<NYC> Tompkins Square Park - East Village

Small but popular, this tree-lined park is a perfect centerpiece to the eclectic neighborhood it resides in. Home to a number of playgrounds and courts from handball to basketball, it also houses a dog park and chess tables, providing excellent space for people watching -- especially during its frequent and often eccentric festivals, from Wigstock to its yearly Allen Ginsberg tribute Howl festival.

It's mid-evening on this rainy day. The rain has subsided for now, and the sun is almost gone, setting quickly. The grass is moist, and the sidewalk wet, but it is still pleasant, and a couple people can still be seen walking around, albeit with their umbrellas just incase a sudden storm comes again. A small brown bird with a white chest sits on the back of a park bench, just watching as people walk by. It doesn't move when people sit next to it, instead, it just scoots over to make room, peculiarly. The bird chirps, as it glances around, before leaping down onto the bench itself, sitting.

Ash wanders his way toward the Village Lofts quietly, an open bottle of root beer in one hand. He hums quietly as he walks, choosing to stay off the path and enjoy the feel of the bare ground under his boots. He takes a sip and looks up toward the sky, eyes narrowing at the clouds before his free hand reaches up to ruffle his hair, giving a shrug. He moves over to the tree next to the bench and rests a hand on it, smiling quietly at the bark. He's dressed in loose fitting hole ridden jeans, with a tee shirt on top. His boots are strong steel toed, tan in color and well used. All of him is covered in a light layer of grime, but it's his good grime, not the messy stuff he picks up at work. After staring at the tree for a while, he turns and presses his back to it, turning to examine the park as a whole now.

The bird flies over, above the tree, landing on a branch. It chirps once. It then chirps again. This time, the chirp turns into a human voice, high pitched, but not terribly loud. "Why are you so dirty? Wait, sorry, not my business, apologies. Just saw you over here and you seemed like the most interesting person in the park, so. Sorry!". The bird chirps again, twitching its beak. "I should introduce myself, I mean, that's the first thing you do when you meet someone new, yes? My name is Rasputin. Okay, this is getting awkward.". Rasputin drops down to a lower branch. "I'm failing at this socializing thing, aren't I?".

Ash looks around, frowning. He glances left and right for people shaped things, then glances up, still looking for feet. "I'm dirty because I want to be," he replies, still confused. "Well, it's kind of a strange thing to try to talk to people without actually being here -- or visible, or whatever it is you're doing." He crosses one arm over his chest, then takes a sip from his bottle before crossing it over his chest as well.

Rasputin squawks. "I'm actually..right above you?". Ze leaps off the branch, landing infront of Ash. "But, yeah, I get how that is kind of..awkward? Also, don't be alarmed, just a talking bird. Happens all the time. I think.". The bird smiles, as much as a bird can, atleast?". Rasputin looks around, before flying back up to the branch. "I'm so sorry, I'm just...new to meeting people, so I try and talk to atleast one interesting person a day. It's kind of hard when you're..an animal?".

Ash blinks a few times as he watches the bird flies about and lands before him, his head tilting to one side. "I..." He draws in a deep breath as his head tilts the other way, slowly lowering himself onto one knee. It's aborted though, when the bird flies upward again. "I can imagine. Though, not fully sure why you'd think I was interesting - or at all safe to talk to. Kind of a crap shoot, if you ask me, and you're more than likely going to make people think they're crazy. Not everyone can handle that."

Rasputin's birdy face tries to pale, difficultly. "Um. wow. I didn't uh. think about it that way. I'm sorry.". Ze looks around, and then at the sky. "I apologize for bothering you, kind sir. I will leave you alone now.". Rasputin then proceeds to soar up into the sky, flying off, to places unknown.

"Oh. Okay." Ash draws in a deep breath and shakes his head. "Good luck and all that."
