Peter comes back to his dorm room. Late -- just past curfew, in fact -- and *stinking* of smoke. He is clearly not in the happiest of happy moods -- he's wearing a black hoodie and black dress slacks, and his left arm is currently very limp. When he comes in, it's with a grimace, a groan, and then: "Um Ivan? Do you have... a first aid kit?" There are a few errant soot marks on his face, but the color of his clothes hides the rest of them. There is a lot of soot, though. Ivan, dressed in simple jeans and a brown and white striped shirt, sits in the corner, on his bed, back pressed against the wall and a thick book in his lap. A notepad covers the right page, and the pen he's holding to write in said notebook tumbles to the sheets below when Peter comes slinking into the room. What in the world. Ivan's face barely budges to show concern, but he does almost immediately slide the now closed book off of his lap in order to get off of the bed himself and to lower himself to the floor-- to crawl halfway under the bed, apparently. Rummage, rummage. Peter -- who is usually terrified to even be seen in a _bathing_ suit -- proceeds to roll his shoulders up as he steps toward his own bed, pulling the black hoodie off -- an 'ah, ah, ah, _crap_' every step of the way -- exposing the loose t-shirt underneath. And then, _very_ slowly, he's pulling that one up too -- baring the pale skin of his back. Peter's got... a bit more muscle than a teenage nerd genuinely should. On top of that, the arrangement of it is a little peculiar, and off-putting -- it's all tightly wound, like a spring getting ready to fire. The bandage and patch he's got on his left shoulder is nearly falling off -- the adhesive has been worked loose, and now it dangles like a flap. Blood has soaked through the patch -- the wound underneath, once just a small, puckered hole, has widened into a jagged tear. Two, maybe three inches. Meanwhile Ivan is taking his sweet time, books being pulled out from under the bed to litter the floor around his legs. Then, with after THUNK of him hitting his head, he finally resurfaces pulling an oldfashioned, worn down, tan suitcase out and into the open. Ivan clicks two latches at the front open before exposing the contents- some clothes he's never worn, a flashlight, and-- there it is, a red plastic box with a white cross on it. It is lifted onto the bed, but it is then that Ivan finally looks up at Peter again. And freezes. The first aid kit is immediately abandoned. Ivan rises to his feet with a look of /anger/ that seems somehow alien to his face. He confidently steps over to try and grab at Peter's right arm, saying in an uncharacteristically firm voice, "Medical bay." Peter blinks, glancing over his shoulder at Ivan as he takes his right arm -- oh thank GOODNESS he took his right arm and not his left -- and seems to get a little pale: "But--they'd ask--they'd ask how I got it," Peter mumbles, and Ivan might now notice that he's wearing the red-and-blue gloves. "There was a fire, and I used the webshooters, and um--um maybe we can think of something on the way?" Peter sounds a bit shaken; he's in no particular mindset to resist Ivan should the boy insist on the medical bay. It's not just the pain -- something seems to have wound him up. Ivan wants to insist, that much is clear in the way that he doesn't let go of Peter's arm. But even if he's clearly displeased, Peter's tone of voice seems to at least pause his actions. His eyes settle on the torn wound, then on the strangely positioned arm, then on Peter's face. "Did you do something /bad/? Why would they punish you if you did not do something bad?" Something else lets itself be heard, too. There's a hum of movement coming from the terraria as things stir and writhe in their place. A few of the bigger bugs actually seem to sit by the front of their glass houses to look at the rest of the room, but that might just be coincidence. "N-no--I mean, I guess, I don't know--I don't know if I'd get in trouble for--I used my powers, and wore a mask, and I ran when the police showed up," Peter says, and now he just sounds _confused_. Like the idea of just telling the school what happened -- everything -- was something too bizarre for him to wrap his brain around. "I could just tell them -- I don't know if it'll be on the news, or -- I was just roof-hopping. Testing the web-shooter on buildings and stuff. Then I heard someone screaming, and saw smoke, so I called 911 but then I figured I was right *there* and I could just... look in. And I did, and there were kids trapped in a room, and I broke the door down but I _totally_ forgot about my shoulder, and..." Peter grimaces again. "When I went back to save the mother there was this guy who showed up and he was like 'don't save her'. And--I think it's because she was terrible to the kids. Like _ultra_ terrible. And I couldn't pick her up because of my shoulder. And I had to convince him to help me take her down the stairs." It all just comes gushing -- or leaking -- out. Little by little. Peter seems to be getting a bit better as he talks about it. The shoulder still _hurts_, ohGod, but he doesn't look like he's about to cry or anything. "It was just nuts," Peter says. Ivan's eyes stay on Peter's face as he talks. And talks. And talks. Part of him seems to want to mirror the confusion in Peter's voice, but it isn't long before determination takes over instead. Brother Mode activated. He didn't have all of those siblings for nothin'. He lets go of Peter's arm, but only to reach for a nearby dresser. A rolled up, red blanket is pulled out and unfurled, and thrown over Peter's shoulders. Then, with a restless rustle from one of the smaller residents of the room, he moves to stand just outside dorm, deciding to stare at Peter until he comes along to get himself fixed up by someone who knows what they're doing, like a good superhero. Peter relents, reluctantly, accepting the blanket and giving suspicious looks this way and that as he proceeds out in the hallway, drawing the blanket tight around him and looking like some sort of WIZARD in RED ROBES. He follows Ivan dutifully, like a puppy -- just nattering away: "The boy--Gaetan--he said my goggles are ugly," Peter says, and it sounds like he's taken this *quite* personally. "But the girl--Sera--she thought the web-shooters were cool. I--I don't think I'll be able to websling for a few weeks, but, the fire gave me some _ideas_..." he starts prattling on about improvements he can make -- to the mask, the webshooters, and even something about maybe carrying a FIREMAN'S hat or a POLICE BADGE in his backpack. |
