<XS> Music Room - FL2

Wide and spacious, seating in this soundproofed room comes largely on the sweep of gentle risers that afford the teacher an easy view of all the budding performers, and add another dimension to the acoustics of the room. Instruments of all types are carefully stored around the room, and a grand piano, immaculately upkept, takes the position of prize near the back. In a nod to the eclectic studies of the students, digital mixing equipment and turntables rub shoulders with the classical instruments. Music stands sit in front of most of the seats, and the only windows look out out over the side of the school grounds.

It is growing late in the evening, dinner hour long since passed. There's music coming from the music room, only faintly audible -- to /most/ ears -- past its soundproofing, a cheerful-playful confection of a piece that Shane is still only just in the process of composing. He's composing it on a black-and-blue electric violin that's currently hooked into his new Stark laptop -- a rather /familiar/ piece, the current string of notes heard in a dream not long ago. He looks -- bland, for him. No slacks or pinstripes or bowtie, just jeans and a plain blue t-shirt.

Ghost was walking past the music room, until her ears picked up the piece. Opening the door, she takes a look inside, a bright grin towards Shane, as she speaks. "Oh, man. I've heard you play this before, it's great. How are you doing today?". She doesn't move, just humming and listening briefly, only intending to compliment him on his song and ask him a brief question before getting back to her day.

Ghost is dressed in a gray v-neck, a pair of bluejeans herself, and is barefoot /as usual/.

Shane doesn't immediately answer, finishing a few more measures before he drops his bow, lips pressed thinly together as he studies the notes on his screen. He turns his head over his shoulder, smiling warm towards Ghost. "Heya! -- Wait, what? You've heard -- huh?" Blink, blink-blink. "... But I only just started writing this?" He tips his head to one side, curious with just a hint of dawning suspicion: "Where exactly did you hear me play it?"

"What do you mean you just started writing it? I /know/ I've heard you playing it, otherwise..how did I dream you were playing it? There was this weird dream, man. We were in the music room, and I had this rocking guitar, and then we were talking about some celebrity nutcase, and Hailey was there..being..Hailey. Christ, girl has issues.". Ghost is looking..rather confused, a shrug of the head. "Maybe..I could say I confused it for another piece, but I /without a doubt/ heard this exact piece.". She's just standing there, a bit confused.

"I dreamed about it twice," Shane answers Ghost with a small press of teeth against lip, "and /so/ I started writing it. Because it was in my head after dreaming about it. -- Hailey was being an obnoxious brat with her shadow crap, right? And you were sitting just there," he points with his bow, "and strumming. And some nutjob on TV was talking about the apocalypse and we made a date to go see a concert of Ryan's."

"Two dates, one if the nutjob had a press conference.". Ghost points this out, before pausing. "Holy shit. That is..eerily exactly my dream. Let's see, I was an X-Man, Hailey was fucking around and thought apocalypses were fun, Ryan's voice makes you hard, and apparently a dude who is literally named Doctor Strange /saw the future/. Except. This dream was in..the future I assume I couldn't be an X-Man now. What the fuck is going on?". Ghost's eyes are wide, pacing around the room now. "Should we tell a teacher? And..do you think Hailey shared the dream oh shit she's as much a bitch in the future as she is now."

"Pa already knows, at least." Shane's voice sounds oddly flat, now. he leans back against the window with a small puzzled frown, looking down at his toes as he lowers his violin from his shoulder. "We're not the only ones this is happening to. And it's not even the first time this happened to me. I dreamed about this violin," he holds up the instrument in his hands, "/before/ I even owned it. And I didn't go out and buy it because of the dream or anything, Desi's brother /gave/ it to me since mine burned in the fire."

Ghost is panting, as she nods. "Okay..if we're dreaming the future..do you think that Doctor Strange nutjob was..actually not a nutjob? I'm going to look him up tonight, see what the fuck is going on. We might actually have..nuclear locusts or whatever /coming/ in three years.". She then stops, taking a deep breath. "That guitar I had in my dream? I don't even own it. I /did/ see one of the same pattern in a different color for sale online..they've only been out for a month, and I've never seen the ad before. Though, they're sill super sexy.". At this point..Ghost is just taking a seat on the floor, the whole thing a bit hard to take in.

"I don't know anything about this Doctor-Strange dude, he sounds like a tool. S'the first I'd ever -- heard of. Anyway maybe he's nothing." Shane shrugs a shoulder uncertainly. "There's fucking nutjobs on TV all the time. Who knows. You gonna get the guitar?" His brows raise towards Ghost, questioning. "Because all this shit keeps /coming true/ and it's creeping me the hell out. Especially because --" He trails off, here, biting down at his lip slowly.

"Maybe you're right. Not the first guy to talk about the apocalypse, atleast.". Ghost pauses, and then slowly nods at Shane. "I..kind of already checked how much money I got. Planned on buying it tonight. Probably /should/, don't want to cause a..butterfly effect or whatever. And it's a great guitar.". At Shane's trailing off, Ghost frowns. "Shane..what happened? Shit..does something happen in the future that..wasn't a ball of sunshine like our dream + that shit Hailey did?"

"Should get it," Shane says a little distantly, "if it's a nice guitar." But he's frowning down at the violin in his hands, his gills rippling rapidly at the sides of his neck. "It's freaky as hell is the thing. Because when I thought they were just dreams --" He hesitates, his brows pulling deeper together. "In some ways they were really -- /nice/. My business is doing good, B's gotten into a great college, my Pa's company's taking off, everyone seems to have their shit /together/ finally. Except -- also in the background it kept coming up that -- two of my best friends are dead. Pretty horribly. And I don't /want/ that future without Hive and Flicker."

Ghost stops..and begins silently crying a bit. "Hive. Flicker. Dead? Shit. Shitshitshit - wait you own a business.". This seems to trail Ghost's mind off a bit, before she shakes it off. "Well..maybe there's a reason behind these dreams. I doubt God would be letting us see these dreams if..we weren't supposed to be doing something about them. Maybe they're not /supposed to die/, and that's why we have these dreams. To stop them. Any fucking way possible. Or, there's the idea that this is all set in stone and we just ge ta first hand glimpse at it, but..fuck that."

Shane sets his violin down, at Ghost's tears, slipping down to sit on the floor beside her and creep-sneak one wiry arm around her shoulders. "We don't /know/ that it's really going to happen," he tries to be reassuring though his voice is a little hitchy-breathless himself, with the rapid flutter of his gills. "Because -- yeah. Like you said even if -- even /if/ it's -- /a/ future we don't have to let it be /our/ future we can. /Fix/ it now. We're just -- maybe -- still trying to figure out how. Or even why this is happening. Or /how/ this is happening. I don't think we need to just sit around and /wait/ to see the end of the story."

Ghost nods, removing her tears with one of her free hands. "You're right. Jax, and the X-Men, and..everyone, they'll figure this out. And they'll stop it. Even if we can't ourselves, I have faith.". Ghost is then scrambling to her feet, heading towards the door. "I..should go. We'll get through this. No one..is going to die. Atleast, not them.". There's a small, weak grin towards Shane as she parts. "And we're still on for that date in a year."

Shane squeezes briefly at Ghost's shoulders and then releases her, heading back to his violin as she heads for the door. "We have gotten through a /whole/ fucking lot, haven't we?" Her last comment puts a bright grin on /his/ face, warm and cheerful even if it takes a hesitant moment for it to fully appear. "I'll be there."
