He's my brother. I could never forget him.

Location

<XS> Astrid and Kieow's Dorm

On Kieow's side of the room, there's a rather large planter just to the side of her bed, filled with flowers and other plants. Vines of ivy and morning glory climb from the dirt toward the window, twisting around the metal frame of the actual bed over time. Much like the heavy quilt blanket, made of brightly colored raw silk on her bed, the walls bloom with colors as well. Large pictures of Thai plants and family members are layered artistically across the surface, hiding all of the neutral color paint that she can. The images of lush green country side and tropical plants are posted pretty much as is, but her family photos are stylized like photos of celebrities that no one but Kieow cares about.

In one corner of the room, a table has been set up and surrounded by cut flowers and potted plants, banners written in Thai wrapped around their leaves. At the center of this little shrine is a flower adorned picture of Dawson Allred, in a picture of him by himself, smiling at the camera, and below, to one side, a picture of him with another Thai man. On the other side, there's another Thai man by himself who looks like he could be related. Kieow is tending to the display, sprinkling orange marigolds around the white sandalwood and carnations, humming quietly to herself.

Her door is left open, as most doors are, in the middle of the day when the dorm room is occupied.

Tomas had went to the local flower shop and picked up some gifts for his classmate from the flower shop in Salem Center. After last week what he did, and considering all that she had been thru it was the least he could do. He hoped to convey his apologies for hurting her via Blue Hyacinths and his condolences for her loss via the white Lillis. Along with the modest basket of flowers he also picked up a card, a simple white card with black text reading "sorry for your loss". Tomas approached the open door nervously, the basket of flowers with the card tucked in it in one hand. He stood in the threshold shuffling his feet, he looked around the room for a moment then knocked on the open door and looked down as he stood in the doorway.

Kieow fiddles with the flowers a little more when she hears the knock at the door. She's smiling when she looks over, but the mournful boy gives her pause. She blinks at him silently and assesses his offering. She draws in a deep breath and brushes her hands against her denim clad thighs. "Hey." She acknowledges, quietly.

Tomas waves in response, a small sheepish wave before setting the basket down. He pulls out his phone and types, the phone dictating: "I am sorry about the other day when I ran into you and hurt you then I just ran off like an ass." He looks her over for a moment before continuing "I am glad it looks like you are better, but I still wanted to express my regret for what I did, and also my condolences for your loss. I know you were in the flower dome..." he pauses and thinks for a second "the indoor garden, I am sure you were mourning" He pushes the basket towards her, then stands back up remaining still in the doorway.

"Conservatory." Kieow responds dully, crossing the few steps to accept the basket. "Thank you." She moves over to her dresser and places the basket on the dresser. She stands with her back to him as her fingers gently brush the petals on one of the lilies. "Yes. I was mourning... I am still mourning. I thought it was obvious." She turns back to him and crosses her arms over her chest. "So why did it take two weeks?"

Tomas stares at the ground trying to think of an answer, after a good minute of him saying nothing and just staring at the ground he types: "I am not sure why it took so long, right after I was confused, cus I had never seen someone get hurt like that and I've just been dwelling on it all. I do not have a good answer for why it took so long, sorry. I should have been paying attention in the first place."

"Well. Okay." Kieow nods to Tomas and sits down on her bed. "Thank you for your apology. I am okay. The roots grow back, as do all of the different things that grow off of me. It hurt, but it wasn't permanent."

"That's good" Tomas nods and his posture lowers, trying to think of something to say to ease tension. He glances over at the pictures of Dawson to the side before typing on his phone: "Mourning is hard, I understand, but it’s beautiful that you are remembering him. My Aunt always says that people stay with us thru our memories of them" he pulls out a gold ring around a necklace from under his shirt and fidgets with it.

"He's my brother. I could never forget him." Kieow's voice becomes as monotonous as Tomas's phone, gaze distant on the picture of Dawson and Hive. "But yeah." She turns and looks at him. "Thank you for coming by." She makes it sound like a farewell more than a grateful sentiment.

Tomas doesn't say anything in response, realising she probably wants to be alone, he just nods and leaves the room.
