Prometheus facility

As EVIL GOVERNMENT MAD SCIENCE LABS go, this facility is actually a rather nice one; it has more the feel of a quiet residential treatment facility -- perhaps rehab? Perhaps mental health? Though the kind that people go to if they actually have funds to pay for comfort with their care -- than it does a horrible torture lab. The accomodations aren't swank but they are comfortable, cozy dorms, lots of recreation times, plenty of activities available for those who are stuck here long-term.

Drills, too, for the military members staying with them; daily PT regimens so as not to get slack in their stint away from normal duty.

Right now, though, it's none of that -- just a quiet room much like where any other doctor would receive patients. The man waiting for Jason's arrival doesn't look at the moment particularly /doctory/, jeans and a plain black tee, though his ID tag -- Dr. Tosh Nishimura -- definitely claims he is. He's not an unfamiliar face; he's worked with Jason before through his treatments, a wirey and wired young man, brilliant but perhaps /over/energetic. At the moment he's not sitting still, pacing the room with a bounce-bounce-/bounce/ on his toes.

Jason Sanders was indeed on his way into the doctor's office. He has signed paper work, he knows the drill, and well-- he already got his treatment. Though the day after he wasn't filling all to great, but the next day-- he was fine. This being perhaps that day or the day after. He has slightly lost count; Though he is sure they haven't.

The young man was in his mid twenties. He had dirty blonde hair kept in the proper military fashion and he was a rather athletic sort. More muscle then fat on his build, but what you expect from someone in the military and though he has served his four years already, he was now on reserve status; But good to know he kept himself in shape for when the time came to be called on.

Those amber brown eyes look at the door, before he walks inside and notices the pacing doctor. Was he-- that late? Or was this guy just pacing the floor due to how energetic he was. Either way, once in the room Jason gives a mild wave of his hand, a smirk on his lips, and he has a mild southern draw. Though it was hard to pick up on, beyond a few settle words that hand it in them. "Hope I didn't keep you waitin' to long, sir."

Jason was wearing a pair of jeans and a tan under armor shirt. Though he didn't need to wear the normal military under armor and he /could/ wear a normal t-shirt, he happen to like how light it felt and found them always much more comfortable.

Dr. Nishimura is, really, just /always/ like this, full of energy almost to a fault. He glances up with a bright smile, clapping his hands together once. "Sir - oh, /me/, right, uh, Tosh is fine, really. Please come, sit --" He gestures to the examination table, covered over with the typical thin sheet of white paper. "How /are/ you feeling? Any better? Any changes? I'm just going to get your vitals to start off, right? Right right." It's routine enough but by habit he says what he's doing /anyway/.

"I'll try to keep that in mind, Tosh." Jason says with a grin, "But I can make no promises." He then makes his way over to the table, easy as he pleases, before getting up on it and keeps his arms available for whatever the dear doctor needs to do.

"Well, beyond feeling pretty sick that first day, nothing much else really. Feel fine, can pretty much do everything I did before coming here-- about the same way. Maybe a.. slight increase in appetite, but I blame that on some case of boredom at time." Jason states with mild chuckle. "Though is it normal for some to take a bit before results happen?" Not that Jason was in any rush to see if something /does/ happen, but still be nice if something /did/ happen while he was here. "I mean.. hate to find out nothing happens and be a waste of everyone's time. Well-- I guess wouldn't be a complete waste righ'? Data is data."

"Mmm, mmm." Tosh manages to make the act of taking blood pressure look /bustly/, strapping on the cuff, clipping on the pulse-ox; it really all shouldn't need /quite/ as much movement as he puts in. And yet. "Appetite, appetite. No that's -- that's good, that's, these changes can be fairly taxing on --" His brow creases, dark eyes flicking over Jason. "No, no, it. It usally has fairly immediately apparent results." /Frown/. His tongue clicks against his teeth, smile returning momentarily to push the frown back. "But! But then again, the /source/ from which your serum was derived, they're, not /quite/ so -- mm. Perhaps there's a latent -- I'll schedule you for another treatment over the weekend. Hopefully we can start seeing some /progress/ by next week, yes yes?"

His bounce does at least settle as he pumps up the cuff to watch the needle rise and then fall on the blood pressure gauge. "Healthy still. You're /all/ so very healthy." He sounds quite pleased about this as he marks something down on Jason's chart. "Oh, oh, more data points is /never/ a waste. Never a waste -- just sometimes means we have some tweaking to do, right?"

Jason watches as the doctor does his thing in a very uppity manner and is slightly surprised by, well, how he can manage what he does. He raises an eye brow as he listens, but stays quiet for the most part, then furrows his brows at the comment of 'latent'.

Also he fact the dear doctor likes to bounce in the subject as well, which makes it tricky at times to follow, but Jason was indeed trying to keep up with some of it at least. "So we get another treatment over the weekend and then cross our fingers something happens?" Jason chuckles. "Sounds like its going to be another fun evening." He muses to really himself as he looks around the room a bit.

"So what if we don't see anything happen by next week?" Jason asks looking back at the Tosh. "..also what did you mean by Latent?"

"Another treatment, cross our fingers, pray to the science gods --" Tosh turns his eyes briefly skywards. Or ceiling-wards, anyway. "Latent -- I just mean that it's possible the treatment has taken but the particular /expression/ of abilities that you're showing has yet to manifest. More likely, though," he says with another -- almost sad! -- twitch of lips, "in a significant minority of our subjects, the treatments just don't take. That's why we're so glad to have your help here, without our volunteers we really could never make the progress we need on getting this ready for you guys to --"

His hands spread in front of him before he goes about unstrapping the cuff, trading it out for a thermometer that he doesn't /stick/ anywhere but simply swipes quickly along Jason's forehead and then touches it behind his ear. "-- well, to do what you do. Be all the more prepared to help defend --" And then just like that, another bounce-back to the actual /question/. "If we don't see results by next week - well. It can be hazardous to your health to /over/treat, so we'll likely send you home, refine your treatment a while, call you back if you're willing in a few months' time when we can try again."

Jason watches the man go about quick steps, almost leans back slightly with the swipe. Now just giving Tosh a raised eye brow and a mild tilt of his head. He stays quiet for a bit and then gives a gentle nod in understanding. "Got it. I am willing to walk through hell if this stuff will give our people the fighting chance they will need, so even if it is hell. I'll still be up for it even after a few months time-- if.. this doesn't take."

Jason does frown a little in that thought, or whatever other thoughts may be going through his mind. His view goes to the floor for a moment, before he inhales deeply and looks back to Tosh. "Anything else you need, Tosh?"

"I am going to need some blood --" And Tosh is already flitting away, now, to prepare a tray with the necessary equipment, squirt sanitizer into his hands, pull on a pair of gloves. "See, that's such a good attitude. So many people come through here and they just have no appreciation for what we're trying to /build/ --" His head shakes in what would be mild dismay though his continued smile makes it hard to look really /dismayed/. "Arm please -- and there's someone I'd like you to meet, soon. Perhaps not today. I think they might be in testing today. -- What /will/ you do," he asks with sudden interest, "if it /does/ take?"

"Well, I do place my country first, sir-- urm-- Tosh. After all, we give our lives on the front lines to keep America free, doesn't make sense to not risk our lives in other forms beyond jus' guns blazin'." Jason says as he places his arm out for the Doctor to draw blood from. He doesn't seem to bothered by the needles, though he does slightly glance away.

"..and wha' will I do?" Jason furrows his brows in thought. He falls very quiet, thinking on it. "I-- really don't know. Probably whatever else needs to be done. The more you guys understand, the better off we will all be in the end, righ'?"

Jason looks at the ground for a moment, as he slides his teeth against one another ever so gently. "Long as I have my humanity.. I'll do whatever I must for the people.." His words have a bit of unsteadiness to them. As if he isn't even fully sure if those are the right words to say or-- if he can even make it happen.

Jason inhales deeply before he shakes his head just ever-so, before looking back at Tosh. "So who is the guy you want me to meet once he is available?"

"Oh, you'll always be /human/, we're not going to take /that/ from you." There's a light note of laughter in Tosh's tone. Despite all his exuberance his hands are steady as he swabs down Jason's arm, ties off the tourniquet -- it's just one small prick! then he is attaching Vacutainer tubes to the holder to collect a /few/ vials of blood. "Oh, just one of our other subjects, here. They're very adept at detecting X-Gene expressions and augmenting them -- but we're looking into seeing how that relates to those who've only been imbued with abilities syntheticaly. You know, you could just think of it like medicine? People don't get less human because medicine has granted them the ability to /live/ longer than they otherwise would, do they?"

"Nah, medicine doesn't do that. Just there are a few of those guys out there I do question on how much of the humanity they do have." Jason admits furrowing his brows a bit before he shakes his head. "But yeah, sure, everything is goin' to be alrigh'." He says at the end with a bit of a soft sigh. "Just.. I guess.. I never thought of what I'd do after all this was done and if it did take."

"And detecting the x-gene huh? If I remember right, that is what changes them from us, correct? What you guys are-- artificially trying to duplicate and remove." Jason says with a little hint of uncertainty in his voice. After all. He is a soldier, not a scientist.

"That is what codes for the potential abilities that mutants posses, yes. We're not, actually, changing your /genetics/ at all, though. Only trying to replicate a limited selection of the abilities it brings. I suppose," Tosh finally decides as he sets the last vial of blood in its holder and presses a button to pull the needle back out of Jason's vein, a tiny folded bit of gauze band-aided into place over the injection site, "that, maybe, the decision will be partially made for you. I mean, the Army, they'll help you figure out next steps, right?"

Jason watches as the gauze is placed on and doesn't say to much now. He does flex his hand a little that had blood drawn from and then leans back a bit. His silence remain. Food for thought was given to him and he wasn't overly sure how to go about chewing on it. Beyond telling himself it was for the good of his country. That is-- all he could tell himself right now.

Not like this was going to be a big deal, right? Get some super strength maybe, maybe lightning speed. That is what made the mutants so dangerous, is they looked human, but yet there was things about them that was-- not.

"Well, thanks Tosh for giving some food for thought, but I trust you guys. Your the experts on this stuff after all." He says with a smirk before giving a shrug of his shoulders. "Any more tests or stuff you need to collect? I'm probably just going to go back to my room and read a bit. So whatever you guys want me to do.."

"I think you're set, for now. Later on in the evening one of the orderlies will bring you in for some physical exercises -- just to check if there is any change over your baseline performance. But." Tosh beams bright, setting the needle in a sharps box and disposing of the rest of the collections equipment in a bright biohazard bin. "For now just! Enjoy your reading. Maybe get outside a little, it's a gorgeous day."

"Haha. Yeah, I may take a bit of a stroll." Jason admits with a grin as he steps back down and rolls his shoulders a bit. He then looks over at Tosh, then extends his hand to the lively doctor. "Always a pleasure, Tosh.. and if that fellow gets freed up, I'll be glad to speak with them."

"I'll make sure the orderlies track him down to find time to meet with you. Of course, it might just -- have little result at this stage. Still, best to know. Keep track. Build up more information. You have a wonderful day, Jason." Tosh pulls off his gloves to throw them away and then leans forward to clasp Jason's hand in a firm squeeze of shake. He picks up the clipboard with Jason's chart and the tray of blood samples, giving the soldier another smile before flitting off to tend to his specimens.
