"I'll astral project in and you can y'know ...go streaking. Nobody'll see us coming."

Location

<XS> Jack and Sergio's Dorm - FL2

A standard, if comfortable, dorm room. Two beds, two closets, two desks.

The result of frequent and numerous care packages, Sergio’s side of the room is saturated in green and black: the colors of the Hawaii Warriors. His desk and bedside table showcase photos of his freshman football team, his boy scout troup, his large family, best friends, and his sunny, beach-filled life prior to coming to Xavier’s. A wheelchair sits at his desk in place of a chair.

The teen in question sits at the head of his bed with his legs folded beneath him. Skin and hair still damp from showering, he wears a flimsy pair of black basketball shorts as he hunches over yet another box sent from home. Moving at a noticeably deliberate pace, Sergio removes a lei from the box. One of many, he hangs the flower wreath off the headboard of his bed with a few others.

The door opens to what might be an odd sight. A floating towel wrapped around an invisible person. There's some water droplets still clinging but otherwise it's rather hard to see Jack since he's just back from a shower of his own. He hasn't gotten much chance to talk with his new roommate yet, timing not on either of their sides until now. "Oh, hey," the empty space above the towel greets as Jack pads into the room towards the dresser on his side of the room. Of course his side of the room is comparatively bare. School work on the desk, a few books from the library and other places, a small stuffed football bearing the logo of a local team that looks like it came from Coney Island, and not much else. At least he keeps things neat and clean over there.

Sergio looks up with an immediate and easy smile, "What's up?" Never having ever shared a room before, the entire dorming experience is still very novel for him. "You want some haupia?" He asks, lifting up a tupperware container out of the parcel, "Or a lei? Or a coconut bra?" His eyebrows lift up high into his forehead, eyes lingering probably somewhere between where Jack's navel and chest would be ...if he weren't invisible. "Oh, my bad! You probably want a sec," Sergio comes to the realization while staring right through Jack, his smile broadening into a wicked grin as he holds up a hand and looks back down to give the other teen some privacy.

"Nothing really, just got out of the shower," Jack chuckles. "What's haupia?" he asks. He shifts his weight a little at the staring and then flashes an unseen smile. "It's alright," he replies. "Not like anything can be seen," he adds, grabbing some boxers and a pair of shorts from a drawer. He still moves quickly as he drops his towel and pulls both pairs of shorts on. "So we haven't really had a chance to meet...uh...properly I guess," he says, turning to face the other teen once he's got his clothes on. "Probably obvious but I'm Jack."

"It's sort of, a coconut ...thing? My tutu makes it. /This isn't even from her/ but I guess she got it in somehow," Sergio peeks at the box's label as he takes a white cube for himself before offering up the open tupperware, "Yeah, I put two and two together." He laughs, "Sergio."

"Tutu?" Jack asks, glancing at the package. One of the cubes floats into the air as Jack takes it. "Thanks," he chimes, examining a moment before popping it into his mouth. It vanishes from sight as he does and he hums. "Pretty good," he replies with an unseen smile. "Nice to finally meet ya," he offers with a chuckle. “Get a lot of those packages?"

"Grandma," Sergio explains, eyes widening. He turns a little red. "You, too." He moves the box to the side as if to make room. "Yeah, I wonder how long they'll all keep this up," he stretches an arm, rubbing the back of his neck bashfully as he looks around at all of the new things, "I guess I'm the first mutant in my family?"

"Oh, probably should have guessed from context," Jack chuckles. The redness gets him arching an invisible brow but he doesn't press just yer. Moving to sit on the edge of his bed, Jack watches Sergio. "Getting too many is better than not enough," he offers. "You family was okay with the whole mutant thing?"

Sergio pouts thoughtfully, offering the shrug of a shoulder, "I mean, I'm sure /some/ of them aren't." He nibbles another coconut square before setting down the container where his new roommate can reach it. "Your's aren't?" He looks around Jack's side of the room, shifting to face him.

"You could say that," Jack replies with a little touch of bitterness. "My mother's convinced I'm a demon and my father was talking about trying to find a lab to sell me to so...pretty non-accepting," he says. "But I'm better off here," he adds a bit more cheerfully. "So how's the school been treating you so far?"

"That's /insane/. What did you do?" Sergio stares through Jack with sincere shock written over his face, "It's uhm-treating me alright?" He laughs awkwardly, "I had something wrong, in my mind, that The Professor had to repair. Has to repair. It's why-" His eyes scan towards the wheelchair, "-I sleep so much." ... there's a pause. "Are you going to be an X-Man?"

Jack blinks, not used to the shock. "Oh, I ran for it. Lived on the streets for awhile in New Jersey...but when things went bad here, I followed a few rumors to New York but ended up here at the school instead," he explains. He glances at the wheelchair when Sergio looks towards it, letting out a faint 'hmm'. The question catches him off guard and he chuckles. "Hey, if they'll let me. I mean, if they think the ghost of the laundry room would be a good addition to the team," he jokes.

Sergio grins, "Dude, we'll be our own special squad. /The ghosts./ I'll astral project in and you can y'know ...go streaking. Nobody'll see us coming. /Espionage/." He leans back into his pillow, "There's no WAY I'm not ending up a superhero."

"So, hold up," Sergio sucks coconut remnants from his fingertips, "You were homeless? How did you eat? Where did you sleep? /Is everyone in Jersey really that orange?/"

Jack laughs at the streaking comment. "Ghosts, huh? Could be a pretty good spy team," he replies, the nervousness he'd been feeling about the whole 'new roommate' situation fading. "Astral project? That's like...psychically leaving your body, right?" he asks. "You're a telepath?" the invisible one asks. He flops back as well, letting out a thoughtful hum at the idea of being a superhero. He glances over when the questions begin. "The orange only comes from people that spray tan too much. That stuff is nasty," he's tried it. "As for food and shelter...shelter was anywhere I could get it. Old buildings, boxes, any place I could sneak into for a night...and whenever I couldn't...come by some cash," he pauses, a little ashamed of his pickpocketing days. "Food was a dumpster dive away."

Sergio hums, turning to stare up at their shared ceiling, "I probably would have stolen a lot." He frowns, "From /my parents/ first." He turns to Jack, "I am. I guess. Does that bother you?" He quickly backpedals, "I can't read minds or anything. I just... see what you see. Hear what you hear." Sergio shakes his head, as if to convey very little understanding of the matter, "It can be nice. Or sad, sometimes."

"I was a little too...panicked to think to steal from them," Jack admits. "I didn't even think to go back and grab any of my stuff," he shakes his head, the pillow squishing with the movement. "Hey, don't worry about it. No problem with the whole telepath thing," he says. "See what...so you can borrow other people's senses? Or do you mean memories?"

“Yeah, I guess,” Sergio sits up, pausing to fend off vertigo before pressing the lid back on the tupperware container and moving the fedex box onto his nightstand, “Not with the memories, but the other stuff.” He runs his hands over his pillow as he lies back once more, “I just sort of wander around-” He yawns, “-when I’m asleep.”

Jack looks over with some concern at the pause. "So your powers just...kick in whenever you fall asleep? That sounds pretty rough, man..." he trails off. "I hope the Professor can help you get them under control," he replies.

"Not always," Sergio admits, "Sometimes when I'm awake and I move too fast, or I move the wrong way ...I just y'know, float away." He yawns again, snuggling the side of his face into his pillow, "It's not rough. It uh, can be nice." It's clear by his voice, that he's drifting into sleepiness.

Jack nods, making a mental note to keep an eye on his new roommate. He's not sure how the floating away thing works but he'd hate for the guy to fall and smack his head on something. Noting the sleepy tone, Jack offers an unseen smile. "I think its about time to turn in for the night," he yawns. "I got the lights," he offers. And provided he's not asked not to, Jack focuses and uses his telekinesis to flick the lights off. "Sleep well, man."

Sergio makes a sound of agreement. Once the lights flick off, he can be heard rustling his covers as he slides beneath them, "A hui hou." It isn't long before he's asleep.
