"You are both too stubborn, but this is part of what makes you awesome" (Part of Zombie Flu Plot)

Location

<BOM> The Spatters - Ascension Island

A comfortable three-bedroom cabin, sturdily built if inelegant. The front door opens up into a cozy sitting room with small bathroom; it is adjoined by a kitchenette with room for small table. The three bedrooms here -- two off the sitting room, one on the other side of the kitchen -- are not uniform in size nor layout, with the considerably smaller kitchen-adjacent room having its own screened-in porch.

The fireplace has a cheerful fire burning, and several fresh logs have been brought inside, stacked to one side of the brickwork. The smell of fresh coffee permeates the whole place. The bathroom door opens, and Pedro steps out, a towel wrapped around his waist. A second towel is being quickly worked through his hair as he heads for the closet that passes for his bedroom.

While Pedro was in the bathroom, Anette took the time to slip out. Even quarantined people need to eat. Lucky for her, her meal, a nice juicy steak, hardly took any effort. Technically, it's been cooked, but it appears the pan had been used more to defrost than any actual cooking. Calling it blue-rare would be an overstatement. Still, Anette seems content with it, sitting at the dining room table with a knife and fork and slowly picking at it. As Pedro finally leaves the bathroom, she looks up, yellow eyes slowly watching him. She doesn't greet him in anyway, verbal or non-verbal, just watches him.

Pedro blinks and pauses, peering over at Anette. He waves to her, grinning. Turning, he disappears into his room. The young man reappears several minutes later, dressed in overalls, and pulling on a green hoodie. He picks up one of the pads of paper used to communicate, and starts to write. 'Hey Anette, how're you feeling? Did you hear, they have the cure here now. Apparently that person you mentioned, Regan?, brought it here.'

Anette takes a couple more bites of her steak, tensing a bit as Pedro returns and approaches her. She reads his message, hesitantly picking up the pen and responding. 'Still sick. Pills won't work for 5-6 days. You do know she's our leader, right?' She writes, drawing an arrow from her last sentence and pointing it towards Pedro's line of 'person you mention'.

'She is? Oops. :(' Pedro shrugs and looks down a moment. 'Not feeling worse though, yeah? Hope you can get the proper cure soon.' Pedro looks into the fridge, returning with a couple of bananas, and sits across from Anette. Starting at the bottom of one, he begins peeling it, and quickly wolfs it down.

'Not worse, not better. Still hungry. Mind still scary' Anette scribbles, rubbing her eyes once she sets the pen down. Quickly, she picks up the pen and adds to her note. 'You still not sick?'

Pedro pauses in the peeling of the second banana to shrug. 'No, not yet. If I feel anything, I'll go get checked. Hopefully the uh.. medics? .. here are a bit more friendly.' The young man's ears flatten slightly and he huffs. 'Killian seems to be in the same boat as you, roughly. He might do better if he rested more.'

Anette grits her teeth tightly together as she reads the message, picking up the pen and roughly responding, writing becoming messier with each word. 'He got it from me. Should have known, too stubborn. I said it wasn't zombie. He came here, got sick. Fuck.' The rest of her 'writing' is really just scribbles from the pen as she's overcome with rage, her yellow eyes wide and staring holes into the paper, her breathing quickening as she internally struggles to control her emotions.

Pedro watches for a moment, and then gently lays a hand on hers, to still the pen's erratic movements. He gently takes the pen, if she so allows. 'It will be okay. The cure is here. Regan will fix you both up. You are both too stubborn, but this is part of what makes you awesome. ^_^ '

Bad move, touching her. The second Pedro lays his hand on hers, Anette throws it off, quickly rising from her chair. A hand swings out and slaps Pedro, needle sharp talons pointed straight for his face, with no care for what harm she may cause him. The rage, as quickly as it appeared, disappears and her jaw falls, shocked. "Nein..." she groans, her eyes widening in fear as she drops down into her chair, cradling her head in her hands, her elbows resting on her legs.

Pedro looks up as her chair starts to move, and is knocked back into his chair at her slap. A look of complete and utter surprise is fixed upon Pedro's face, and a shaky hand comes up to feel the parallel gouges Anette's talons have left in his cheek. "Oh.", he says, his voice quiet. "Tsss." He stands and moves to the bathroom, shutting the door behind him.

Anette doesn't bother to look up as Pedro walks off, though she does flinch when she hears the door close. "Bitte virgib mir..." she calls out. Though German, it's probably not hard to tell what she's saying, especially with the pained tone in her voice.

Pedro reappears a few minutes later, his eyes watery, and his cheek bandaged. The smell of alcohol is rather strong. He settles into the same seat across from her, looking down at his hands. A shaky hand reaches out to take the pen, assuming it is not in her hands. 'I don't know German. I'm sorry for touching you.'

Anette seems to have calmed down though she looks on the verge of tears, even as Pedro returns and writes her another note. 'Bitte vergib mir. Please forgive me. Don't apologize. It's me. It's the plague. Can't control myself anymore. Why are you still here? I could kill you.'

'You are forgiven.', he responds, his shakiness starting to fade. 'I could die trying to catch the ferry tomorrow. Some cop could just gun me down for looking at him wrong. I'm not scared.' He shrugs. 'Why should you be alone? Once you go in for the cure, you will get better. The pills should kick in soon anyways. I see no reason to abandon you or anyone.'

'Alone because I am dangerous. I'm not cured yet. If you won't leave, I will. Don't let me be the one to kill you' Anette quickly scribbles down, sliding the pad of paper across the table to Pedro. With that, she rises from you chair again, though much more in control, and quickly makes her way to her own bedroom.

"Wait." He lets out a breath. "I'll go." Pedro slips from the chair and heads for his room. When he reappears, he's wearing a rather new looking winter jacket. And boots. He doesn't seem too happy with the boots, however, clumping around in them. 'I'll see you in a few weeks then, yeah?', he scribbles onto the paper.

Anette pauses to watch Pedro dress in his coat. 'No, I'm dangerous. Just let me hide in my room. No reason you should be kicked out because I'm sick'

Pedro pauses, and looks to her. 'Okay. I will be back later on. Going to go to one of the safehouses in the city. Don't lose hope, yeah?'

Anette takes a deep breath, nodding her head slowly. 'Yeah. Don't lose hope'
