Painfully Earnest Social Justice Activist
Introduction xxxxxJust your average, sheltered, suburban college kid. Double majoring in Social Work and Creative Writing and out to change the world. An ardent supporter of Mutant Rights, without ever having actually met a mutant. History xxxxxBorn and raised in suburban Cincinnati, Eliot is the youngest child of an upper-middle class family. Both parents are ex-hippies and therapists, so he was raised in perhaps the most liberal, granola-eating, social-crusading household one can imagine. Being almost ten years younger than his elder brother and sister gave him the experience of not-quite being an only child and his parent did their best to shelter him from life's harshness while inspiring him to do what he could to solve his problems and those of people around him. The result is an odd blend of resolution and innocence, in a way. Eliot tackles every problem, any problem, with a kind of unreserved enthusiasm that results in banging into a lot of walls but usually, eventually getting it done. Thus far, at least. As he ventures more into the real world, especially in his chosen field of social work, he's starting to learn that some problems can't be solved in ways that let him feel good about it afterwards. Eliot's latest cause is that of Mutant Rights. His parents marched with Civil Rights leaders, supported Women's Rights and LGBT causes and Eliot sees mutants as the next underclass of people who should be enfranchised and accepted into society. This has caused some friction with his parents because while they are very liberal (obviously), they can't bring themselves to support people as 'dangerous and socially destructive' as mutants. Powers xxxxxBoundless optimism, an unlimited transit pass and moral superiority like only a recycling, cycling, social activist, vegetarian, feminist, fair-trade supporting college student can know. Eliot is an avid cyclist and works out at least three times a week. Maybe you belong to the same gym or club? Local Flavor - Cincinnati isn't anywhere near as cosmopolitan as New York. Eliot loves to explore the city and the neighborhoods, trying out the local food and shops. He's likely to show anywhere. Even places he shouldn't.
