Bright and warm, this room is set up to enjoy a little bit of the outdoors even year-round. Tall glass panes make up most of its wall in between wood supports, providing a wide three-sided view of the garden and yard outside. As well as the inner doors leading back into the kitchens and dining room, an outer door leads out to the outdoor gardens, as well. Inside, the room is airy and green -- a plethora of potted herbs and plants hang from the ceiling, as well as ring the room in a series of narrow wooden raised-beds that provide growing space for a selection of herbs year-round. Outside of the herb beds that ring the room, this place is designed simply to come and relax; quiet and simple, with clean stone floors and neutral-toned wicker furniture adorned with comfortable cushioning. Some of the chairs ring stone-and-glass tables for eating or conversing; a few more solitary seats come in the form of rocking chairs or netted hammock-chairs hanging from the ceiling. It's been a few days since Rasa first surfaced after Christmas at Evolve and even longer since ze frequented the community. The ease in which this odd figure wanders onto the grounds and knows exactly where ze is going (and doesn't set off any of the psy alarms), indicates that ze is not actually a stranger. Ze slips into the Common House and zips into the kitchen to poke around for something to eat. Ze thumps hir bag on one of the counters and rifles through the cupboard where the snacks and nuts are kept, extracting a can of sriracha peas. Ze is clothed in baggy pants, a denim blend that is mean to be more sturdy than form fitting, and a long tee shirt under hir baggy, zip up hooded sweatshirt. Ze smells clean enough and familiar, after a fashion, but the face ze wears is gray and droopy, somewhat worn out, with stringy black hair curling up around the base of hir skull. Ze grabs a plate, a couple slices of bread, and hir bag and heads into the sunroom to sit. The sunroom is occupied already, if only just: one (1) vampire draped into a hammock seat, shirtless and barefoot but in soft warm fleecey pajama pants. Dusk's wings are wrapped half around him like a fuzzy blanket -- coloured today in pale, pale blue like glacial ice, with an uncanny sense of depth that shifts with their movement, their thin membranes appearing almost translucent from some angles. There's a holographic computer interface hovering just above him, on which he is currently typing up an email. A thermos and a mug of coffee are both near at hand. He glances up when the door open, dark eyes tracking Rasa's movement curiously. "... shit." Rasa freezes for a moment when ze hears the quiet utterance, hir gaze shifting quickly over in his direction. Ze exhales and breathes out, shoulders sinking low. Hir arms droop momentarily before ze intentionally hikes them back up on hir torso before ze drops hir snacks. Ze strides forward and takes up a spot on the wicker couch cushion, resting hir selection on the nearby end table. Ze gives Dusk a wince of a smile and draws in a deep breath. "Hey Dusk," Hir voice is tougher, intentionally gruffer than what were comfortable tones previously. "How's it going?" "You're out." There's more warmth in this than in Dusk's initial surprised exclamation. "I mean you're /home/. Damn. Do you need anything? Do you /want/ anything?" Dusk is batting his projected screen out of the way, leaning forward in his seat with an earnest widening of eyes. One of his wings unfurls, extricating itself from the netting of his chair to extend toward Rasa -- offering a hug, though waiting on hir response. Rasa untucks hir legs out from underneath hir when Dusk's tone is warm, welcoming. Ze sits awkwardly for a moment, feet fidgeting next to each other for a moment before ze stands up and crosses the room in a couple long strides, falling against Dusk's shoulder and chest, careful to pull hir hood up and hir sleeves down to keep from accidental skin contact. Ze just crawls into his lap after a breath and hugs him back. "Back... Home." Hir hidden skin flushes red and hir body shrinks up a little bit to make the position more comfortable. "Dunno yet." Dusk shifts easily in his chair to make room for Rasa, his wing folding carefully in to pull hir into a snug warm hold. "Yeah." Softer. "Back home. Missed you." There's a moment of quiet after this. A little wryly: "How about a drink?" "I guess, if you want. Have no fucking clue how I taste right now." Initially, Rasa speaks with ease, a tiny shrug, and relaxed posture. Then, there's a pause and ze turns redder under hir hood. "Oh. You meant alcohol." Ze exhales and chuckles a little, hand lifting to circle hir chest in apology. "Yeah, might be okay. What do we have? Nothing sweet..." "I meant for /you/," Dusk agrees with a faint flush, a faint laugh, at Rasa's first response. "Last time I got out I wanted one of Jax's cupcakes and a fuckton of booze." His head tips back against the netting. "Tequila, beer, vodka, mostly. Or raiding Steve's bar it's better stocked. We been slacking lately." "I... wanted Vanya and my family. Got Vanya. Now I'm here for my family. Think I just want to sleep without worrying that something bad is going to happen when I wake... or while I sleep." Ze inhales deeply and sits up a little more. "It... was better than that church's basement, but not by much. I... had to be there. I made myself be there. It was all work. I... Got cigars. Wish I had a cupcake. Wanna get some gin?" "Safe here. Well." Dusk's lips press into a very brief frown. "As safe as anywhere." His wing squeezes briefly against Rasa's shoulders before relaxing to let hir sit up. There's a tension in his /own/ shoulders at the mention of the church basement, though it is fleeting. "Shitty fucking bigoted law made you be there. I think some gin is definitely in order. And a nice comfy bed for you after if you want it. Though I can't /promise/ you won't wake up with a heavy-ass sack of Cat loafing on your chest. Does that count as danger?" "That's all I can ask for in the end. A place where not everyone in my immediate vicinity is out to get me." Rasa glances over hir shoulder at hir bag and pathetic attempts at food before glancing back at Dusk, hints of color starting to leak blue into hir irises. "Yeah? I think that's a threat I can handle. After all, might be the best way in this world to go -- if it came to that -- Suffocated in my sleep by a fuzzy lump. Just... will the cat purr? There should be purring." "Unless you're talking board games, /probably/ nobody in our place'll murder you." Dusk has more cheer in his voice. He picks up his thermos as he stands, snagging the coffee as an afterthought. "And he purrs like a gorram motor. There are worse ways to go, for sure." Rasa gathers hir stuff as well and stuffs one of the pieces of bread in hir mouth. Ze chews quickly and with a small wince while stuffing the can of sriracha peas into hir bag and prepares to follow him. When hir hands are free, ze snags what's left of the slice and holds it. "Good. Let's got drink gin, smoke cigars, and get smothered to bits with hair balls and love." |
