2015-10-04 Daken and Anette get some climbing in and talk about stuff |
Location
<BOM> Training Center - Main Lodge - Ascension Island | |
Down a short flight of stairs off of the common room, this room is a departure from the homier stone and wood upstairs. Its bare concrete walls are clearly basementy in feel, though its floor has been refurbished in gleaming synthetic flooring marked out like a basketball court. This spacious gymnasium includes a variety of punching bags -- of several compositions (for normal strength mutants or mutants on the high end of the spectrum) -- a boxing ring, a wall for climbing, several lengths of rope, and many, many training dummies for people to practice their powers on. Someone's dressed up one of the training dummies as a police officer, and scrawled a dopey smiley face on it; the sign on his chest declares him to be 'OFFICER SHITS-HIS-PANTS'. Officer Shits-His-Pants has seen better days; by the look of him, he's been set on fire and lost at least one of his limbs. In the back room is more training equipment -- everything from boxing gloves, medical tape, sports equipment, and even some unusual customized equipment for the more 'physical' mutants. The infirmary door stands near the stairway leading back up. The sun has set and Daken is where he can normally be found, in the training center. He's dressed in light clothes, dark pants and a white top, with his knuckles wrapped. Blood spots the front of his clothing and his wraps, though most of it is his. He's currently in a corner taking a breather from training. The gentle thudding nose of someone walking down the stairs is heard. It's not as the usual steady thudding, which is explained when Anette appears, cast-free though limping slightly on the leg. She, too, is dressed for a work out, black work out pants, ratty tank-top, and hair pulled into a high ponytail. At the sight of Daken, she grins happily, jogging her way over to him. "Hello sweetie!" she greets him, cheerfully. She leans over to kiss him before taking his hands and gently tugging on them, signaling him to stand up. "Come on! I've got a month's worth of training to catch up on!" If her overly cheerful demeanor and burst of energy weren't enough to trigger suspicion, the scent of something chemical and out of place still lingers on her when she leans forward. Daken returns the kiss and rises to his feet. "Hey there beautiful." he says, wrapping her in a hug and giving her butt a squeeze. "Thought we could talk for a few, but if you're that ready to go we can jump right into it." He leads over to one of the clear areas, "Anything interesting happen today?" "We can talk and work out at the same time. Rock wall?" Anette suggests, turning and making her way over as she fixes her ponytail. "Oh...nothing much. Ran into Ion. What'd you want to talk about, hun?" she asks, placing one hand on a rock as she turns to face Daken. Daken heads over to the wall, getting his placement right then starting to head up, careful to keep pace with Anette. "Can't imagine that went over very well." he says with a sort of sigh. "He still have all the teeth he showed up with?" An eyebrow cocks up slightly as he watches her. "Didn't touch him. Everybody just got upset with each other and walked off angry," Anette says, getting her own placement and scaling the wall. "So now I can add another name to the list of people I've pissed off on this island." Despite being a bit tender on her bad leg, even avoiding using it at times, she's making good time. "So what was it you wanted to talk about?" "I was wondering how you'd like a bracelet." Daken explains. "After all this climbing, we might want to give your leg a little rest." He lingers a bit lower behind, adopting more of a support role if he's needed. Anette pauses, gripping the rocks firmly as she looks over to Daken. "A bracelet? What do you mean, bracelet?" she asks curiously. At the suggestion of taking care of her leg, she glances down and shrugs. "I've been resting that damn thing for a month. I promise, I'll go easy on it and if anything feels weird, I'll stop. Fair enough?" "Fair enough." Daken says, climbing up a bit more. "And a bracelet, you seem to be still warming up to the talons, so I thought you might appreciate a bracelet a little bit more right now." He shifts enough to cast his gaze back over the room. Anette looks over to Daken with a suspicious grin. "Oh really...interesting idea. So you wanted to talk to me about a bracelet?" She begins to slow down, apparently keeping her promise about going easy on the leg. "Yeah, just wondering if you'd like one." Daken says, shrugging as much as he can given the situation. "Then after we figure that out, we can go about smoothing out all the hard feelings we've accumulated here. Need to start working on bringing everyone together." "Why? I'll just end up angering everyone again." Anette says, turning to focus on her climbing. "It's what I do best apparently." She pauses a moment, before slowly making her way down, avoiding use of her bad leg when able. "I do too, so it's just to hold out until we can have a party." Daken doesn't take his time down, getting there and looking out for Anette until she's at the bottom. "Also, we should probably see about a cabin." "A party? What party?" Anette asks, brushing off her hands when she's safely at the bottom. "A cabin? Right...we did talk about that, didn't we?" Though she seems to remember the previous discussions, her responses is...less than enthusiastic. "Us...moved into a cabin...together." "I'll still sleep on the couch, so it's your cabin. But stray dogs can't get into your bed without using their hands. And if that's the case, they can't blame a dog mind." Daken lifts his shoulders in a slight shrug. "The only way to figure out which was used would be removing it, in that case." "I don't want you sleeping on a couch. What's wrong with neighboring cabins?" Anette frowns as Daken brings up the dog again. "Not this again. He didn't mean anything by it. Would you stop being so...you?" She makes her way off to the side and grabs a bottle of water. "And you were telling me I need to make nice with everyone here." "I plan on being nice. I was going to apologize for the fighting, but then that. I'm giving him one more shot at friendship before I beat the shit out of him and lock him in a box." Daken says simply. "And you know you love it when I get like this, makes your blood boil in a pleasant kind of way." He shoots a wink and moves over to kiss Anette's shoulder. "I get angry because I love you." "I suppose that's the best I can expect from you," Anette says, opening the bottle and taking a large gulp of water. "Mmm...I wouldn't hold my breath on that one," she says as he accuses her of enjoying it, though she does grin as he kisses her shoulder. "So that's what I do wrong. I just love you. All my anger is purely selfish." "Exactly, just a fiery passion. I'd be worried if we said we loved each other, and we never got pissed off." Daken fetches his own bottle of water and drinks at least half of it. "Besides, the best part about having a cabin is privacy." He flashes a roguish grin and waggles his eyebrows. "Exactly! Privacy! Yours and mine. Separate cabins," Anette says, kissing his cheek with a wink. "Maybe we can get a dog though," she teases with a wink. She finishes off her water and tosses the bottle off to the side. "You just love making me worry while I'm not sleeping." Daken says with a sigh, moving up behind Anette and giving her a sharp pop on the rear. "But that's fine, because I give you a hard time too." "What about this is making you worry, darling?" Anette says, jumping slightly and smirking as her bottom is slapped. "Yes, yes you do. It's only fair I make your life miserable in return." "I just have a habit of imagining the worst things that could happen." Daken wraps his arms around Anette's waist and kisses her nose. "But I trust you more than the negativity in my head. But I'm only making the exception for you." "I know sweetie," Anette says, smiling softly as he kisses her nose. "Thank you. You know I love and trust you, too." |
