From indoor gardens to outdoor, though without the protective greenhouse glass the back gardens do not last all year round. Still, the gardens out here are well-tended and well-worth spending time in, as well. The paths wending through the beds of flowers and herbs and vegetables spread out through the school's back grounds, tended by students as a credit class. Benches offer seating and a small pond is home to koi and turtles, as well as a few frogs. At the far back edges of the garden, a droning buzzing marks a few stacked white boxes as beehives. Rasa hasn't been the best of students the last few days. Once hir unexpected guest arrived, hir attention has been less than focused. Ze was giddy at least on Wednesday and Thursday, if horrendously distracted. By Friday, ze is practically twitchy. The impending weekend makes the waiting more unbearable. The clock ticks by slower, and the closer the end comes, the further away it seems. Ze has been moody and frustrated, but does hir best to remain level headed and attentive - at least to hir homework anyway. Currently, ze is sitting on a bench in the gardens, as close to the beehives as possible without disrupting the bees' daily flying patterns. Ze is sitting next to a stack of books with hir lunch in hir lap. One hand holds a rather listless turkey sandwich in one hand, hir face pointed toward the sound of buzzing rather. Ze is dressed in a long sleeved black shirt with a short sleeved T on top, bright red with small black, red, and flesh-toned figures on the front. It states 'The Inconceivables!' and the figures look like a cross between the cast of 'The Princess Bride' and 'The Incredibles.' Baggy jeans cover hir legs, with a twitchy tail flipping this way and that as ze thinks. Hir gloves, black ones that stop at hir wrists, rest on top of the stack of books. Jax is just leaving the building, a small cooler held in one hand and a newly eBay'd FreakAngels messenger bag slung over his shoulder. He's dressed in very paint-splattered faded jeans, lime green predominant in its mess of streaks and speckles, and a brightly rainbow colour-blocked sweatshirt over a black t-shirt featuring a pink heart over a starburst of broken arrows; it reads 'COMPASSION IS INVINCIBLE' around the design. His little one-eyed beagle tags along at his heels, eagerly tail-wagging though Obie's eyes seem more set on the cooler than on Jax. He has /priorities/. "Tch," Jax chides quietly, lifting the cooler a little higher. "You ate this ain't for you." Obie darts off ahead at this, frisking his way over to Rasa instead to first rear up and drop his forepaws on the bench beside hir; he backs down after a moment, sitting on the ground beside Rasa with a small whine. Eyes fixed on the turkey sandwich. His rump keeps half-lifting off the ground; he is not very /excellent/ at staying put when there is food SO CLOSE in sight. His one huge eye turns to Rasa imploringly. "Don't listen to him," Jax calls cheerfully, "s'a shameless mooch an' he's /eated/ already no matter what I'm-totally-starvin' face he gives you." "Pfff." Rasa replies, looking down when the dog appears, lifting the lunchmeat sandwich just a little further out of the dog's reach. "People food makes dogs gassy and uncomfortable," ze lectures Obie quietly. "A moment on the tongue and farts forever after." Ze inhales and switches hir attention from the dog to his companion, a dismal little smile following. "I know how well you take care of him. He's a good boy. He just can't help what his little heart desires." Ze takes another bite of hir food and reaches with hir free hand to pet the dog. "He's a good boy," Jax agrees with an easy smile. "Jus' sometimes real single-minded." There is just a little drool forming at Obie's lips, his (so-so-starving!) gaze turned imploringly to Rasa. He flicks his eye to the turkey sandwich and back to Rasa and back to Sandwich. His tail gives one hopeful thump, head butting up into Rasa's petting. "Guess it /can/ be kinda hard t'think on much else when what y'/really/ want is so close. Day's half through, though." A look of pure teenage annoyance is leveled at Jax, due to his pointing out the similarities between hir situation and Obie's. It requires too much energy to maintain though and Rasa's facial muscles relax soon after. "Well, someone has broken the universe and time isn't flowing properly. This lunch break is taking forever and classes are in slow motion. You're part of the teaching staff. Aren't you supposed to be looking into incidents that are possibly supernatural in nature, in case a mutant is screwing with the balance of everything?" Jax's nose crinkles up, his hand lifting to rub at the back of his neck a little sheepishly, though his smile doesn't actually dim. "Oh, no way. The teachin' staff jus' teaches. Dealin' with all the wonky supernatural stuff is totally X-Men territory, ain't nothin' t'do with teachin'." He thumps the cooler he carries lightly against his thigh, tipping his head back to turn sunglass-covered gaze up towards the sky briefly. "Don't think it's nothin' supernatural, though. S'Friday. It's fair standard that Fridays take longer'n every other day." "Fine." Still disgruntled, Rasa stuffs another bite off food in hir mouth and chews away hir displeasure. Grrr. Take that processed food. See how you like it mashed between molars. Hir tail starts twitching again, hir expression downcast. "I might sign out for the weekend. I don't know. Everything's kind of up in the air." Ze turns hir teeth on hir lip next, gaze shifting from the ground in front of Jackson's feet to the cooler, then looks up at Jax's face. "Someone else's lunch?" "Could do, if y'can find someone willin' to sign y'out for all weekend. Though Ivan's welcome here anyway if y'can't." Jax crouches down, holding out a hand to Obie and scratching at the dog's head when he comes back near. "Oh, mine's in here too. S'got -- food an' blood for Dusk, though, I was gonna. Check up on him 'fore I head downtown." "Ah. Never mind, then." Rasa leans forward and rests hir elbows on hir knees. Hir free hand combs stray hairs back behind hir ear as ze contemplates hir sandwich. After a moment of distraction, ze makes eye contact with Jax and gives him a little smile. "I shouldn't keep you from your lunch. Don't want to hold up your day. I'll see you around." Jax's brow furrows in mild puzzlement, mouth opening for a moment and then closing again. He pats Obie against the beagle's ribs, standing afterwards with a small nod. "Aright. Y'have a good one," he answers with a warm smile in return. His tongue clicks lightly to Obie, and his black-nailpolished fingers curl in a wave as he hitches his messenger bag further onto his shoulder and turns to head down a path and continue out of the garden. |
