Gleaming and sterile, the school's medical facility is all cool science in contrast to the mansion's old-world old-fashion. All stainless steel and antiseptic tinge, the room is filled with the quiet whir-click of the various implements that comprise its medical equipment -- all state-of the art. The hospital beds are curtained off for privacy when they have patients, and in one of the alcoves there is a small operating theatre visible. More heavy-duty equipment is visible in the lab in the back, where the securely locked cabinets keep sensitive equipment out of the reach of teenage fingers. The texts come shortly after Peter gets back: Peter ---> Ivan: okay so im in the medical place but im tots cool just a little woozy there was tons of crazy went down in central park and i got a little on me anyway i have a new archvillain now and his name is needler except he was really sad and crying when the police took him and i think he might be the worst archvillain ever so maybe we should go visit him when they let me go A few minutes later: Peter ---> Ivan: uh okay mr blue furry person is taking away my phone and saying no visitors but ill talk to you tomorrow maybe he says i should be fine then just gotta run some crazy tests talk to you then And then it is the next morning! Peter is fine; in fact, should Ivan come to visit him, he will find Peter is currently putting on his black hoodie--having just finished getting dressed and exiting one of the bedrooms he had been shunted off in. And that's exactly what he does. Ivan is dressed in dark jeans and a white dress shirt with - for some reason - a streak of brown and greens running across one side and part of his back, holding a tied up, transparent plastic baggy of something tightly in both hands in front of him. His approach comes unannounced, unsurprisingly, and his straight-pathed gait quickens when he sees his friend already on his way out, looking simultaneously relieved and utterly curious as his eyes flit over his roommate from top to bottom. Your battlescars, show me them. As soon as Peter sees Ivan, the boy tenses--and *JUMPS*. Landing right in front of Ivan, flexing his gloved hands as he does so: "OHMYGOD. Ivan. Ivan it was *crazy* and I totally got an awesome wicked battlescar and THEY GAVE MR. JACKSON A TICKET," Peter's tone switches from near euphoric to near-enraged at the flip of a switch: "He totally saved me and a bunch of other people from getting needled and they gave him a ticket for it and I was so angry I could have--I could have WEBBED EVERYONE." Peter shakes his fists, like he's still considering it. But then: "But it was so cool otherwise, I mean there was this guy, right? He was ranting all like 'MUTANTS ARE BAD BLUH BLUH BLUH', but this guy in the back was a mutant and he kinda freaked and sprouted quills and somebody spat on him and he got scared and then NEEDLES, and I grabbed Spencer--that's Jackson's kid! He likes Doctor Who, he's cool--anyway I grabbed Spencer and Jax was like *SHIELD* and it was tots superhero stuff," Peter says, but then--again--with even *more* anger: "AND THEY GAVE JACKSON A TICKET." Aaaaaaa. Ivan freezes up when he's jumped at. Or in front of. Either way, it causes a tiny little shockwave of gnats, moths and less flying-capable things to spring from the back of Ivan's head, some only barely making it out of his shirt to sit confused on his shoulders and neck. When Ivan catches his breath again a few seconds later, the flying insects lower from where they are but continue flitting about seemingly in random directions, never straying far. He's not entirely sure what to do after that, looking a bit sheepish at having frozen up, and decides to do something drastic to take the attention off of him and what's in his hands-- thrusting it forward toward Peter and revealing it to be a bag of brightly coloured gummy spiders! They're pretty big, giving a satisfying wobble following the sudden movement. "And, and, and," Peter's so excited he doesn't even *freak* at the cloud of insects that snap and swell and surge, but he's clearly got more energy than he knows what to do with. It might help that, until this morning, he couldn't walk, jump, or backflip, and now he's itching to do all three at once. But then Ivan thrusts forward that pile of wobbling gummy spiders, and Peter... just blinks. "And... oh man gummy spiders I love gummy spiders," and then Peter's snatched up the bag and opened it and--HOW THE HELL IS THE BAG *ALREADY* HALF EMPTY?! "Thanks," Peter says inbetween chews, offering Ivan some, apparently calming down just a bit: "Um, but--" Swallow. "--I think I *do* wanna visit Needler later today because I don't think he's really an arch-villain and I felt terrible for him I mean he basically just can't control his needle powers and I think they might send him to jail for that and that's a really dumb thing to go to jail for." Ivan's Injustice Radar goes off, and as such, he frowns. The gummy spiders are ignored- maybe he had his fill of them earlier, or maybe he's just far too busy not looking happy or neutral for once. It is hard work. He nods, with ADDED VIGOUR from being moderately annoyed at the situation this poor quill-dispensing guy, but then cocks his head sideways as the bugs still on the loose return to him in twitchy little movements, disappearing from whence they came. Calmly as usual, he asks, "Are you still hurt?" "Oh, no, I mean it stings, it *really* stings*, but they put a patch on it and Doctor McCoy said it should heal fine, I just have to check up with him a few times this week," Peter explains, then adds: "I'd *totally* show it to you because it is _BADASS_, I mean I basically have a hole in my shoulder, but--uh, Doctor McCoy said I cannot take off the bandage because there's a serious risk of infection." Peter reaches back, then, pointing at his left shoulder. "But it's right here and once the bandage is off and he told me that yes it will probably leave a small BADASS SCAR," Peter adds, as if thrilled to death that this will, in fact, be a thing. Ivan SQUINTS at the shoulder, leaning forward onto his toes every so slightly. Maybe if he squints hard enough he will trigger a secondary X-ray vision mutation. It seems fruitless, at least for now, and he sinks back looking a little disappointed. But then he remember something, and awkwardly angles himself to try and get a look of his own back. When that fails, he grabs the dirtied side of his shirt and looks at Peter again as he's showing it off. "You almost died. I tried to /climb tree/." Now he just looks sad. The chances of it having been any sort of successful seem low. "Oh no dude I didn't almost die, like I said Jax like, deflected a *CRAPTON* of spikes, and it didn't go too deep, and wicked battlescars are wicked battlescars even if you got them fighting a tree," Peter adds, and he actually sounds one hundred percent sincere about this! "I mean I got mine running from a dude who's basically a porcupine so we're both talking nature anyway," and then: "Oh *MAN* right that reminds me, I need to start working on the webshooters!" Peter has PLANS. They involve WEBSHOOTERS. For EVERYONE. Well, okay. Not everyone. But Ivan, at least. Plus, he's worried that his gloves are a little conspicuous. Ivan perks back up, letting go of his shirt and though he does seem vaguely dubious about Peter's opinions on battlescars, the subject of webshooters is much more preferable. And just like that, two dozen spiders (most of them jumping spiders from the looks ofthem) crawl from somewhere on the bug boy's top half to join together on one of his arms as he raises them in front of him. Faster than his eyes can track them, half of them JUMP across to his other arm, langing more or less in the same spot and creating a triangle of security web lines. The rest of the spiders left behind then moves across as well-- slightly slower, but as they make their way across from the point of the triangle to the wider end, it becomes increasingly more clear what they're doing. Fabric! A patchy prototype, but it's springly and could be created from one direction, roughly. "OhGod," Peter says, except for once he's not saying it out of *panic*. Instead, he's watching those spiders go to work as they weave and jump with absolute rapt *fascination*. And then--trying not to talk *too* fast--he nevertheless begins to babble: "Oh *man*, I bet you could make... like I dunno if it would be like KEVLAR or anything, but you could make like, pretty awesome and light armor out of that and I *totally* bet the quill wouldn't have gotten through like eight or nine layers of that," and then: "Plus, like, braided web-ropes would be *crazy* strong, maybe even stronger than the web-shooters--you could use them to tie up criminals! Or lasso cars!" Like lassoing cars is something Peter fully intends to be doing. WHY NOT. Once Ivan is finished focusing all of his available concentration down onto his arms, he looks back up at Peter and nods approvingly. He gives both of his arms a shake and the spiders bolt in different directions, some tumbling to the floor before climbing back up Ivan's legs. The 'fabric', patchy as it is, comes apart fairly easily after a few good pulls in every which direction, and what doesn't fall to the floor sticks to his sleeves for the time being. He's used to it. "... What if the needle man had a suit?" He then suddenly ponders aloud. Or as loud as he gets, anyway. "Oh yeah! That could totally, like, hold in his needles, maybe? Maybe," Peter adds, thinking. "I mean, I dunno, I'd be worried what happens if they don't come out--like they popped out of him like *bullets* or something, but we could totally ask him about that--and maybe even give him, like, a WEB SUIT for his needlin'!" Peter slaps his hands together like this was the most splendid idea *ever*. "Although, uh, they came out of his face too and I don't think he'd want to wear, like, a needle-proof mask all the time. But, uh, one step at a time I guess?" Ivan tries to imagine a man made out of needlequills just overflowing with sharp things while also not being able to see at all due to being covered in webs and just ends up chuckling quietly to himself. Then there is a rumble. His stomach letting him knowabout his habit to forget to eat, sometimes. He pulls aside, and points to the direction of the door. "Breakfast? You can talk more, during." "Oh!" Peter instantly perks. "Right, yeah, I haven't like eaten *anything* since last night," and that's when Ivan may notice the bag of gummy spiders is now suspiciously *empty*, because Peter has been somehow eating them, talking, and gesturing wildly all at the same time. He throws the bag in a wastebin on the way. "But, right, I should totally eat, and then I gotta find out where the NEEDLER went... I bet Jax would know!" And then they're off, FOR BREAKFAST. |
