Donovan Stone
Introduction

xxxxxSmooth, collected, but fierce in doing what he feels is right. Donovan is willing to fight for what he believes in. Either with words, or other means. His name is known as the author of the Apple Life Column that is printed every Monday (Both on paper and digitally)though his face is not one that somebody would recognize.

History

xxxxxDonovan grew up in a very strong Republican Family. IE "God Bless the USA" Republican. He had what cna be called a very normal childhood, and wandered through that train wreck we all call teenager like most kids. That is to say, awkward flirtations and explorations of what it means to be an adult, and doing prodigious amounts of school work to keep him from having to do them all again because he failed. Needless to say when he graduated and he had nowhere to go but college his parents, who had NOT saved money for college calmly handed him a US Army Pamphlet. Thus began the journey of Uncle's Sam's newest recruit, Donovan Stone. He had not developed powers as of yet, and so entered as an Infantry-Man knowing full well that in this time of peace of there would be nothing for him to do but train. Which was fine by him. He had discovered a lvoe for Martial Arts, and the Infantry gave him a chance to practice it with a purpose while looking competent and earning money toward College! Just like the Brochure and Recruiter had said! He moved easily through the 3rd Infantry, 2nd Platoon's ranks, and was soon a Sergeant, and then it became 2001, and there was an attack. Donovan found himself at war in the Infantry. There are times when plans of Laziness kind fo fall short. Regardless Donovan did everything that was expected. He fought, and was present at both the initial push into Afghanistan and then the initial Invasion of Iraq, which kept him 8 months past his enlistment time. It was however during the battle of the Bagdhad Airport that Donovan was shot by an RPK spewing 7.62mm death. The rounds impacted him and he fired back from his M4 Carbine. Then he realized he fired back and looked down. His armored had been impacted. His uniform shredded as well as his tactical vest, but he was hale and whole. The bullets so much collapsed mess. Confused he kept fighting, and was shot six more times. With the same effect. He managed to keep it all hidden, but was quite a bit confused. On a sweep and clear of a house, he entered first and pointed a finger and for the first time Arc Flashed. The man inside charged and Donovan kicked, sending the man through two walls. At this point he KNEW something was up, and his unit was all whispers. So during his off time he tried things. Usually against rocks, and as much as possible alone. When he got home he blamed PTSD and went alone for awhile. Trying to figure out what was happening. He still had his time in the Reserve to perform, and he did it, but he was careful. Dismissing the rumors, and doing everything he could NOT to be in a hand to hand situation. Instead he lived off his savings and enrollemnt bonus, and enrolled in college, all online. While he explored jsut what he was and who he had become. For quite awhile he was alone. And put more than one accidental hole in the wall. Which he paid for. As he got more and more comfortable with performing these acts and understanding more about himself he re-entered as much of civilized world as he could. He soon tried his hand at costumed vigilantiesm. Why not? There was a kid in New York dressed as a Spider right? So in the bay Area, the Hammer as the papers called him ran amuck and stopped people from hurting others. He even got into one or two super powered battles. One he lost and was driven back and the other he won. He had gone to school for journalism, and was eventually offered a job in New York. Which brings us to the current day. He moved, took the job at the paper, and has not once taken up vigilantism again. He practices at martial arts school working toward a Black Belt, and enjoys the hobby. He has watched the growing concern over mutants and has written one or two articles on for pro mutant liberties. (No registration, no discrimination etc) But lives his life hiding who he is, a mutant, as best he can. On that note, he carriers a bandanna in his pocket at all times in case he has to hide his face and fight to protect himself, or those he cares about.

Powers

{{Tab}Kineticism and Electrical absorption/distribution Under normal circumstances, Donovan absorbs both kinetic and electrical energies as me pretty much just moves. His feet striking the ground as he walks creates a kinetic build up, while the every day technology slowly leeches energy into him. This creates a bit of a feedback loop with his car of course as he slowly drains the battery, and can then jump the thing, and his cell phone is almost always dead. This also means that being punched, shot (with bullets or Electricity), as well as being buffeted by strong winds and the impact of most things is absorbed. What this doesn't mean is that the weight of the object can still affect him. So while he won't be hurt by being HIT by a car, he's going to have Newton to contend with as far as objects in motion, and him being considerably smaller than your average Volkswagen. The good news is, Donovan CAN redirect this, in harmless as well as harmful ways. That is to say he can slowly bleed the energy off, keeping his cell phone charged (with a thought) and releasing his kinetic energy by swinging his arms or stepping a touch harder. He can also focus these energies. The Kinetic dispersal allows him to move faster, hit harder, jump higher, and with enough kinetic energy stored fly a short distance. (Maximum flight time is about ten minutes) Though there is the problem of needing to breathe and cold at altitude so he just uses it to get to a better position. The Electrical absorption can be released by simply redirecting the energy from his finger tips in an electrical blast sometimes confused with lightning. In reality this is more like an Arc Flash like what an Electrical Engineer on the wrong side of a poorly installed Fuse box might experience. The blast arcing out, in more or less the direction he wants it in a burst of blinding white light and a crack of thunder as the air is superheated. He still has not figured out why the hot air doesn't burn himself or why the flight doesn't generate Kinetic Energy. The downside to all of this, is that completely draining either his Electrical charge or his built up Kinetic Energy leaves him completely exhausted, and if both are used up, he will collapse. When he is throwing around Arc Flashes, his eyes crackle with Electrical energy, and turn a neon blue. He also HAS to release this energy. He also has no control over absorbing the energy. He cannot for example NOT absorb the energy and just hold onto it. Once it reaches a certain point it MUST be expelled, and usually not voluntarily. For instance if an electrical powerline were to fall on him his body would absorb the energy, but since he can't store that much power, his body would redirect it just about everywhere. This has the unfortunate problem of A) Knocking him out from suddenly running out of juice, AND a lot of property damage/casualties. The kinetics have the same problem, but suddenly he finds each step is a leap, or hole knocked in walls from simple opening a door. Another big problem is that he cannot control how much of the energy he puts behind each use for a kick, a leap, or an electrical discharge. He's trying very hard to do so, but so far the best he's able to do is the slow bleed off so he can live a semi normal life. (There have been ALOT of broken Key Boards, pens, pencils, coffee cups, and doors when he gets distracted) This can make for an awkward moment. "Can I borrow your pen?" Asks the pretty woman, "Uh sure says Donovan as the pen is snapped in half. That scenario is more common than Donovan would like to admit.
