Not Cool

Aka 'Touch Me' but Ross is bad at logging and screwed up and almost lost this log.

Kai and Ross learn a bit about each other.

Location

<XS> Art Room

Smells of paints and chalks and turpentine mingle freely in this room, well-used, well-stocked. Natural light flows in, plentiful through the large windows. The long counter-like tables are speckled with spots of color, and half finished projects often stand on easels or propped in corners. The many cupboards lining the walls are crammed full of art supplies.

It's late afternoon. Classes have already ended for the day, with most students in their dorms, or in the rec-rooms, or in the lake, if that's their thing. Meanwhile, the Art Room is virtually empty, save for Ross. The purple skinned teenaged girl, with brown hair, brown eyes, and blue highlights in the hair, is dressed in a PARAS IS GAY t-shirt, from a web-comic called Mokepon. She's wearing purple jeans with various patches of obscure bands sewed in, and pink converse with blue socks. Covering her pointed ears are dark red and black over-ear headphones, attached to an old 2000s era CD player. Ross is currently painting on an easel, using a variety of colors and too much paint. On a table across from her, as her muse, is a strange robot looking thing, with wheels and clawgrippers and a tiny beret on top of its small head. "Stay still, Pedro! Oh wait, you're a deathbot, you don't move. Just, stay still anyways!"

Kai is not an unusual sight in the Art Room, although he couldn't be considered a /groupie/ or anything. Still, the room is a good source of supplies, and that's what brings him today, apparently. Dressed in a pair of cargo shorts and a green tank top that reveals scarred shoulders, the Korean boy carries his sketchpad under his arm, and a couple of worn-down pencils in one hand. He enters the room in his traditional hop-step, bare feet slapping on the tile as he heads for the supply cabinet. It's only halfway there that he realizes that someone else is there, and speaking, and he turns to stare at the artist and her subject with a small furrow of his eyebrows and a slow, curious tilt of his head.

Ross doesn't hear Kai come in, listening to loud music. She paints some more, turning to Pedro again. "Okay, Pedro, pose!". Pedro, being an inanimate object, doesn't move. "PEDRO! DON'T YOU EVER LISTEN? Fuck it.". She gets up moving Pedro's clawgripper slightly, and turns around, to return to the easel, spotting Kai. "Um...hi?". She stops dead in her tracks as she mutters this. "Fuck, I thought it'd be empty here.".

Kai wrinkles his nose as Ross addresses the...robot? In a beret? Which doesn't alleviate any confusion on the part of the younger boy. He frowns, and nods when Ross speaks to him, blinking slowly. "If you were in here, it was already not empty," he points out. "But I did not mean to disturb your work." He gestures at the cabinet, and smiles a bit. "I am only here for some more pencils." He furrows his brow further, and considers something. "You were not purple, the last time I saw you." Which seems more a statement than any kind of question, and it's forgotten as his gaze lands on Pedro. "Your robot does not seem to listen very well."

Rasa happens upon art room, hearing voices inside. Ze pauses hir trek inward and looks around for a moment before stepping in. Ze is the color of concrete today, hir skin a lighter gray, with the hair that falls in hir face adopting a darker shade, the color of the concrete wet. Soft, white shoes step across the ground, the soft swishing of jeans brushes both against the tops of the shoes and the floor as ze pads in. A black tee shirt covers hir top, hir hair tied back at the nape of hir neck. Hir tail is low and twitches side to side, but ze doesn't say anything as ze moves into the room. In hir hands, ze has a bottle of brown liquid which ze sips from quietly. Ze doesn't head for the supplies, but heads to the teacher's desk, staring at it.

Ross hmphs when he points out that it's not empty. "Yeah, what do you know?. She turns back to her art, heading to turn her music back on when she realizes-no batteries. "Fuck, this was a new pack!". She looks towards him when he mentions she's not purple. "I didn't have pointy ears, either. Yes, I know. Pedro's a douche. I still need to give him some AI so he will /listen/ to me. I should ask Kisha about that.". She goes to turn back to painting, when she notices Rasa. "Hey, Rasa!".

Kai blinks at Ross' response, and lifts his shoulders. "I am sorry," he says. "I didn't mean to be rude." He nods deeply enough to border on a bow, and moves towards the cabinet without any further input, until Ross mentions Kisha. Then he pauses as he's pulling out a box of pencils to look back at the older girl. "Kisha is very smart," he says. "If anyone could figure it out, it would be her." He wrinkles his nose. "Sebastian, too, I guess." Then he's getting the needed pencils, and pushing the box back as Ross greets Rasa. Closing the cabinet, he turns to offer hir a small smile. "Hello, Rasa," he says, moving away from the cabinet and setting his sketchpad on one of the tables. "How are you?"

Rasa gives a little jump when Ross greets hir, as if it were unexpected. Ze pauses in hir step, wavering a little as hir weight is a little unbalanced. Ze doesn't say anything but returns the greeting with a wave of hir tail. Hello. Ze rests hir fingertips on the desk, pausing to frown at it, and looking up again when Kai speaks to hir. 'Could be better.' The letters appear start white on hir forehead, a second after the question is asked, like subtitles on a tv show. Seconds later, a large 'U' appears with a question mark on hir cheek.

Ross slowly begins painting again. "Did you guys hear about what happened the other day? The soldiers in the sewers and the deathbots? It was terrifying, Peter and the Sharktwins and that lizard guy would be dead if it wasn't for me.". By her body language, she's obviously exaggerating. She heads up, repositioning Pedro again. "Okay, Pedro...STAY STILL!". She gets back to painting. "I built him myself, you know.".

Kai frowns at Rasa's response, and tilts his head with a sympathetic pull of his eyebrows. "I am sorry to hear that," he says sincerely. "I hope that you will feel better soon." The appearance of the U and question mark get another furrow of his brow, and there's a moment before it registers, and he makes a soft 'ah' sound. "I also could be better," he says, with a small pull of his mouth for the coincidence. Then Ross is talking, and his attention goes back to her when she mentions deathbots and soldiers. The words 'soldiers', in fact, seems to drain a little of the color from his skin, and he leans forward to listen intently. There's a small frown when Peter's name is mentioned, but he remains silent until the end. "/You/ saved them? The twins /and/ Peter?" There is a definite air of disbelief about him, now, and he narrows one eye at Ross. "You broke your ankle running from the sand man."

Rasa simply nods to the question Ross asks. Ze exhales moodily and heads over to the cabinets of supplies and moves things around until ze finds a large sheet of paper, wiggling it gently as ze draws it out. Ze sets it down on a table and then goes back to peering at the cabinet. Ze glances over at Kai when he starts doubting Ross's story and smirks. Down hir right arm, the words 'bet they saved her ass instead' appear in a soft pinkish tone.

Ross smirks. "I totally saved them! I fired lasor beams and /everything/ and flew and- Oh fuck it, all I did was throw a pipe at one guy's helmet. BUT I STILL HELPED, OKAY?". A bit peeved now, she starts drawing furiously. "I hope that Jackson guy's okay. I heard they found him down there and he had to be brought back to the Medbay. I saw him in there yesterday when I was getting my meds.". She draws a tiny moustache on Pedro's face. "Perfect! I wish I had the power to make robots talk. That'd be cool. But, my power's super cool anyways. Even more cool than you guys, whatever you do.". She begins humming, as she eats a piece of string cheese in her pocket.

Kai still looks skeptical, and he glances away with a lift of his eyebrows, catching the trail of letters along Rasa's arm. Which elicits a sound that's /almost/ a giggle, but he smothers it in the face of Ross' self-defense. "I am sure you threw the pipe very bravely," he says encouragingly. At the news of Jax, his brow falls into a deep furrow, and he glances back at Rasa, as if ze can confirm this information. "Mister Jackson is hurt?" He glances down at the pencils in his hand with a bit of a guilty look, and he frowns. "That is too bad. I hope he will get better quickly." At the boasting of powers, Kai manages a small roll of his eyes, and lifts a shoulder. "I am sure it is very impressive,' he agrees, and smiles thinly. "Whatever you do."

'Unconscious,' Rasa's left arm verifies, the lettering in dark red. Ze draws another deep breath and selects a box of charcoals, slipping it out and putting it on top of hir paper. Then ze hunts around until ze finds the box of kneaded erasers and snags a misshapen lump. 'He's going to wake up,' ze notes on the left, the words white with a tinge of yellow. Ze glances at Ross and shrugs, looking to Kai, 'her power is impressive, but not cool,' written on hir forehead.

Not even knowing what Rasa is saying, Ross continues on. "My power's super cool. Even cooler than turning into a werewolf or a vampire or a zombie or a dragon or something. I could demonstrate...perhaps? If one of you'd let me touch you? Don't worry, I won't kill you or maim you or anything. It'll be fun!". She smiles, wanting to test her power out. Besides, if they give permission...whose fault is it really? "It's like, super cool and stuff. Wait, did I already say that?". She adds another stroke to the painting, putting a taco in Pedro's claw.

Kai nods at the information from Rasa, and smiles a bit at the older teenager. "That is good. I will make him a drawing, for when he wakes up." Because that will totally HEAL HIM. At Ross' assertion of her power's cool factor, the boy makes a snorting sort of sound, albeit soft. "Anything would be cooler than turning into a dragon," he murmurs, hands fidgeting with his pencils. "Why do you need to touch one of us?" he asks, glancing at Rasa with a questioning cant to his eyebrows. "You do not turn people into stone or anything, do you?"

Rasa turns on Ross and glares, eyes narrowing, hir color turning darker, inching toward black. Ze shakes hir head to Kai, but steps between him and Ross. Ze shakes hir head again, still unhappy.

Ross laughs at Kai. "No, I don't turn people to stone.". Suddenly, when Rasa steps in front of them, she looks puzzled. "What are you doing? I wasn't going to do unless he /let/ me. I don't need more detentions, after all". She goes back to painting, beginning to draw a sombrero onto Pedro's beret. "Besides, my power is harmless. Mostly.". She finishes the sombrero, and turns to grab more paint. "I don't think I have enough paint. Need more tubes.". There's several unused tubes behind her.

Kai blinks when Rasa steps in front of him, and he instinctively takes a step back, pulling his arms behind him. "I do not understand," he says, tilting his head at Rasa. "It would be dangerous for Ross to touch me?" This is clearly the best guess he can offer, and he looks back at Ross with a quirk of his brow. "What is it that you can do?"

'It's not Consent if he doesn't understand what you're going to do.' Rasa's words are very clear across hir face, hir expression still dark. Hir hands reach down to hir sides, rolling up hir shirt to exposed more words for Kai to read. 'She controls minds with her touch. She's not safe if she can't be trusted to explain first.' Jaw set, ze remains still, waiting to make sure both people have read the messages.

Ross shakes her head at Rasa. "I was going to tell him! Jesus fucking christ!". She rubs her skin. "Fuck this. Pedro, let's go.". Pedro, of course, does not move. "Great, now my own robot's turned on me.". She approaches the corner, sitting down. "Pedro, you're grounded. No supper. Or oil. Or whatever it is you drink.". Sadly, according to her tone and body language, she's not kidding. "Besides, it's not really 'control'. It's more like..persuasion, I guess? Besides, it's still harmless. Not like I'd turn you into a fucking dragon or a witch or a shark or anything. I'm not fucking magical.". She hmphs again.

"Oh." Kai blinks as he absorbs this information, and then his eyebrows lift. "/Oh./ Yes. It would not be a good thing at all." He nods, and keeps his hands tucked firmly behind his back, out of possible touching range. He frowns when Ross defends herself, and shakes his head. "You do not know me very well," he says. "And I do not know what you have heard, but I will tell you a thing." His mouth pulls into a tight line, and his expression turns somber. "You do /not/ want to turn me into a dragon. Ever. It would be very bad for you." He grimaces, his own body language indicating his own lack of kidding. "And everyone else."

All of the words start to disappear, leaving only one sentiment, bright red on hir arm. 'There are some brains you don't fuck with.' Understanding made, Rasa steps out from between the two and moves back to hir supplies, gathering them up. The paper is rolled up and loosely held while the charcoals are snatched up with hir other hand.

Ross's eyes just..rocket. "Oh my fucking god you're an /actual/ fucking dragon that is so awesome.". She's immediately turned around, staring at him. HE'S A FUCKING DRAGON FOR CHRIST'S SAKE. "Oh my god can you fly and breath fire and eat people oh my god why wouldn't you like this is so /fucking/ awesome you are a /fucking/ dragon I wish I was a /fucking/ dragon can I be a /fucking/ dragon." Her excitement is radiating like crazy. She just /met/ a dragon. Her facial expression is a mixture of wow and jealousy. "Are you green are you red what color dragon are you THIS IS SO COOL.". She's showing physical childness, with a large smile. She walks over to Pedro, and holds him, giving him a large hug, like a pet. "Okay, your power is /totally/ cooler than mine. Like serious-fucking-ly. For serious.".

Kai can only STARE. First at Rasa, with a bit of stunned awe at the unexpected show of emotion presumably on his behalf, then /helplessly/ at Ross as she explodes with...whatever that can be called. He blinks a few times, pulling in on himself for a moment. Perhaps it's Rasa's presence, though, that reverses that autonomic reflex, and he straightens. "It is /not/ cool," he says, his soft voice rising in incredulity. "It /sounds/ like it would be a cool thing, but it is /not/. Foom has killed many people, and he is a terrible presence." He shakes his head, his eyebrows lifting. "It is definitely /not/ a cool thing. It is the least cool thing I can think of. I would much rather talk to bugs, like Ivan."

Rasa shakes hir head at Ross and starts to head from the room. All the words on hir skin disappear, leaving hir a dark gray mass in dark clothing. Ze shoots Kai a grimace and a rolling of hir eyes before glancing sideways once more at Ross. Then hir focus is on the door and leaving. Hir tail waves goodbye.

Rocking Pedro back and forth slowly. "But but it's a fucking /dragon/. ALSO HIS NAME IS FOOM THAT IS SO AWESOME.". Not realizing what she is doing wrong, Ross happily waves to Rasa. "Oh my god we're going to be /great/ fucking friends. Not like, fucking each other, no, I DIDN'T MEAN THAT GAAAAH.". She tilts her head in shame. "God fucking damn it I screw /everything/ up. Let's go, Pedro. I need to find Kisha.". She turns over to Kai for a moment. "I'm Ross, by the way". Ross then happily skips out, waving to her friend who IS A FUCKING DRAGON. How cool is that?
