Selene gets a snack, and Corey gets unblocked

Location

<NYC> Clinton

Despite its rough and tumble reputation of old, Clinton has come far from the illegal gambling and shakedowns of Prohibition, and the gang warfare of West Side Story. Clinton has now become the industrial supply center for midtown Manhattan, with hospitals and the light industrial and commercial businesses required to support so many thousands of people. The neighborhood has become quite expensive, but many actors still cram together in small apartments due to its proximity to Broadway.

The end of Corey's shift had been up for some time, and after making a stop to pick up some more books from a book store he was on his way home. It is a fairly cloudy and dreary evening, and he is dressed for it at least. He has on a comfortable jacket in some cotton nylon blend to keep him warm and dry, and it was zipped up to keep out the wind. His jeans are slightly worn, and draped over a pair of boots but he does wear them well at least. He seems to be fairly at peace, and comfortable with his walk, not out of breath despite the distance its been from work. Mind you his mind is proving the more active of the two as he tries to work through the studies in his head as he tries to remember the differences between trauma conditions.

Selene's been careful during her trail. Walk quietly. Avoid getting too close. Avoid being seen. Though, Casper's always the better one at that, being rather closer.

The two have been trailing Corey from his shift waiting for the time to strike. Selene notices the surroundings, the shortcut being quiet and there's most likely no one to see them, as she messages Casper. << Here. Cover me. >>. Casper just thinks back. << You killing him >>.

<< No. I said I'd try, didn't I? Can't break that promise a day later. Going to try and take half and see if I can jam his memory somehow. >>.

Selene's then moving forward, making herself known via footsteps. Casper's still hidden, rather well, nearby.

Barely noticing the footsteps at first, Corey seems to blink as he realizes someone else was taking the path behind him. Taking a glance back, his mind seems to take in the woman as he tries to place her, and there is the mental flash of recognition from the time at Montague's with Emma. "Oh, hey it's been abit." He offers her a smile, pausing in his walk as he shifts his bag of books to hold more comfortably. His mind searches for the name, trying to remember if she was Selene or Emma, before settling on the first, "Selene right? Galileo or something? Sorry, I can be such a ditz when it comes to last names." She doesn't share the smile. Instead, Selene's getting straight to business, a mental jolt in Corey's mind. He'll remember the voice. The same one that asked to eat his life force. << I'm sorry. I truly am. >>. Selene's face shows a bit of guilt as she says this.

Selene's dashing forward, left hand jotting out, as she attempts to grasp Corey, trying to clamp her hand over his mouth and circle behind him. << I'm so sorry. >>.

Corey blinks as she doesn't speak, then has a concerned look on his face as the mental words come to him.<< Wha?>> Its the physical actions that surprise him more though, after all he's never had a small woman try and attack him outside the self defense classes, by the time he thinks to react with the confusion he's already held by Selene, but he seems more confused than anything. Muffled behind her hand "Um... would you mind telling me what the hell is going on? I don't want to hurt you or anything, but you really need to have a good reason for this really fast." This close to him...it's fairly obvious just how muscled he is, and it probably wouldn't be hard for him to do some damage.

<< I'm sorry. You won't remember any of this, if I do it well. >>. Selene's still feeling guilty, not afraid of Corey's threats. Casper's coming out, pocket bulging. Definitely a gun in there, though he's instead holding a rock, tossing it up in his hand.

And then Selene's eyes flash red. << This will hurt. And it may kill you. Apologies in advance if that happens. >>.

And then she's beginning the life absorption process.

It looks like Corey's about to try something when the second person shows, the gun seeming more the deterrent than the woman's mental threats. There is a gulp of his throat at the mental threat, and then he just looks around awkwardly as he doesn't seem to notice anything happening. His muffled speach comes from behind her hand "Um, what are you doing?" He doesn't seem in pain, he doesn't seem even to notice she's doing anything, though Selene feels differently, as if she found a delicious all you can eat buffet.

WOOOOOSH. Selene's grinning, the energy rush most likely her strongest ever, as she's stepping back, letting go. "That..how are you not..dead? Or on the ground? Or..?". At this point, Casper's running forward, about to draw his gun. << Stop. >>. Selene's mental order causes him to pause.

"That was quite fascinating. You're not a negator..as I still got fed. But you're not injured either. Hahaha. I've finally found it.". Casper is, however, still putting his hand in his pocket, whilst Selene begins to pace.

Still seeming confused about the whole thing, Corey still doesn't look to Selene, keeping his eyes focused on the man with the gun. "Should I be either of those things? I mean all you did was touch me, its not like you knifed me." His mind however is going through his self defense classes, trying to recall what to do if you're facing someone with a gun. It seems like most of the moves involve hitting the other guy before they can aim at him, and his thoughts are starting to edge in that manner. "I'm a healer, kinda. I don't want any trouble."

"You're a healer. And I steal life force. Yet, you weren't hurt. And, I assure you, if you strike at Casper, he /will/ kill you. French Armed Forces. He knows more than just a few self defense classes can teach.". At these words, Casper's staring, kind of a death stare of sorts.

"You're going to help me. And here is why. If it had been anyone else, they could be dead. But you're special. A healer. You can prevent deaths, including my own. You're an EMT. Isn't that what you do? Save lives?".

Frowning at the pronouncement of the guy's skills, there is still uncertainty within Corey as he seems to be mentally size comparisoning, then abandon's the thought. "You're going to need to explain things a whole lot more. I think I'm still lost on the part where I'm supposed to be dead here." Something does seem to be going weird with the man though to Selene's life detection senses. Its slow, barely noticeable at first, but where he had seemed full of life before, its starting to grow, like a hose was just unkinked.

Selene nods, as she continues. "I am 100 years old. I have gained this lifespan via a sort of..vampirism. I've taken the health of others, and converted it into lifespan for myself, a person equalling two weeks of youth. Many people have died, which I regret. But your ability? You seem to be immune to the pain and death, yet still yielding me my life. My stores are full.".

"As such, I have an offer. I'll tell you straight up, what you'll get out of this is the lack of death of others in exchange for your help. If you want to be paid, perhaps we can work something out. All I request is that we meet once a week, we shake hands for a few minutes, and we part. And of course, promise of secrecy.".

As his life force is growing, Selene's sensing it. "Now that..that..that is fascinating. Fascinating indeed.".

Frowning again at the pronouncement of so many deaths at the womans hands, Corey shakes his head. "If it's within my power to do so, I will save whatever lives I can. Only a complete asshole would put themselves before others in that way." As he's talking though, the energy just sort of erupts, the world around him full to the brim of life. He seems surprised as the air begins to glow softly around him, bathed in the excess energy. "What the.." he says as he raises his palms up looking at his own hands as he realizes the light is coming from him.

As the life geyser erupts, Selene's eyes are turning red again, though this time Corey can probably tell since she's not holding him anymore. "That..that's a rush. The life force is...I wish I had fed on you that one day. My problems would have been solved.". Casper, meanwhile, is stepping back at the sight of the light, though Selene's apparent joy slightly eases his worries.

<< Very good. Now, if you call the police, I can't promise people won't get hurt. If you tell someone who'll call the police? The same. I'd rather you not tell anyone at all about this, if possible. I will need contact information to arrange our meet-ups. And if you call the police, I'll know. You're not just helping me live, but people I could feed on as well. I commend you for this. >>

The glow just seems to keep going, as Corey's frown remains. "It's still messed up that you've killed all those people. You coulda found another way if you were saying I wouldn't have even remembered." There is a look on his face as the thoughts came about the police that those thoughts might have been going through his mind. "You really do need to work on your people skills though." He grumbles slightly as he pulls out the receipt from the books he had gotten and scribbles his number on it with a sharpie. "There. Just... just don't hurt anyone else." "I was going to test. You were my test subject..I don't actually know if I could pull it off. I don't like killing. It's instinctual, predator-prey. Do you think anyone would legitimately want this ability? I have to live with it, I can't control it.". Selene takes the note as she tries to explain herself. "You're absolutely right about that however. And, I don't plan on it. Thank you.". Selene's then leaving, but as Casper follows after her, he's pausing until Corey himself leaves.

"I guess we'll see if that's true, now that you don't have to hurt anyone." Corey frowns watching her go, then as Casper pauses, he raises a brow. "I'm not going anywhere until this glowing stops" he says somewhat petulantly, though as he says it, the glowing does seem to start to fade away.

Casper raises an eyebrow, but something makes him turn around and follow after Selene.
