xxxxxBorn in Salem, MA to Katherine and Andrew Bell, Michael was their first and only child. Devoutly Catholic and fiercely anti-mutant, Katherine and Andrew tried to impress their beliefs on their son. Andrew owned a large business allowing the family to live in relative comfort and security. While they weren't super rich, the Bell family never really had a want; except for Michael just wanting to get away from his parents.
Like many children, Michael rebelled from what he called "the Oppression at Home." He felt no anger or hatred toward Mutants or other undesirables. While he didn't associate with them on a regular basis, he saw no reason they should be hated or shunned. Andrew and Michael were constantly at odds for a long time. They seemed to butt heads on all subjects. During one particularly heated argument, Michael's eyes began to glow and he collapsed in a coughing fit, expelling blood all over the perfectly white carpet. His fingers dug into the floor and even into the concrete foundation.
As Michael's skin turned blue, then almost black, the Bell family panicked and called the police. Andrew claimed that Michael was a mutant agitator targeting anti-mutant families. Michael was arrested and spent the night in a jail cell. When he was released, Michael went home and grabbed as much money as he could along with a set of clothing. Leaving his white-bread life behind and ran away. Since then, he has come to New York State following rumors of a mutant school somewhere...

xxxxxMichael's mutation manifested in strange and frightening ways. The claws that grew onto his hands are freakish, and at the same time very useful. The material they are made of is strong enough to rip through wood, punch holes in concrete, and even mar most metals. Though, they have a horrific effect on his Nikes.
As the mutation racked his body, Michael's vocal cords were torn up by the chemicals coursing through his body. They were completely destroyed, but he wasn't left without speech. Michael can protect his thoughts into another person's brain. This isn't complete telepathy, as its only one way, and manifests as just a replacement for speech. It can make it hard to make himself heard though, his throat can make no audible noises at all.
Michael's body was warped and changed incredibly. His muscles were increased to a peak human level. He is incredibly strong and fast. While he isn't super human in his physical prowess, he is at the highest level a normal human could achieve.
