Late night snacks.

Location

<XS> Kitchen

The kitchen staff at Xavier's tends well to the needs of its residents. Always cognizant of its students and faculty's dietary needs alike, the menu has a wide variety of choices, and the longtime cook works wonders in the kitchen. The pantry, too, is kept well stocked for those who want to come prepare themselves their own snacks. The shelf, fridge, and freezer space is ample, though if anyone wants to keep their own food there, they'd better make sure it's labeled clearly, and even that is no guarantee it'll last.

It's late in the evening, quite a bit after dinner and possibly a few people asleep by now. After a long flight back from Tennessee, Sage arrived back at the school earlier in the evening, the vomitting finally having stopped.

Right now, Sage is in the kitchen, making a cup of tea. Her blue eyes are prominent, ATHENA not on, instead the pair of glasses are lying on the counter. She's dressed in an XS hoodie, a pair of jeans, and is wearing socks right now, as she just sighs, her eyes glancing around the room slowly.

Sure, it's late. And sure, dinner has long been over with. Yet for some students, like Quill, this time of the night calls for heavy snacking. The prickly newcomer walks into the kitchen wearing a pair of academy sweatpants and resting a hand against a grumbling stomach.

"Okay, kitchen. Tell me you've got some pizza bagels. Coooome oooon pizza bagels," Quill says upon entering. He stops short of his search when he sees he's not alone. "Oh! Hi!"

Sage takes a moment to react, turning to Quill slowly. Normally, she'd immediately recognize him, but it takes her a brief few seconds to obtain his name. "Oh hello, Mr. Jordan.". Sage turns back to her teapot since she apparently doesn't trust her focus right now, as she turns towards him to speak. "How are you?"

"I'm so hungry!" Quill nearly shouts as he walks further into the room, making for the freezer. "And really, really good all around." He beams at Sage and her teapot as he passes by. "How are you? I didn't think anyone else would be up this late." He opens the heavy freezer door, letting a fwoosh of cold air into the room before starting to root around for the prized pizza bagels.

"I just got back from Tennessee, and I am a bit too wired to sleep.". Sage moves towards the cabinet to get a cup for her tea, as it is done, before turning to Quill. "Would you like a cup of chai?". Her eyes steady on Quill for a minute to get his reaction, before grabbing as many cups as people drinking, pouring that many.

Quill doesn't seem to find what he's looking for, so he shuts the door with a "Hmph!" and turns to face his teacher. "Chai? What's that?" A suspicious look crosses his face as he moves a bit closer to Sage, hands finding a place in the pockets of his sweatpants. "Yeah, sure, I'll try some. What was in Tennessee? Do you know people there? I think I'd like to go sometime. You know, see The South." He seems unusually active for this time of night, talkative and expressive when he really should be sleeping.

"It's tea.". Sage hands him the cup, before a simple calm response. "X-Men business.". She's grabbing some additives, some of which she puts in her own tea before offering to Quill, as she speaks again. "It was kind of nice. I apologize if I seem out of it, I am..adjusting."

Quill takes the cup and holds it in both of his hands. At the mention of the X-Men, his eyes go wide and he perks up even more. "Really? Official business, huh? What did you guys do down there? Was it exciting?" He makes an obvious show of searching Sage's features for any betrayal of emotion, smiling all the while. "No problem! I bet you need to coming back to the school after...doing whatever it is you guys do. Which was...?"

Taking a long sip of her tea, Sage replies. "Prometheus raid. It was a success and there is a possibility of a few new students, but...". Sage ends up not finishing her sentence, but whatever it was seems to bug her. "I believe you are in one of my classes, correct?". That is probably a sign to anyone who knows her well enough.

"Wow! A raid? That sounds so cool!" The excitement has led Quill to mostly forget about the tea in his hands, though the warmth of the mug it's in is still felt, and enjoyed. At the change of the subject, Quill nods, looking a little disappointed. "Yeah, I am. Fundamentals of Computers," he says. "I figured you would remember me, you know with all these," he flexes some of the quills on his arm. "But I guess around here they're not so unique."

"I would remember you. But..". Sage sighs again, another sip of her tea. "My powers are currently gone. I no longer possess an eidetic memory or a hyperfast brain. It is not because of you, but it is because of me.". Sage takes a deep breath. "Everyone is unique. Do not worry."

Quill doesn't seem to know what to say, and suddenly he remembers his tea, which he sips on slowly, more of a way to stall for time than to actually taste something new. When he does, respond, it's with a tender tone. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to sound like I was blaming you. What happened? Does it have something to do with Tennessee?"

"It did.". Sage just looks..kind of anxious, taking her tea. "I should go to bed. Goodnight, Mr. Jordan.". And then, she absconds out of the kitchen.
