'You got pretty mad. Just now.' (Part of Flu Season TP.)

Location

<XS> Roof

The view from up here is phenomenal, a panorama of the expansive Xavier's grounds, forest and lake and rocky cliffs alike. Even without the view outwards, the rooftop itself holds its own delights, in the form of the tiny jewel of a flower garden tucked away up here, tended by one of the school's teachers. From the edge of the roof, with a veeery careful jump, it looks like it just might be possible to reach the treehouse in the old oak tree.

It's only three of her right now. Two, Three, and Five. There's only so much sittable space on the roof after all! Still, there's room for a few more people here, and the other two are probably off somewhere else doing something (at least one of them is in fact studying ASL right now!). The other three? They're combing through the flowers right now, trying to pick out the weeds and other things, though it is not in fact her garden. Right now? She's even got an ipod with speaker dog playing italian versions of popular pop songs. She also looks rather pale and drawn just now. Still, the weather is nice and cool, the night sky is clear and relatively pretty, and she's got her last bag of chex mix.

Jack makes it a few steps onto the roof before he notices the music, having been off in thought. Dressed in lounge pants and a hoodie, the invisible teen's got a pair of disposable gloves on and is looking at something on his phone until the music catches his attention. He blinks a few times once he notices the Ellins, lifting a hand to wave.

A short while after Jack the window opens again, a skinny figure emerging in oversized canvas jacket, baggy grey sweatshirt, faded bluejeans, hiking boots. K.C. is looking up at the stars rather than at either of the other students, one hand tucked into her jacket pocket and the other dancing in front of her, fingers fluttering as if in time to music. "... where are you going." Oddly monotone as her voice is, there's only the /where/ in this sentence to mark it as a question, no actual inflection given to the last word. No particular indication of who she's talking to, either, eyes turned -- outward, now, towards the trees rather than at the others.

Two of the Ellins continue to pick over the garden while the third rises, dusting her hands on her pants lazily. Five smiles a thin smile, and waves a greeting, before signing,"What's up? What can I do for you?" And then K.C. is there, and a look of irritation follows. Which soon turns to nostril-flaring anger, as she signs sharply at K.C.: < Watch the english! > Certainly more huffy than usual, anyway.

Jack slips his phone into his pocket and tugs his gloves a little before signing. 'Didn't know anyone was up here' he signs. K.C.'s appearance and words have Jack tensing up and the empty hood giving her as much of an annoyed look as it can. "{No English.}" he snaps in Spanish.

K.C.'s brows crease faintly as she studies the trees, her fingers still fluttering in front of her. She mouths something to herself, though this time whatever she has said does not actually get /vocalized/. Lips just moving silently. Her head bobs quietly to herself, eyes shifting down to the rooftop as she turns around to climb back into the window and head inside again.

< Fucking seriously. Show some consideration for other people. > There's a snarl on her face, her signs short, sharp aggressive. And swearing? The frown stays fixed on her face, even as she looks back at Jack,< Every time with that girl. Every fucking time. > She may, of course, be overreacting. Then again, they're sick. The other two stand up, hands on hips, the same snarl on the lips of the other two, teeth making a grinding sort of sound.

Jack watches as K.C. just walks away and heads back inside. He makes a mental note to look into the strangeness some other time. At the moment, he's got other things to focus on. He arches an unseen brow at the anger from Ellin, picking up on it even if he doesn't get all the signs. 'You argue with her a lot?' he signs carefully.

< She's fucking pushy. Has to have things her way all the time. Won't even LISTEN to a discussion on things. She gives NO shits for anyone outside herself. > Two tears open the remaining bag of Chex Mix and begins shoveling it into her mouth. As she eats, her expression begins to calm a little bit and the lines of anger and irritation begin to fade. Mostly, her attention seems on eating.

Jack nods, humming a little. He can understand how that would make someone angry. 'Maybe avoid her for now. Until you're all better.' he signs, watching the Ellins. 'You got pretty mad. Just now.'

The girls look up as one. < Mad? I... didn't feel very angry. > Except, they were obviously pretty angry. < I don't get mad. > Except they clearly do. And then she suddenly looks embarassed. Ellin asks: < Should I go apologize to her? > Now she's going to spend a WHOLE lot of time WORRYING about it. < Was I mean? Was I mean to you? I... should be better NOW. I'm pretty much finished with the medicine. >

Jack's frown is unseen but he turns to face the girls more fully. Taking a step towards them, he watches them for a moment and then shakes his head. 'You got mad' he signs. 'Not mean to me,' he adds almost like it doesn't matter to him. It does, he's just focusing on something else that has his attention. 'Finished? How much more do you have to take?' he asks.

< None. But... I'm still frustrated. Hungry. I'm supposed to be better right? > This suddenly reflects three pairs of paniced and frightened eyes directed at Jack, as if perhaps she hadn't really considered just what that means until now. < Sorry, sorry. Just freaking out a little right now. >

Jack considers this a moment before quickly reaching into his pocket and taking out a small notebook. He quickly scribbles something onto one of the pages and lets out a breath. "{I might be crazy...}" he mutters in Spanish. Shaking it off, Jack puts the notebook back away and signs something. 'It's ok. Maybe you should go rest. Talk to the doctors in the morning?'

The girl makes a face at that, but nods after a long moment. Her expression is defeated. < Yeah. I'll do that? I need... I need to not think about this. I just... > One of the girls suddenly strikes a planter. Her hand rebounds off of it, reddening, and then she's shaking her hand a little. Doesn't look broken, and it's not even red. Still. It's demonstrative: < Sorry to bolt, Jack. I just... I'm going to take your advice and lay down. Thanks. > The girl gathers herselves and begins to file out one by one.

Jack tenses up at the assault on planter, ready to spring into action if need be. When nothing goes flying off the roof, he relaxes a little. 'Don't worry. Goodnight' he signs, watching the Ellins go. He lingers up there on the roof, staring out over the grounds. Eventually, Jack tugs on his hood and starts back inside as well. There's work to do.
