<XS> Ducky and Lyric's Dorm - FL2

Tucked into a spire at the end of the girls' hall, this dorm is one of the few three-student suites. Spacious, its arrangement in the oddly circular room is nonstandard; two lofted beds sit near two of the room's many windows, with their respective desks tucked beneath. The third bed, a regular twin, sits across the room, next to a desk of its own. There is plenty of space in the room's three closets, and one of the tall windows even has a very tiny accompanying balcony just outside.

Classes are over for the day, but dinner is not quite ready in the kitchens, leaving students to their own devices for the intervening time. Granted, with the appearance of the snowpeople assistants, numerous dorms sit empty as their residents opt to frolic outside with their newly arived snow-assistants. Not all, though, as at least one dorm on the girl's hall is occupied, the door left partially open onto the hallway. The door had been opened since classes have ended, when she actually got a chance to read the e-mail from Sebastian.

Inside the dorm, Ducky sits at her desk, head bowed over some variety of homework, one hand tugging aimlessly at her hair as she concentrates. She is dressed casually, a pair of worn black cargo pants, a gray long sleeve t-shirt, and a bright green hooded fleece vest over top. "No, that's not what it's supposed to come out to. S'possed to balance the equations, I'm missing something," she mutters quietly, at first glance to no one but herself. The dappled gray and white pigeon on her shoulder bobs its head, though, in apparent disagreement with Ducky's grousing. "No. Seriously, not helping. Really not helping." Occasionally, she glances up from her work, peering out into the hallway anxiously, before forcing herself to focusing back on her chemistry home work.

There's a timid knock on the doorframe to Ducky's dorm, a tiny blue face peering in from the hallway. Sebastian lingers in the doorway, posture hunched down into a plain black sweatshirt and a pair of tan cargo pants, dark hiking boots on his feet. He holds a tablet -- not Horus's but his own sleek black Stark model -- clutched in his arms. "Ducky? 'kai come in?" He sounds apologetic to even be asking, eyes darting nervously around the hallway and then her bedroom. He glances to her homework with teeth digging briefly against his lip. "Um. Do you -- need some --" His cheeks darken faintly. "I mean, I took chem last year." He sounds apologetic about that, too."

Ducky looks up at the knock on the door, grinning at Sebastian, "Oh, hey, yeah, sure. Come on in. You okay?" She scoots over to be close enough to push the door the rest of the way open, gesturing in to one of the spare chairs in the room. "S'just me right now. Well, me and Kushi, but, Kushi's usually kinda around me all the time anyway, so s'kinda a package deal," Ducky babbles, ruffling her hair as she does. "I wouldn't necessarily object to help, if that's what you were offering. M'trying to do some extra credit type stuff right now, to make up for the quiz I kinda maybe skipped because of the chocolate rain and dream thing," she sounds apologetic about this, but grins, "I'm good with environmental sciences. Chemistry without context kinda just goes over my head." Her eyes settle on the tablet, a bit confused, tilting her head in birdish fashion, "I know you said you fixed it in your e-mail, and you're really good with tech and stuff... but that's really impressive." Not that she can tell the difference between tablets, it would seem.

"Oh -- oh this isn't." Sebastian's blush deepens heavily. "This isn't. Horus's, his is still. Really banged up, I just. I pulled all the data off it and put it on mine to make it easier to, um. To look through. I can give his back to you but it's still really -- dinged up, I think Ba's going to have to make him a new one when he. Gets back."

He slips further into the room, setting the tablet down on the edge of the desck and pulling out his little holo-projector to plug it into the tablet as well. "And yeah. I was -- was offering. Help. With the chemistry, I mean. After I show you -- I mean I thought I'd show you where. Where he seems to have. Been last, so far as I can. Tell. It's kind of neat what you can tell from things these days, you know, they're connected to so many different apps. Like just little things like checking the weather? Which refreshes every hour for him and triangulates his position. Anyway." His cheeks flush darker as he flicks on his tablet, fingers swiping rapidly against the screen. "Oh and Hi Kushi. Apologies. My mind's -- a million places."

"Oh! Oops, heh," Ducky says at the revelation that the tablet is not a miraculously repaired dream-tech, "Yeah, I guess when it's that busted up, it's kinda not worth it to really fix to useable-ness. But! I'm glad you were able to get data. That's awesome, right? I mean, confusing, yeah, 'cause it got dreamed up, same as the feather, the rain, and now the snow-peoples." The dreamed up feather is placed carefully on her desk, the end of it stuck into a hole in what looks like a sponge made of shiny yellow metal, being used as a paper weight. "So... you actualy might be able to find where he was last? Like... where I could... I mean, um, where the proper responsible adults could find him?" Ducky mumbles the last bit, looking sheepish and tugging at her hair. The bird on her shoulder bobs its head in greeting and coos in response to the greeting. "S'ok. Thank you for doing this, though. I know a lotta people are worried about him, and I know you're busy, but, thank you," Ducky grins and bounces, eyeing the information projected from the tablet.

Sebastian actually smiles, at Ducky's mumbled correction, a small shy twitch of lips. "My dads met a person who can draw -- people long distance," he tells Ducky. "Like if he has something of theirs he can sketch what they're doing and the scenery around them. So between him and this maybe we can pinpoint -- what Horus is up to. And go pick him up. And bring him home." He sounds quietly hopeful, anyway. A few more swips of his fingers, and he's projecting a map into the air over Ducky's desk. Monticello, New York. An hour and a half or so upstate of where they are now. "Was outside the quarantine zone. So he probably avoided the worst of the zombies, at least. This was the last place his GPS pinged before his tablet went offline -- that was /way/ back in early November, though. But that's where he was. Can start -- looking into what's around there. And see if Pa and Ba's artist comes up with -- anything hopeful that can narrow it down more."

Ducky's smile grows brighter when Sebastian smiles, though she turns her attention back to the map, nodding slowly, "Draw people? That's.... awesome. And a bit unnerving. But hopefully helpful, maybe? I mean, mebbe there are landmarks, or specific things that he'll be able to draw to show stuff, and we can check that sorta thing." She frowns at how nearby he had been, just a relatively short drive away, chewing on her lower lip as she thinks. "It's at least a start. It's more than we knew last week, which is something. I can try and get some of my birds to go out that way. Not all of them are really so fond of flying so far away right now, though, which kinda makes them a bit pointless for looking for people right now," she frowns, reaching up to pet Kushi idly, as an almost apology. "I'm glad that if nothing else, this means he probably missed out on most of the zombie stuff. That was terrifying," Ducky admits quietly, ruffling her hair and tugging at the somewhat shorter patch at the hairline, at which point Kushi pecks lightly at her fingers.

"Well it's -- /really/ cold." Sebastian looks towards the window with a wrinkle of his nose. "But maybe this weekend we can get Ba or someone to /drive/ us out there and then you can ask the birds who live out that way /anyway/. And -- yeah if. If he missed the worst of all that stuff that's -- good cuz." He shudders, collapsing the map back down and tapping the projector off. He flicks his fingers towards the chemistry homework, glancing towards Lyric's empty side of the room and dragging her desk chair over. "You want to try to tackle some of this before dinner?"

Ducky nods emphatically, bouncing slightly in her seat at the mention of possibly being able to get a ride out that way to try and help, "I would like that. I want to be able to help somehow." She ruffles her hair, and eyes the homework that had been pushed aside in favor of more pressing matters, glancing back at Sebastian, "Thank you, yeah, that'd be awesome. Might mean I actually have a shot of not looking like a complete bird-brain when I hand it in." Pulling the textbook back towards her, scooting it over so that Sebastian could see it, too.

Sebastian's tiny smile twitches again. His eyes dart towards Kushi, and then to Ducky. He scoots closer as well, head bowing over the homework as he tucks a leg up beneath himself, getting comfortable so that he can begin to work.
