2013-09-07 Gabriel and Samuel meet at a local coffee-shop, and hit it off pretty well. |
Location
<NYC> Busboys and Poets - East Harlem | |
It's just gone noon, the store is quite busy as people visit for their lunch, or just in passing. For his part Samuel seems in no rush, though he is talking on his phone, his expression amused. "No, I'm taking some time away from the office, I'm between major projects at the moment and I might just relax before moving onto the next big one. I don't want to burn out." He nods slowly. "I'll look over any code that needs my attention sure, but I doubt the team can't handle it." With that he hangs up, stepping forward in the line as he looks at his coffee options. With how busy the store always is, it's no secret that they're in need of some new employment, which is why Gabriel is here today, to get the applicant sheets. Dressed in his gray jacket, a blue undershirt, a pair of blue jeans, and tennis shoes, the young Latino jumps into line directly behind Samuel. After a few moments of silence, he speaks. "Nice weather today, isn't it? I expected it to be pretty hot, but, it's not too bad.". Samuel turns to Gabriel with a slow nod. "It is nice weather. Though I'm an Englishman, so I might not know what that looks like." He offers a grin as he looks to Gabriel. "Samuel Griffith." He offers a hand to the other man. With a small chuckle, Gabriel accepts the handshake, with a firm grip. "Gabriel Araujo. Nice to meet you.". He then releases the grip, as the line continues to move ahead. "Name seems familliar..have I met you before? Wait, no, we just got introduced, nevermind.". Nodding Samuel smiles. "I'm afraid I don't recall. Though I'd been letting myself be absorbed by my work too much lately. Now days I'm trying to pay more attention to the real world." He shrugs a shoulder. "You're well I hope?" He steps towards the front of the line as it advances. Gabriel also nods. "The real world is nice, but it's slightly difficult, too. I'm learning the harshness of it myself, as I am actually here looking for a job.". He shrugs, as he notices he is second in line. "Mmhm, I am fine. Howabout you, Mr. Griffith?". Shrugging Samuel grins to Gabriel. "Please, call me Samuel. And I'm well enough." He turns as he makes to order his coffee, a simple black coffee and a couple of sugars make up his order, then he's stepping to the side. "I've actually got business running well enough I feel comfortable taking some time away." With that he grins to Gabriel. "What's your profession?" "Alright then, Samuel.". Gabriel smiles, as he grabs an applicant sheet. He also orders a tall mocha, to go. "Anything I can get my hands on, really. I like to think I'm pretty smart, but I think that's just the ego.". He chuckles a small bit. "Nice to meet you, Samuel."." Nodding Samuel grins a little. "Well, I might be able to set you up with some interviews for different departments of my company. We're always looking to expand these days it seems." He shrugs a shoulder. "I can't promise anything and I'd need to find out what your qualifications and skillsets are, but that shouldn't be too much of a problem." Gabriel's smile widens. "Really? That'd be great, thank you very much.". He reaches into his wallet, pulling out a home-made business card, containing name and number. "I uh, make these to give out to potential employers. Here.". Still smiling, he hands Samuel the card. "Now, I have somethings to do, but it was nice meeting you, M- Samuel.". Nodding, he takes his coffee, heading out the door. |
