2014-01-16 Selene scans Dex's dark, depressing thoughts. |

The sublime center is a center for mutant pride, for gatherings, for support. There's a teen hanging out on the outside of it, seated nearly in the gutter, his hands flung back loosely behind him onto the cement. He's relatively clean, and entirely human looking, certainly not worth much of a look in general. He's clearly unhappy or depressed, just sitting there, though he does watch an obvious red-skinned mutant go into the center. His scowl is immediate, just like any human might make at the ugly mutant passing by, but the frustrated emotion around it is far different: That that mutation must be /far better/ than his own, and it isn't /fair/. Two figures walk towards the Sublime center, together, but only one enters the actual building. Waiting outside for her bodyguard, Casper Laurent, Selene Gallio is dressed in her black peacoat, furred boots, and black trousers, as she runs a trace down the immediate area. Noticing Dex, she runs a surface thought probe on him, as she stands near him, looking around, tapping her feet. Dex certainly looks at Selene, since, well, she stands out, with her rich attire. Pretty, adult woman. Older than he is. He looks directly at her boots, the sense of the corpses there prickling his brain. Angrily he looks away-- not because of the fur itself, but annoyance at his mutation that made him aware of it, and continue to be aware of it, even though he's not looking. Stupid dead things all over the place. Can't go anywhere without his mutation revving up. He's mostly thinking about ignoring his mutation at the moment, and feeling sorry for himself. Looking over Dex's surface thoughts, Selene is curious, and immediately begins acting the 'concerned adult' role she's done in the past, her face expressing it. "Are you alright? What's wrong?". She's keeping a trace on his surface thoughts, as she talks to him. "Do your folks know where you are, sir?". Dex flushes a little automatically, embarrassed he drew attention to himself somehow. He looks up, but smiles a little. It's forced but not a bad smile really: polite. "Oh, they died, so it doesn't matter where I am," he says, in a way that reveals only a tiny a fraction of the immense painful inner sensation saying that actually causes, but probably a lot of his current depression. A huge festering ball of guilt that he couldn't save them roars to his inner mind. An image of his mother's zombie hungry face. "---Just hanging out, I'm good." He's not interested in this rich stranger treating him like a wounded puppy or something, so he stays vague and polite. "Do you need me to call someone to pick you up? A relative? Perhaps some nice police officers or social workers?". Selene is still faking her concern, very well infact, but truly doesn't give a damn about this kid. Just bored and trying to pass the time. At the disgusting mental images, she flinchs, but quickly snaps out of it. "You sure?" "No, I'll walk home soon, really, thanks." Maybe after being taken on a gourney into the morgue, he adds in quiet, sad amusement to himself. The thought toys in his mind teasingly, as if it's often something he thinks about doing, but rejects often. It comes with some thoughts about suicide: in a rather emotionless way. That death would be nice, since the emotional pain would ebate. His reassuring smile is probably as fake as her concern. Pulling a name check off Dex, Selene nods, sensing her bodyguard leaving the building, carrying several business cards. "Well, alright then. Take care, apologies for your parents.". Selene waits for Casper to get to her, as she finishes. "Have a nice night.". Dex waves vaguely at her, consumed in his own thoughts. Jackson told him not to go. It's still a bad idea. Remembering Jackson's words about not torturing the dead, he starts to get to his feet, distracted by his own issues, sighing. Better to go home, it IS late. He shoves his hands into his pockets against muscular legs, and starts away. |
