"You settling in okay? Or do I need to break a few legs?"

Location

<XS> School Grounds

Xavier's School is situated on grounds as luxurious as the mansion itself. The tree-lined drive brings you up to the lush green sweep of front lawn and the wide front porch with its bench swing, often frequented by students studying in pleasant weather. The large oak tree in the front yard is home to a tire swing, installed long ago beneath the sturdy old treehouse.

The lawn rolls out all the way down to the thin rocky pier at the edge of the glittering lake. The water stretches huge and wide off into the distance, the boathouse a small blip at its shore. Along its bank, forest stretches dense and shady to one side; to the other cliffs start to rise, high and rocky, providing trails for hiking or climbing, for the adventurous.

Ahhh the Xavier's School Grounds. So much wasted land and not a good place to score drugs in walking distance. In short not Marrows favorite place to visit. Gate security have, grudgingly, allowed her entry and phoned ahead to the main building about a visitor. Possibly in the hope that she'd be done with her business without dirtying up the main building.

The Sewer Knight has on her cleanest set of biker leathers and is just smoking tobacco for a change. Who knows if that's through person choice or telepathic influence! And has a duffle bag slung over one shoulder. She saunters along blowing occasional smoke rings into the air and scowling at how weirdly clean everything is.

Even /Nessie/ is clean, here. Her button-down shirt is still old and dingy and faded from white to a yellowish colour but it has, at least, been washed. As has Nessie, clean and showered. She's sitting on the front porch, all her legs folded up beneath herself and a sketchpad in her lap, though she's ignoring it at the moment. Sipping instead at a bottle of Coke. Her eyes light when Marrow comes into view, and she rises to her feet, waving eagerly from behind the porch railing.

Marrow nods in response to the waving and, reluctantly, picks up the pace a little. "Hey kiddo," she finally greets. "Couple of people back in the tunnels found some things they thought you could use. Changes of clothing, stuff like that." She glances around. "I also thought you could use a little spending money. In case anyone was giving you shit for not having... I dunno sneakers? Whatever fuckin' passes for 'cool'." The bag is dropped on the porch and she digs around in her jacket pocket. "Five hundred dollars should be enough right? And not a /word/ to anyone about it."

Nessie's feet click against the porch boards, kind of restless, kind of a /restrained/ dance that suggests she is Trying So Hard not to approach Marrow. With a /hug/, no doubt. She manages to check the urge, just nodding along at first with the older Morlock's words -- though at the end her eyes (all six of them) grow bigger. "Woah are you serious?" Behind her, her tail swishes faster. "I could get whole new shirts with that."

Marrow eyes the tail, then sighs. "You know what. Lets make it a round thousand," she decides with a scowl. "That way you can buy new clothing which actually fits all of you in time for winter." She looks around. "Gets much colder out of the tunnels with all this open space. But. We're clear on this. Anyone back home asks where the clothing came from you tell them the school got it? Or else next time you're back home you'll be helping clean tunnels which get blocked by diapers an' shit." The extra few notes are counted out and practically jabbed at Nessie to emphasise the point.

Nessie takes the money quickly, tucking it into the breast pocket of her shirt. "The school gave me some Xavier's tees," she says with a small scowl -- but is hasty to add reassuringly, "I still won't tell anyone! I do /not/ want to spend my weekends on diaper duty." An exaggerated shudder. "Did you want to get some food? You came all the way out here! I think there's still dinner." Kind of hushed: "They cook /so/ much here."

"Oh and don't spend it all in one place at once," Marrow adds with a smirk. "Some of it came from a bank robbery a few years back. Safe enough to spend bit by bit just don't try put it into a savings account." Sure enough the bundle it's coming from still has the paper wrapper from a bank on it and they all have sequential numbers on the notes. "And no, I didn't rob the bank.... Food? I guess I could eat. Suppose I should finish this first.." She inhales and exhales her way through the rest of the cigarette. "The amount they charge the least they can do is give out a few free t-shirts and make decent meals. You settling in okay? Or do I need to break a few legs?"

"That would be a /really/ expensive shirt." Nessie's hand rubs thoughtfully against her cheek. "What do you think a /thousand/ dollar shirt would even be like? I bet it'd be the softest thing." The news of the bank robbery doesn't seem to surprise her much, though she does lift a hand to tap against her pocket like double-checking that the wad of bills is still there. "It's -- it's okay, I guess. My roommates are /totally/ normal it's so uncomfortable. But one of them seems -- kinda," she sounds uncertain, "nice, anyway." Very noncommitally, though. "It's definitely not like home."

"No point me wearing a good shirt," Marrow points out with a snort of laughter. "Be full a holes and soaked in blood in a day. I figure it won't be cheap making... I dunno.. giant scorpian pants... Though maybe you could use horse blankets? Up to you." She tucks the remainder of the money back into her jacket with a disturbing lack of regard. "You'll probably get sick of the place before long. But try stick it out. Might not seem like any of this shit is good for anything, but it gives you options. College maybe. Besides if we get more zombie plague you'll get meds here and," She winks. "Makes it easier to get everyone back home treatment too. We can just send the sick to 'visit'."

"I don't know where you can get giant scorpion pants." Nessie sighs at this. "But blankets I can definitely find. And there's a person here who makes clothes! Maybe I could get them to /make/ me a pair of warm pants." She shrugs, holding her sketchbook close to her chest. "They have so much medicine and stuff in the clinic downstairs." This is a little hushed. Kind of awed. "Anyone back home is sick you let me know, 'kay?" Brighter, she trots over to the front door, holding it for Marrow with one long pointed foot. "There was this beef stew tonight that was /so/ good! And the freezer is /full/ of ice cream."

Marrow nods. "I've seen a lot of the place before," she admits. "'S why I want to keep us on good relations with this place. We get a pretty sweet deal out of it. Even if you'll have to sit through counting classes." She stubs the remains of her cigarette out on the door frame as she heads inside. "Everyones doing pretty well right now. Thanks to some moron journalist I've become quite the drug dealer. And it's brought up some potential 'philanthropic' oppertunities. I might even be able to pay for your tuition. Icecream huh? Always a good one for mutants, plenty of calories and the dairy is good for bone growth.... No clue what you need for bug parts though."

"Woah that's good, right? For business. You gotta be doing well if --" Hushed once more like it's a /secret/, Nessie informs Marrow earnestly, "I mean this place is /swank/. They probably charge like five thousand dollars." She might be lowballing juuust a bit. Her answer is cheerful though as she leads the way into the school: "Ice cream! Isn't that what /everyone/ needs?"

Marrow chuckles. "Well. I'll check in with staff and make sure they accept cash payments," she decides. "But first lets relieve them of some food. Either way I've got a long walk and a busy night of business to attend to."
