2013-12-2 Toma and a drunk Nicoleta meet Dex! Toma gets slapped in the process. |
Location
<NYC> East Village | |
Historically a center of counterculture, the East Village has a character all its own. Home to artists and musicians of many colours, this neighborhood is known for its punk vibe and artistic sensibilities. The birthplace of many protests, literary movements, it is home to a rather diverse community and vibrant nightlife. With the worst of the epidemic over, the night life of the East Village is once again waking up. Not to the extent it had been, certainly, and the debris that is still evident as a reminder of what happened is still around, but the streets aren't empty of life. Or unlife. And so, there's activity, though most of it for people older than a teen boy that's situated leaning against a grungy dark blue van, just outside a closed tattoo parlor. The van probably hasn't moved for weeks, by the state of it. People pass by, many of them entering the warmth of different shops that have managed to open for business. Other than some automatic critical stares, Dex is ignored for now: probably attracting the stares due to his vacant, haunted look. The Lupei twins, Toma and Nicoleta, are currently walking down the road, wearing matching black TMNT hoodies. Toma is leading Nicoleta by her arm, as Nicoleta seems..to be intoxicated, to say the least? Possibly high, but then again she's not much different when she is high than when she isn't. As Toma leads his sister down the road trying not to drop his twin, he trips over a piece of debris, causing him to let go of Nicoleta and almost stumble directly into Dex. Toma luckily is able to stop himself, as Nicoleta stumbles around, heavily drunk. Toma looks at Dex, speaking. "Oh, sorry there, didn't mean for that. Are you alright?" Despite that vacant look, Dex's in far better shape than Nicoleta, it appears: he immediately spots Toma stumbling right at him, and jerks his hands up to block: evidently not interested in somebody falling directly on him. Since he doesn't actually make contact, Dex'll end up with his hands up and partially crossed to block nothing. His hands and forearms have a lot of deep scrapes and scabs on them, as if recently he fended off somebody that was trying to claw or bite him and was pretty successful at doing so. "Aghhhh, yeah. Fine. Surprised me. Pretty good undead impression." Dex heaves a heavy, kind of shuddering breath, and clearly tries to divert with, "Uh; is she alright?" Toma immediately notices the injuries, but answers his question first, with a slightly worried face. "She's fine, just drank..quite too much.". Nicoleta stumbles over to him, speaking loudly in Romanian. < TOMA, LET'S GO HOME ALREADY. >. Toma turns back to her, replying. < Just a moment. > He then turns back to Dex. "You're not, uh, infected, are you? Because I said one of the infection words and I'm pretty sure I don't want to get infected.". "Oh. I can't blame her," Dex says simply, dropping his hands -- but not in an embarrassed way, just feeling a little foolish for being so jumpy. Dex cocks his head a little bit, listening to the Romanian with no comprehension at all, aside from clearly following the tone of the words. "Infected? I don't know, but no symptoms, so," Dex says, in a really tired way, but not in fear. More just a tone of depression or apathy about it: one of those shellshocked people, possibly. "I wonder how many people still have it." "From what the papers and stuff say, very few are still being seen around. It's mostly gone, and the city will be returning to normal.". Toma pauses, as Nicoleta begins grabbing on his arm, but he still continues speaking to Dex. "Where are your parents? They're probably worried.". Nicoleta begins talking, still loud, but now in English. "WHO GIVES A FUCKING RAT'S ASS ABOUT HIS PARENTS, TOMA, LET'S GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE. KID'S CREEPING ME OUT.". Toma turns to her, back in Romanian. < Shh, I'm busy here. >. He then turns back to Dex. "Do you need help getting home? She'll manage.". Dex stares at Nicoleta when she suddenly is... well, so extremely loud. He looks probably about as creeped out as she describes feeling! "Normal. Mmm. Will it?" Dex says much more quietly, and his expression gets far, far darker. As if all the emotion just kind of melted off into the gutter at his feet. "Honestly I'm more worried about the people that are afraid, than the infected." He kind of flinches at the parent comment. It's probably clear that's a terrible subject, with his tactless dodge answer: "Grandma's okay with me being out. Thanks, though," he says, with a forced smile that doesn't look very convincing. But clearly happy to let Nicoleta get her way. Toma looks like he's going to continue pressing Dex, until Nicoleta smacks him in the face. He turns to her, not really upset, more frustrated, and then turns back to Dex. "Okay then, take care of yourself.". Toma then begins ranting at Nicoleta in Romanian before the twins go out on their merry way. "Sure," Dex says, a bit curiously, surprised at the slap of one sibling to the other. He moves out a little bit to watch them go, with a sort of vague longing at their interaction with each other. ....and it does make him turn, and start on home. Grandma shouldn't have to worry. |
