<XAV> Treehouse - Xs Grounds

Built by enterprising students of yesteryear, this treehouse has weathered generations of Xaviers' students coming up here to study -- or escape from studying. A cozy retreat, its wood planks are sturdy and well-sanded, fit snug together to keep out draft. Snacks occasionally find their way up here, and the roof keeps the rain off well enough to pass a night -- so long as the teachers don't catch any students at it. For anyone agile enough to make the jump, a lucky leap juuust might carry them from here to the school rooftop, so long as they're careful of the drop...

It's dinnertime -- somewhere, anyway, and probably over in the dining hall it's lively and boisterous. Out here it's quiet -- likely some people have been dissuaded from spending too much time out of doors by the inhospitable weather, chilly this evening and intermittently drizzling. It's snug enough in the treehouse, dry and sheltered from the wind. Gaétan has taken his dinner up here -- a fragrantly spiced plate of curried chickpeas and potatoes over rice, a bottle of Sprite, a small heap of raspberry-swirled brownies -- and is ensconced in a pile of pillows. A Kindle sits forgotten beside him, his attention right now mostly on his phone; he's been talking brightly enough at its screen. "-- no, like, whole-ass spiders. You should be glad they're not shipping 'em out there yet. The nurse things are fine but those are creepy as hell. Yeah -- no alright. Stay safe." Whoever is on the other side of his video chat can't be seen from the entryway; he leaves one of his earbuds in as he tucks his phone back into his pocket.

After Glens conversation with Lael he was good to be out side, he had shifted away from any type of solid matter so he wouldn't break anything, he somehow got him self lost looking at his phone. Checking out the latest news "huh cool Tony stark was found" after looking around feeling lost and confused he looked up and saw the tree house "well would you look at that they have a tree house" looking for a way to get up he ultimately decideds to shift into his alternate dimension and phase up to the tree house, once he gets into the tree he shifts back into reality making a large bursting sound of air

Harm comes up the ladder carefully, their own bowl of channa balanced in one hand. They're swathed in a soft knit hooded jacket in a water purple blue ombre, a green linen tunic, brown linen wrap pants, dark green handmade ankle boots. Their hair has started to grow out, shaggy about the ears and prone to flop across one eye. They're just in the process of ducking into the treehouse proper when Glen appears, the gust of wind whipping the hood off of their head and the surprise causing them to stumble back a step, narrowly avoiding a fall backward by catching themselves on the door frame. The look they shoot Glen is sharp, but they swallow whatever complaint was behind it and just says, "Hi." And then to Gaétan, "Welcome back."

Gaétan nearly drops his phone straight his curry, fumbling and then catching it as the corner drops into the chickpeas. His eyes dart up, first to Glen and then to Harm, narrowed by the time they return to Glen. His head shakes as he wipes sauce off the edge of his phone case. "Dude," one hand turns upward, his voice soft and his quiet snort softer, "what the fuck." He leans back against a pillow, stretches one leg out in front of him. He's much less colourful than Harm -- just jeans, black sneakers, a soft denim workshirt worn open over a plain grey tee. His chin tips up casually to Harm. "Glad the 'rona didn't get you."

Glen winces seeing both of their reactions "sorry..I forgot how alarming it is for me to just suddenly appear" Glen is wearing blue skinny jeans, red converse trainers and a green flannel shirt "I'm Glen, it's nice to meet you" he then sits down looking at harm he nods regarding them as one of the only students he has met "thank god you caught your phone and thank god you didn't fall" his eyes had finally stopped fully glowing and he sat down catching his breath as he couldn't breathe in the alternate dimension

Harm blinks at Glen, opens their mouth and closes it again, looks for a moment like they are seriously reconsidering their choice of a place to eat, but finally they do sit down, cross-legged. "Same to you," they tell Gaétan, their eyes wide and earnest. "I swear my parents were calling every day to check I hadn't died." They stir their curry slowly. "No matter how many times I told them we were in quarantine."

"Uh -- huh." Gaétan doesn't really look at Glen here; he's occupied finishing wiping down his phone. Tucking it away. "Have you forgotten you can just. Walk places? Even at this school, walking still works." He pulls his plate into his lap, scooping a spoonful of chickpeas up, and he's very clearly not actually expecting an answer to this question because he's already moved on from it, offering Harmony a crooked smile. "I don't blame them. The city was a nightmare and I'm sure from California this all just looks like 'New York'. Are your folks alright, though?"

Glen shrugs "technically I was walking, just in a different plane of plane of existence?" He pulls his phone out reading the news article about Tony stark again. Confused about everything that has been going on.

"True. My folks are fine. They're back together, at Earthsong -- you know, the commune. Almost wish I was there, bet it's hilarious." Harm pushes their wind-tossed bangs out of their face -- some of it is long enough to tuck behind an ear, but some flops right back down. "Hope your families are safe, too." They glance at Glen, frowning. "Wait, I thought you were teleporting. If you're just walking anyways, why do you do it everywhere you go?" They take a bite of their meal and nods approvingly. "Wow, I hope we can just...keep getting apocalypse food. Without the apocalypse."

"So you're not even teleporting? What then? You're getting yourself out of breath and *not* even saving any time? Do you -- *just* do it so you can startle people?" Gaétan quirks one dark eyebrow up. He scoops some curry into his mouth, makes a soft appreciative hum as he chews. "Back at Earthsong? So like... hippie preppers are fine again when the supermarkets are out of stock?" There's a faint twitch to his lips but it doesn't actually make it into a smile. "Well," the rest of his answer comes slowly, "Matt didn't die. So." Shrug. "You know, yet. Anyway, do we really know the apocalypse has ended? The way this year's been going I wouldn't be shocked if another was just around the corner."

Glen shifts a little in his sit leaning forward "it's not that I'm just walking around, it's like I'm a ghost kind off. I can move through solid objects when I do it, gravity doesn't really matter there too. So I can jump really high, and the only reason I lose my breath is because there is no air there" Glen smiles "I can't be harmed in that place, I'd say it was peaceful but I can still hear everything that goes on around me..so it's kind of like a shortcut" Glen smiles hopelessly knowing that was the best way to describe his powers "oh and I can hold my breath longer...guess it's my body adapting to my ability"

"I guess! See how long it lasts, I guess." Harm digs into their curry some more, then freezes, wincing. "My parents, I mean, not um -- Matt. Not dying." They blush faintly "Good point -- like there's still so much year left. We're not even *close* to November, and the president's already trying to go to war with China." Their eyebrows hike higher and higher with Glen's explanation, disappearing beneath their hair. "Um. Okay...?"

"Aight, bro." Gaétan scoops up his Kindle and his food as well, tucking the e-reader into his back jeans pocket. "You know, I think I'm gonna go eat this in my room." His brows lift to Harm, the small twitch of his head a silent invitation as he heads toward the ladder. "See you round, ghost-guy."

Glen laughs "I've been called worse see you guys around" Glens eyes glow green and he holds his breath disappearing from sight and then phasing through the floor and landing on the ground. He then walks away

Harm nods, picking up theirs food and rising one smooth motion, pulling their hood back up against the chill outside. "Bye, and --" they say to Glen, just a beat too late as he vanishes, "-- good luck...with that?" Their brows wrinkle, then ease they shake their head. "Been working on any quarantine tunes?" they ask as they follow Gaétan.
