xxxxxA woman who went from farm-life to street-life to academia to being a lawyer in America. Originally French. Has /lots/ of connections -- particularly with telepaths -- many whom tend to find her presence quite... soothing.

xxxxxBorn on a French farm, Claire Basil eventually ran away with her sister (a more obvious mutant), grew up on city streets, got noticed by a man interested in children with psionic abilities, and eventually ended up with a large endowment from said gentleman after his death. She used said endowment to move to the Americas, where she studied psychology and law. She still has contact with a lot of her fellow French students (all of whom received sizable endowments from their deceased teacher), almost all of whom are telepaths of varying power.
xxxxxThey form something of an 'unofficial club', and even meet once a year to compare notes in the struggle for affirming mutant rights.

xxxxxClaire has the ability to increase or decrease 'clarity' in parties around her. She has practiced the former to the point where she does it without thinking to everyone around her; people tend to think more clearly in her presence. However, her power's potency decreases in relation to how many people she's trying to effect at once -- more people means less power.
xxxxxShe cannot change someone's mind, or their goals -- but she can help them think of ways to reach those goals more effectively (or interfere with the ability to think of ways to reach those goals). In short, she defrags people's mental hard-drives (or RE-frags them). This makes her highly useful for telepaths -- when used positively, she can 'optimize' their ability to compartmentalize and organize. It also makes her highly /dangerous/ to telepaths -- since she can /shut down/ their ability to do this.

| Telepaths - She likes to keep in contact with telepaths. Part of this is because she can help them; part of this is because she wants to keep an /eye/ on them. She's known a few that were extra naughty.

| Mutant Rights - A bit subtle about it, but very passionate. She tends not to be loud if only because she's found being loud makes it harder to be effective. But when she thinks she can get away with it, she'll /get/ loud.
