticks, warming up her expression. "Ah'm the errand girl, today. Supposed to drop this off at a designer's." Her hand pats the bag, even as her own L'siana drawl is as bright and obvious as her hair.

"Ah. Well, I'm not sure I can help you there." Eric says, with a little bit of a shrug as he gestures towards his uniform with an easy gesture. "They don't give us much choice between brands." he jokes, lightly, glancing around at the storefronts. "I think most of the designer's offices are over there," he points down the block. "This is more the retail end. But that's just a guess!"

Alexandrine blushes, head ducking just a little bit. "Clearly, Ah am just so overeducated on the subject that Ah got confused." There's a smirk, as she glances down at her heeled boots that go to her knees, over black leggings and the hint of a green top that peeks out. "Just the boss is so busy setting up this fund raiser thing, she sent me to drop off the costume sketches down here. And she told me the place can be hard to spot. Up and comer, not some...big name."Alex shrugs, glancing down the block. " But the blue is such a nice, reassuring color." It's a hint of a joke about his uniform. "It certainly makes me feel less scattered and hectic." There's a smile with that, her expression open.

Eric's eyes flicker over her for a moment and his smile widens. "I like blue as well. It goes well with my eyes." he smirks, brown eyes glittering for a moment mischeviously. "I dunno, then. Maybe give her a call, see where? Or just start knockin' on doors, asking for their competitors."

Alexandrine laughs, a quiet little burst of sound among everything else going on. "Totally does." She shoots right back. "She texted me, but Ah know she's in a meeting and all that. Don't want to bother her, Ah'll just try further on down the street like you directed, Ah guess. One should always listen to the law." That might have been a wink.

Eric's eyes darken slightly and he winks back. "Have a good little walk. We'll keep the streets safe for ya." Because the Garment District during midday is an /incredibly/ unsafe place to patrol. Someone might litter.

Alex laughs again, smile lingering. "Hey, Ah have a healthy respect for police officers. Not just because ya look good in blue." She glances at her phone again, brows drawing down as she looks up at the closest doorway for a number. "Thank you, Officer..." Her eyes drop down to look for the name tag.

"Sutton. But you can call me Eric." The police officer says, pointing out the nameplate on his chest with one finger. He grins and extends a hand. "And you are...?" he asks, one eyebrow raising playfully.

"All right, Eric then. " A small hand reaches out to take his, a brow arching in response to his. "Alexandrine Reynaud. The pleasure is mine, sir."

"Ms. Reynaud," Eric says, grip firm and hand warm on her hand. "No, I believe the pleasure is all mine," he says, voice a light purr. "I hope you find what you are looking for quite soon so you are free for more exciting persuits."

There's a healthy dose of color in her cheeks, but it could be the cold and not a blush, right? "But more exciting pursuits wouldn't have led me to meet one of the city's finest. And that would have been a shame." She can't help the hint of a grin, her head tipping just slightly to the right.

"More exciting persuits can frequently bring you into... contact with the City's finest." Eric says, eyes twinkling once more. "It would, certainly, have been a shame. I am a fantastic person to meet." he says, lips quirking into a wider smile. "I pity all those who don't have the opportunity to." It is, perhaps, not possible to tell if he is joking or not.

Joking or not, Alex's eyes sparkle with amusement. "My day would have certainly been poorer for the lack of an Officer Sutton. Maybe Ah should take errand duty more often. It might enliven my work days." There's a beat, before she quickly adds without quite blurting it out. "At least the scenery is much more attractive."

Eric's eyes glint a little bit darker, and when he speaks, that purring tone is back in his voice. His eyes flicker over the woman's body, unabashedly. "Indeed, it very much is." He reaches into the vest of his jacket and pulls out a pen and a card. He scribbles on the back of it for a moment, then passes the card to the woman between two fingers. An email address is on the back: esutton@gmail.com.

It's a good thing it's cold, Alex hates blushing obviously. There's even a hint of a chuckle cut off at that flicker of his gaze. Alex takes the card, glancing down to see the email. " All right then. Ah guess you'll have to check your email to hear from me." Blue eyes are bright, as she slides the card into her jacket pocket carefully. "Ah probably shouldn't keep you from your patrol, an' Ah should probably get myself in gear an' get this delivered."

"I will." Eric says, patting his pocket. "Goes ri' to my phone." He gives her a wink and wave. "Have a safe evening, ma'am." he drawls, picking his hat up with one hand and doffing it for a moment. Smirk affixed on his lips, he turns away and begins walking in the direction he had been going, eyes sweeping back and forth, on patrol once more.

Alexandrine laughs at the tip of his hat, a mock half curtsy given. "Have an excellent day, officer." She says, before she's hurrying further down the block to try and find that office she needs.
