"Hey, don't have to apologize. I told ya I am here for ya." (Part of Flu TP.)

Location

<XS> Cody, Jack and Sergio's Dorm - FL2

The influx of new students this year has led to a bit of overcrowding at Xavier's, and it is starting to show in the dorm arrangements, many rooms like this one refitted for three students where they had once been built for only two. The standard two closets have been joined by a large armoire against one wall; three dressers have been moved in, three desks. A bunk bed on the left side, a lofted twin with its desk underneath it on the right.

It's early afternoon when Jack quietly opens the door to the room he shares with Sergio and Cody, the invisible teen dressed in jeans and a school t-shirt. His backpack hanging off one shoulder, his last class of the day was canceled so he's come back to his room to drop off books. He's also hoping to check on his roommate, Jack having been more worried about Sergio for the past few days than he was when he initially got sick.

As if someone has hit pause, Sergio is still where he leans just over his desk. One hand graces the armrest of his wheelchair and the other, his temple. There is nothing on the desk to occupy his attention so, and yet something seems to. After a delay, the hand at his temple moves as if to sweep some of the boy's strong, black hair back behind his ear. He doesn't notice Jack has entered.

Spotting Sergio, Jack frowns slightly. He watches him quietly for a few moments before taking his phone out and sending a quick text to announce himself: 'Hey, Serg'. Even as he types, Jack steps further into the room and tosses his backpack onto his bed. Another text gets sent a moment after: 'How are you feeling?'

As his phone chimes, Sergio pulls out of whatever fog he’d been in. ‘Hey,’ he texts back as a smile blooms across his face from mouth to eyes. He actually still doesn’t even notice that Jack is in the room until the other boy throws his book bag down. Turning on his heel, Sergio raises his eyebrows in slow-witted delight. ‘Yeah, what’s up?’ He presses together his lips and shrugs nonchalantly.

Jack sits down on the lower bed, watching his roommate until the phone chimes. 'Class got canceled. And no football either. I'm free for the rest of the day.' he texts back. 'What are you up to?'

Sergio bows his head over his phone to respond, but the text that follows is just an unintelligible mess. His fat thumbs try again but the second text is just as bad. It at least should be clear he’s trying to say, ‘Same!’ ...and something else that keeps getting disjointed and cut off. The teen reddens as he gets flustered, “So-” He stops himself before he curses out loud -- because that’s still speaking English.

Jack's grip on his phone tightens and his shoulders tense at the garbled message. 'Want to switch to writing?' he offers in his next text. 'What were you doing a minute ago?' he asks, going to his desk to get a pad and paper in case Sergio does want to switch.

Despite the problem quite clearly being user-error, Sergio remains fixated on his frustrations with his phone. ‘Stupid fucking phone,’ he jabs into the screen with his finger. It’s likely the first time he’s texted a curse word of that magnitude to his friend. ‘Huh? I legit got here a second before you did.’ He regards Jack with a quizzical, unworried look before being hit with one of the slow waves of lightheadedness that can be attributed to his abilities. Fingers loosening their grip, his phone slips out of his hand and falls to the floor.

Jack pauses at the curse, staring at the phone in disbelief. 'Man, I let one curse out and now everyone is doing it' he tries to joke. 'Serg...when I got here, you were totally zoned out. Just standing there like...a statue,' he texts, worried for them both. He starts to type something else but sees his roommate drop his phone. Telekinesis cushions the impact and Jack moves to provide support. There's no words but the concern is clear in his body language...or clothing language.

Sergio brings his hands up, making a bunching gesture with his fingers in an attempt to grab hold of Jack’s shirt. This is to stop the other teen, and the room, from spinning. Lashes fluttering, he does his best to maintain the facade of normalcy as he looks up at Jack like he normally might. That soon falls by the wayside as it becomes more and more difficult for his wandering mind to remain in his body. He averts his gaze, pressing his forehead forward towards Jack’s shoulder.

Jack floats Sergio's phone up onto his desk and focuses on holding the other guy up. He makes a little worried noise when Sergio leans more heavily on him. It's followed by one of frustration as he stops himself from saying anything. He lets Sergio rest against him, using his TK to pull his wheelchair closer so Serg can sit if he wants.

“Sss-” Sergio begins a quiet apology, but only barely begins to make a sound before he stop himself from speaking. Steadying himself on Jack, he takes a few deep, methodical breathes in and out against his friend’s chest before reaching backward for the wheelchair that, by now, he knows will be waiting just behind him. He peels himself away and eases himself into his seat. Red-faced, Sergio keeps his eyes lowered. The mental fog has replaced itself with evident shame, and frustration.

Jack takes a breath before carefully typing a message into his phone. He hits send and floats Sergio's phone back to his lap once it chimes. 'Hey, don't have to apologize. I told ya I am here for ya. Want to hit the infirmary or go see if there's any soup ready?'

Shoulders slumped, Sergio has to read the phone twice before he’s able to process the message. In response, he offers a pitiful, wobbly succession of nods. ‘Soup, plz. :(‘

Shirt collar bobbing, Jack types another message before telekinetically opening the door and moving to wheel his roommate out. 'Sure. Then we can hang for awhile. I'll tell you about how I got my butt kicked by a railing the other day'.

A small smile presses forward as Sergio reads the text. He chuckles a little as he’s pushed out of the room, ‘I’ve got to hear this one.’ At least, it isn’t hard to get him back in good spirits.
