(Part of TP-Laughter)

Dramatis Personae

Pierrot

In Absentia

2014-09-26

After going silent once again after Edward Leone's death, Pierrot returns with a sudden, bloody message to the world, streaming it across multiple media sites.

Location

The Internet

The video opens straight to a close up of Pierrot's mask, before he rolls the chair he is sitting in backwards, showing his full outfit, bulletproof vest, gloves, and iconic blood-spatter patterned mask. A bloody blade visibly rests to his side, and he seems to be in the bedroom of what is presumably a one-story house. He does not speak, but added subtitles are at the bottom of the screen, as well as a full transcript of all the dialogue and description of the events in the video inside the description. The video seems to be filmed with a laptop web cam, and whilst it picks up no noise, Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata plays over the video.

"I am Pierrot. You may have heard of me, perhaps for the murders in Los Angeles, or for the recent murders of Themis employees and the scum of the earth Edward Leone. You may be doubting I am actually who I say I am."

Pierrot swivels the chair to the side, revealing a large pool of blood, and more importantly, a corpse lying on its back, male, a mask resting on his back, drenched in blood. Caucasian, bald, most likely about six foot and 200-something pounds. Pierrot walks over and forcibly steps on the back of the man's throat, before returning to his chair.

"All doubt most likely has been removed now. The man lying there is not a victim. Got off on assault because the mutant victim was too terrified to press charges. He wasn't a threat in general, but he lived alone and gave me the opportunity to release this rather important message."

Pierrot visibly cracks his knuckles, tilting his head to the side, before positioning it back to stare directly at the camera.

"My message is actually more of a declaration. You see, I am a mutant. That is not the declaration, since it was well-speculated, even if my powers are unknown. Do I have the ability to detect humans? Can I creep into a room undetected even right in front of someone? Am I a shapeshifter? No one knows."

Pierrot zooms the camera in closer to his mask.

"December 16th, 2013. The "Mutant Registration Act", which I prefer to refer to as the 'Invasion of Privacy Act', was passed into law, requiring all US citizens to register their status as a mutant, describe their abilities, and then get classified to a certain level, or face fines and jail time. The MRA has actually hurt mutant lives, making it harder for us to get jobs, work in the government, many, many things."

He tilts his head.

"There's more events that have happened since then, many, many more, but I'll be brief. Village Lofts in East Village destroyed in hate crime, physically mutant bodies found dismembered, Prometheus..I won't go into Prometheus, it'd take up quite a bit of time, and you all know enough about it to guess how I feel about it."

Pierrot stretches back in the chair, hands moving to the back of his head, the blood on his gloves becoming more visible.

"Very recently? People are getting arrested for just being mutant. On only the 11th, a human was arrested simply because the police thought he was mutant. No signs of abilities, no assault, just because they thought he was mutant. Yesterday, something beautiful happened. Mood-altering mutant lashes out against the police. She stood up to the fact that she was being oppressed by the city, by the state, by the nation, by the world for..being born different."

Back to a zoom in.

"Better."

And then it zooms back out.

"We are called 'freaks', 'mutants', 'monsters'. What we are? Evolved. Hominids have changed over the millenia, evolving eventually into homo sapiens. And now, into homo novus, as I prefer to call it. The new stage of humanity. Adapting, obtaining abilities that allow us to do stuff that no man was capable of doing in the past. They're jealous, afraid of us, and as such, oppress, assault, kill us, lock us in prisons and treat us like rodents. They are the reason people like I exist."

Pierrot taps a bloody finger on the camera, slightly smearing it.

"My declaration, that I referred to earlier? It is of war. Not against the city, the state, the nation. Against man. Against homo sapiens. I will not stop until change is made. Homo sapiens are defunct. Homo novus shall rise up. There are those out there that think like me, that why should we be oppressed? The Brotherhood of Mutants, the girl from yesterday, and many more in the future. I encourage this. Stand up! Stand up for who you are! You have abilities, use them! Don't live in fear anymore."

Pierrot stands up, facing the camera as he pushes the chair aside.

"Choose a side."

The camera then is shut off.
