"im new"

Location

<XAV> Library - Xs First Floor

Xavier's librarian might hope the library is a quiet place to sit and study, but with a school full of teenagers that is not always the case. Nevertheless, it is certainly a treasure trove of knowledge, well-stocked with a wealth of books on its high shelves. Its reference section is vast, though its fiction is as well (much to the delight of many of its students.) The wide octagonal tables and smaller armchairs are often crowded with students, though the whispered conversations that often take place leave some doubt as to how much work is getting done at any given hour.

This time last week Xavier's was a ghost town, calm and quiet and home only to the summertime skeleton crew, those students with no other place to go or those so keen on getting ahead or catching up from where they'd fallen behind that they actually invested time and energy into summer term classes. Now, though, it bustles, filled again with the noise and chaos of everyone settling back in for the term. The dorms are rife with the often companionable, sometimes prickly energy of kids meeting and re-meeting each other, the dining room is full of dinner (turkey pot pie or cauliflower spinach lasagna, today), a steady stream of people trek in and out of the grounds with bags and boxes to unload.

The library, in contrast, is -- still pretty quiet. Bright, welcoming, but so far spared much of the rush. At a first glance it looks mostly empty -- Nessie is out of sight of the door, tucked down one of the stacks with a sheaf of papers in hand and several books already tucked in the crook of one arm, frowning as she looks over her syllabi to pick out the books she'll need for classes. Even at Xavier's she -- stands out. Crouching down on her segmented arachnoid legs, she still towers over many people, barbed tail swishing lazily over her head. She's dressed only in a plain grey button-down, her lean curveless torso and hard-shelled head providing little clues by way of gender.

Tomas wandered down the halls of the school finishing his pudding cup and trying to get his bearings. He came across the library and wandered in. As he entered he stood in awe of the massive library, it was nothing like the library at his old school. He tossed the empty cup into the trash and fidgeted with the spoon before licking it clean and placing in in his jacket pocket. He rummaged in his satchel and grabbed his charger cable and placed it around his neck he looks around the library for a outlet before looking down a stack to see Nessie. Upon seeing them He lets out an audible gasp which causes the lights above him to flicker. He is nervous to approach them but he slowly does.

Nessie's tail flicks more sharply when Tomas gasps. Her most forward pair of eyes narrow, but do not look up from her examination of the shelves in front of her. The two beady black pairs set alongside her skull just stare, wide and dark, at Tomas. "You need something?"

Tomas stands still for a moment before nodding and holding out his phone charger and pointing at the plug part of it.

Nessie doesn't move -- and at her size, she's pretty much blocking the space between there and the wall. "Uhh --" She looks back down to her list. Shifts her grip to move her books down from one arm (relatively human looking) to a lower arm (insectoid, pincer-tipped) and hold them against her torso as she reaches to get another book off the shelf. "There are other plugs."

Tomas nervously shuffles a bit before pulling out his notebook and writes "where are they? im new" and showing it to her and looking away as she reads it.

Nessie doesn't read it. Not at first, at least; she isn't particularly looking at him, so his silent writing does very little to get her attention. It's only after she finishes selecting her book and starts to move -- rising up-up-up higher on the tips of her legs to tower even higher over the other student -- that she even seems to notice he's written anything at all.

"Uhhhh," is a little more drawn out than before. "I don't -- know why you think I'd know that? Is that a thing people just know? You could -- I don't know, use your eyes? Look?" She sounds deeply confused as she skitter-steps sideways, stretching up tall to peer at the higher shelves. Determinedly not look at Tomas again.

Tomas looks up and down the student one last time before sighing and walking away, he continues to wander around the library eventually finding a outlet in an opposite corner. he sits down next to it and plugs his phone in, he seems frustrated it wont turn on, he shakes the phone a bit causing it to power on, he gives the phone a confused look and shrugs slinking down into his corner focusing on his phone.
