Wherever home might be. (Part of Them! TP)

Location

<XS>

A boy, dressed in black and blue, standing just outside the school grounds. "Home," he'd said, at the gates, when they'd asked where was was going "They are coming to see me." A nod had sufficed for any following questions.

... What day was it again?

Right, the day of the dance.

There had been people. There had been one person in particular. Looking perfect. Dancing. Then that same person dancing with other people. Distractions all around. Feelings and thoughts... rather ignored. Displaced.

... What day?

Right. The dance.

There had been people all dressed up and people he hadn't seen before. There had been a green boy, and excitement about this from others. And music. Then not even that.

There had been short breaks to get away from people. His clip-on tie removed, left unceremoniously in the school's driveway.

... Day?

Dance.

Someone else had been missing, of sorts. He'd been in a treehouse. Had been having problems, with... other people. They had not been of importance. Things which had been hard to pinpoint, at some point, were so clear now. Swallowing up that which did not matter without effort.

... What time is it?

Time to go.

What had once been distractions were now a comfort. Belonging. A good thing. A happy thing. Even speaking aloud became obsolete, toward the end. It wasn't a thing he was overly fond of doing anyway. English. Russian. No longer needed.

... What time?

Time to go home.

The boy, dressed in black and blue, disappears.
