"Haunted huh? That actually sounds pretty badass."

Location

<NYC> Freaktown - Riverdale

With the sun shining, the birds singing, and the homes still occupied with residents who previously had little elsewhere to go. As she often is, Winona is out filming in Riverdale, taking advantage of the access to this historic part of the city while she still can get away with it. At the moment, she is moving smoothly down the side of the road, taking a framing shot moving through this particular area of town. She wears a black t-shirt, with the worn words 'The Twilight Zone' on it, and a pair of pink, white and purple camo style pants. She comes to a stop to look down at the screen on the camera to review the shot, her rainbow swoop hair falling in front of her eyes as she looks down to it. Where she is stopped is in front of a large house, the walls covered by what appears to be stonework and somewhat obscured by two large trees that stand out in front of the property.

With calloused hands placed comfortably in the pockets of his cuffed jeans, Luca rounds the corner while on yet another one of his daily strolls. His mid-length, brown hair is pulled into an incredibly messy bun; the unkempt waves seeming to reflect the business inside his head as he almost interrupts the young woman’s shot.

“Shit, my bad,” He apologises, stopping in his tracks before pinching the bridge of his nose - realising that even if he’d stopped just in time to not ruin the camerawork, his words would’ve definitely done the trick.

If Winona even seems bothered about it, she doesn't show it, just stopping in her travels. She shakes her head, "This is just some b-roll, some people getting in the shots is just how these things end up working. It should seem candid, anyways." After the explanation, she offers a slight smile of greeting. "Plus, I should probably be the one apologizing for getting in your way. How are you doing?"

A brief wave of relief washes over the young man as his body follows suit and seems to relax a little, “Oh, cool. Glad I wasn’t in the way, looked like a pretty good shot!” Not that he really knows anything about what makes a ‘good shot’. Doesn’t hurt to try though. “Nah you’re good, it is a public street after all.” His responses seem jovial enough, but there’s definitely no mistaking that something is hiding behind the glint in his lilac irises. “I’m doing okay, all things considered. Little restless I guess? How about you, I see you’re still up to your filming?”

"For sure. If I stop filming, you can pretty much assume I've been mind controlled or something," says Winona, and she gestures towards the house that she had stopped in front of. "One of the residents claimed this place is haunted. So. Figured I would do a little research work. I figure that it's probably actually just another person staying around here causing some weird seeming stuff. Enough mutants around, and hauntings start to feel like the least weird thing happening." She shrugs helplessly at that, "But a lead is a lead. What's got you feeling restless? Or just like..." She gestures widely to mean the world in general.

“Noted,” He chuckles, confirming her joke as he recalls back to always seeing Winona with some sort of equipment in hand, ever since they got out of Prometheus. There it is again, that wretched place Luca just can’t seem to shake from his thoughts. It’s haunting him a little, much like the house before the two of them, but maybe now isn’t the time to talk about it. Winona seems to have moved on, at least for the most part. “It’s nothing, just need to spend my time a little more wisely is all. Actually make a difference somehow.” He isn’t even sure what he’s referring to, but it just makes sense in his busy mind. Shaking his head, he returns his thoughts to the house before them. “Haunted huh? That actually sounds pretty badass.“ His glowing eyes drift over to the overgrown exterior, scanning for any signs of ghosts or ghouls in the windows. Not sure what he expected to see, but it sure isn’t a ghost, or a ghoul for that matter.

"Nothing to do but your best, don't cha know. Sometimes I feel like I'm wasting time, but if you need to spend some time on nothing, best to spend it," says Winona. She kicks up her skateboard to take it in hand and then her gaze turns up towards the window as well. She squints as if also scanning for something, but there is no sign of discovery in her expression after a few moments. "Don't know how badass it would be. But old houses like this one always have some kind of sad story or another to discover."

“I didn’t take you for the wise type,” Luca jests, not truly meaning his words but really letting Winona’s sink in for a minute. “Need some help?” He asks abruptly, “With the discovery I mean? I figure if anyone can find out the history of a house like this super quickly it’s you - one touch and the whole story’s yours - but I don’t think I can take moping around on another aimless stroll.” He chuckles, slowly realising he should get more involved with the mutant community around him.

"Usually takes a little more figuring than one touch, but it makes it a lot easier, for sure," agrees Winona. She gestures Luca on as she starts up the walkway towards the front of the house. "These things are always much better when you've got a trusty assistant to stick with you. "Haveta make sure I don't overlook anything... plus hold the camera if I ever want to get in frame." She grins lopsidedly, "Plus, if anything real spooky is going on there, hopefully there's some safety in numbers."

“I don’t know about trusty,” He chuckles once more, following Winona towards the looming porch of the house, “but I could probably get some funky angles-“ As he says this, he pulls a lighter from his pocket and flicks it alight; his other hand hovering above the flame as he absorbs the raw energy and it dissipates, his eyes glowing just a little fiercer as he does so. He then redirects his palm towards the camera in Winona’s hand as a lilac stream of pure energy seems to twirl around it, lifting it from her grasp and into the air steadily. “Aerial shots are always my favourite in movies.”

Winona watches the camera much in the way a mother dog would watch a puppy being lifted by a familiar person, a mix of trust and apprehension plain. "I have often wanted to get a drone for those kinds of shot. But it won't be the first time I can get a shot by using mutant power instead." She seems to consider this, and reaches to the camera to start the recording. "Maybe a rising shot of the front, to get a view of the property before we go in?"

“I bet,” He thinks briefly about the array of mutant abilities that could come in handy for a profession such as this, before returning to the moment once more, “I’ll be careful with it don’t you worry,” He smirks, sensing the apprehension on the other’s face as he lifts the camera higher; not before she hits record however. Without verbally confirming, he takes a couple of steps back so that he’s out of frame, before lifting his hand up to guide the camera upwards, hoping that he’s doing it at an angle that works for the shot.

Winona nods when assured that Luca will be careful, and she also steps back so that the sweeping shot can be taken. She chews her lip thougtfully as she again looks over the face of the house. "I kind of wish I could have a nice place like this. Has a pretty kind of look, all Georgian-revival style, nice yard, plenty of gardening space, only a little haunted... but I'll settle for exploring them for now."
