xxxxxRuby is a girl in transition. She was born to a wealthy family with all the privilege and protection that provides. She is is attending Xavier's on her parent's dime. That doesn't bother her, but her recent brush with the Maine court system has opened her eyes to how the other 99% live.

xxxxxRuby has an extensive wardrobe, and generally dressed how a sheltered teenage girl thinks she should be dressed. Formal wear, check. City walker, check. Dress casual, in spades. Punk scene, check. Athletic gear, several checks. Racing Gear, no, confiscated as evidence.
xxxxxAt school: pleated skirts (plaid or solid), white shirts, puffy socks, and sweater vests during school hours. This is what's familiar and comfortable to her. She also waged a small war to get here, and isn't giving that up.
xxxxxOff time: baggy sweaters or loose tunics paired with with leggings.
xxxxxAlone: her father's old, velvety, thread-bare robe. It even has a nickname, stubble.

xxxxx"She's a brat." She has a forceful personality, and is used to getting her way. She also dresses and acts like a rich kid, so she's probably managed to cheese off a few people by the start of the spring semester.

| History

xxxxxGrew up in the rich suburbs of Portland, Maine. Attended, and was kicked out of, the most exclusive private schools. As a child she had behavioral problems and railed against the gender assigned to her. She stole girls uniforms, skipped class, and got into fights with boys.
xxxxxAfter switching to Ruby in late elementary school, she was accepted into a mixed French/English middle school. From there, she joined the high school iteration of that program. In the summer of her Freshman year, her wild side caught up with her again.
xxxxxShe, with no license and no insurance, participated in illegal street race from Portland, ME to Concord NH. The Maine and New Hampshire state police caught the racers at the states' boarder. The adults were sentenced to years in jail and forbidden from owning a drivers license. Other minors were also forced to serve jail time, and had their licenses revoked until they were 21 or older. She, thanks to her family's political connections, got off with a fine and a summer of community service in exchange for her agreeing to not seek a drivers license nor drive on public roads, until she was 18. Her parents also did what rich parents do, and sent their miscreant child to a boarding school. Ruby jockeyed them into picking Xavier's (she's still not sure how she pulled that off).

xxxxxShe creates springy, near-weightless ribbons that come into existence at fingertips. As long as one end of the ribbon is in contact with her, she can extend and retract the ribbon. They look like red sugar ribbons.
xxxxxShe can maintain the ribbons as long as she's paying some attention to them. If she can see or feel them, she can generally sustain them with negligible effort. Maintaining them in another room, or when a large force is applied to them is much harder. The limits of her ribbons are the limits of her will. The more extreme the situation, the more likely it is for the her ribbons to break. She's had a few ribbons break on her, and is afraid of testing them in a life-or-death situation.
xxxxxShe can stick the ribbons to surfaces, other ribbons, and--unbeknownst to her at this time--to midair. Creating the ribbons takes energy from her, and retracting or re-absorbing the ribbons restores most of the spent energy. If a ribbon breaks, that energy dissipates with a flash and a pop.

xxxxxShe speaks, reads, and writes French fluently. She speaks a small amount of Mandarin Chinese, but only knows the most common characters (mostly food). She is a good cook, a skilled--if annoying--head chef, and an efficient sous chef. She knows a bit of sewing--courtesy Marinov--and makes her own pleated plaid skirts. She's also equipped with a rich girl's best friend, a high limit credit card bankrolled by her parents.

- She has her own room at Xaviers at her parents' private request--and expense. They haven't told her.
- She discovered her powers in a drag race gone awry. She lost steering and launched off the quarter-mile into a nearby tree. She, like a typical teen, wasn't using her restraints, and her ribbons manifested around her keeping her in the driver's seat
- She grew up at heels of her house's staff. As she grew, they let her work beside them. There she learned to not leave messes (not physical ones), and how to cook for 1 to 500.
