<XS> Rec Room - FL2

School this may be, but life for Xavier's students certainly isn't all studying. Outside classes, this is a popular spot to find students in their downtime. An enormous tribute to slacking off, this room is a wealth of fun and relaxation.

Comfortable armchairs, couches, and beanbags offer plentiful seating scattered throughout the room, and the cushioned windowseats by the high windows offer a cozy nook to curl up and look out on the grounds.

The room is often filled with the noises of gaming -- whether it comes from the big-screen television (tall racks of DVDs beside it, if nothing can be found on the multitude of cable channels), tricked out with consoles from retro to the latest releases, or the less electronic clatter and thump of the pool table, air hockey, or foosball. For those a little more subdued in their gaming, the cabinets hold stacks and stacks of board and card games, ranging as classic as chess and go to as esoteric as Dixit, Catan, and Gloom.

Peter's arrival is slow and reluctant. The boy has been -- scarce, the past few days. Actually, he hasn't even been here -- he's been out in the city, doing (according to him) 'important things'. He arrived with Jax not too long ago; the chitin-clad boy's been wearing his red hoodie and jeans since then, looking a bit haggard and sallow-cheeked -- like he hasn't slept in weeks.

The past day has been a little better; he's gone to sleep for a full night -- managed to get some (carefully rationed!) food in him -- and doesn't look like he's about to fall over. Nevertheless, he's still got an edge to him, a frown on his face as he slips into the rec room -- Xavier's has become notably quiet and morose with the events of the past few days, and Peter's no exception. He doesn't /look/ like he's here to play video-games; he looks like he's searching for someone.

Making his way into the rec room, Jeremy is bundled up comfortably in his acquired clothing. His black hoodie is a a size too large, with the power symbol on front of it is cracked and faded, and his jeans are more worn but actually fit. Mind you, he is still fairly underweight for a boy his height and age, but he doesn't look any worse than he had when he had gotten to the school. Tucked under his arm with a notebook with a sharpie clipped to the cover, the edges ot the paper having marks on it as if to act as a bookmark reminder, though only the first half of the notepad has the tick notes. His eyes pass over the inhabitants in the room, perhaps making sure there aren't any zombies, before he heads over towards the television area. Giving Peter a smile and a little finger waggle of a hello, he continues on past him then hops onto the couch, tucking his legs under him as he grabs some remotes to figure out how to watch things.

"--oh hey," Peter begins, catching sight of Jeremy, the greeting -- maybe a bit less /cheerful/ than Peter's usual impossible-to-quench stacatto. It's soon followed by a slight apologetic mumble, and... "Um -- Jeremy, right? I think I might have -- seen you? Around the school, I..." He pauses, looking around the mostly empty room -- and starting to frown, rather deeply. "...things have been kind of nuts here recently, though."

Nodding at Peter's guessing at his name, Jeremy glances back from the remotes to Peter. Setting them down, he starts to flip through the notepad a moment as if looking for for something, then pauses, and starts to sign instead, though doing so slowly, 'Are you taking the supplemental sign classes?' He watches Peter for a moment to see if theres the light of recognition at the signing, though he has gotten to a page in the journal and holds up something he's already written out, and holds it up to be read. ~You can still talk, I just can't safely.~

Peter's eyes widen as Jeremy begins to sign -- at first, clearly shocked that he knows how! And then, clearly shocked that Peter himself didn't realize the importance of doing this himself. He immediately opens his mouth: "Oh, jeez, I'm s--" And instantly, Peter's mouth convulses, his eye twitching. "--sssssssss... sssnnn... no," he finishes, before bringing his mouth up to *clamp* on his mouth. And proceeds to sign right back: 'Sorry'. Then, very slowly, his signing showing signs of having only learned a few months ago -- a bit clumsy, having to pause and search for the proper finger motions: 'Am sorry. Forgot.'

There is a slight amusement on Jeremy's face as he watches Peter's facial reactions. He shakes his head at the apologies though. 'It is okay. I had to learn for obvious reasons,' he signs before pointing at his mouth. 'Don't wanna take out the entertainment center. How do I get the movies going? It has a lot of options for sources.' There is a slight look of consternation as he pokes at the buttons on remotes, speaker systems humming on then off, the television going on and cycling through inputs. 'Its all newer than what my parents had.'

Peter pauses, eyebrows cranking together as he watches Jeremy's signing very *closely*, trying to ferret out everything he's saying. He catches a few words here and there, and can figure out the basic meaning -- though it takes him a lot of time. "--reasons?" Peter asks, then, before -- flushing, turning briefly violet, and signing: 'Reasons?'. "--they have netflix," Peter offers, helpfully, choosing his words very carefully. Then, with his hands: 'Wait. Is not because of...' He doesn't know the word, so he makes the sign for 'Z', followed by 'words?'.

Shaking his head about the Z-word, Jeremy flips through his notebook before coming to a poor quality drawing. There's a diagram with a spiral in the center, and written around it on the three sides are ~Thermal, full electromagnetic spectrum, sonics.~ Then, he glances at it himself, scrawls a line off of the EM spectrum one to write in ~Electric, magnets too~ and reshows it. When Peter has had the time to read it, he signs 'I eat all that.' Before he makes a pacman motion of his hand through the air to emphasize the eating. At the talk of netflix, he frowns and looks through the options in the buttons to try and find it, till he finally comes across the streaming device in the inputs list. 'I have so much to catch up on'.

Realization dawns in Peter's eyes; a faint widening -- then a narrowing -- as he peers at the notebook, reading it. And then his eyes cast up to Jeremy, peering at him -- much more *closely*. Before nodding his head once. "--I get it. I think. I--" and then Peter /jumps/, quick and easy, leaping from the ground to land on the couch somewhere besides Jeremy -- reaching for the controller to (if he may!) gently draw it out of his hand. And proceed to -- *clk*, *clk* -- quickly navigating the streaming devices in the input list to bring up Netflix! "--so I guess you devour... huh, radiation? Energy? When you /speak/? That's kind of -- weird," Peter decides, though 'weird' sounds like it could easily be replaced with 'cool'.

'Not speak. Open mouth.' Jeremy signs back, going slow for the other boy's sake. He is only slightly startled by the leaping about, then settles back into his own couch position as Peter handles the navigation. 'Put it on something new and good. Any new super hero movies?' He peers at the screen, watching over the options go by as navigation occurs. Flipping through the notepad again, he flips it to another page, one that seems by the hand writing a tad more angry looking ~I have missed years of life.~

"--oh, /oh/," Peter responds, peering at the signs as Jeremy makes them, eyebrows /climbing/ rapidly toward his hairline. "--you -- so whenever you open your mouth, oh hey, that's pretty -- that's pretty frigging /cool/," Peter decides. "Though I guess, yeah, it would really suck for... electronics. Or radio signals. Or cell phone signals. Or anything electronic, really." He glances back to the screen, then shrugs, flipping through the various selections -- his eyebrows pinching together. "Hn, I dunno, there's -- I guess -- um, the new Superman movie, I haven't seen that, I /think/ that's on here -- maybe." Flip, flip, flip.

'Ate attack robots. Sebastian has it at the loft.' Jeremy signs, enjoying the fact Peter liked his capability, though he does look perturbed and nods in agreement about the fact it sucking for electronics. At the mention of a Superman movie, he hrms a bit, then shrugs. 'Kinda a boyscout. Can do that if nothing better.' He reshifts his legs to be a more comfortable crossleggedness, then plops the notepad on his lap to an empty page. 'At least I don't talk through movies'

"--oh, there's Pacific Rim," Peter announces, as if he has just had a /better/ idea -- though this is probably because the Superman movie isn't available yet. But as he brings the movie up, he suddenly frowns, as if just remembering something -- head slinging about to peek at Jeremy. "--actually, I--have to check on somebody. But once I'm done I'll come back? I've already seen this movie so..." Hop! He's suddenly crouching -- like a frog! -- on the back of the couch.

There is a head tilt at the title of the movie, the drawing of a question mark in the air and then a shrug as Jeremy peers at the screen to read the description of the movie. He does however start it, then glances to Peter and gives him a wave. 'Hope your somebody is okay.' He nods at that, then puts his elbows on his knees, and plants his chin on his hands so he can settle in to watch, with the benefit of his mouth being better clamped by the up pressure of his hands.
