'Where I sign up?' (Part of Flu Season TP.)

Location

<XS> Anole and Nick's Dorm - FL2

The influx of new students this year has led to a bit of overcrowding at Xavier's, and it is starting to show in the dorm arrangements, many rooms like this one refitted for three students where they had once been built for only two. The standard two closets have been joined by a large armoire against one wall; three dressers have been moved in, three desks. A bunk bed on the left side, a lofted twin with its desk underneath it on the right.

It's shortly after a rather unsatisfying dinner, and Nick is draped across his bunk shirtless in a pair of black athletic shorts, one arm dangling off the side of the mattress to write in Vietnamese on the pages of a composition book open on the floor. His tail sways slowly from side to side where a hole has been cut in his shorts for it to pass through. His brown fur is neatly groomed, but noticeably less glossy than it was only a couple of weeks ago.

Anole doesn't knock on the door. Just scurries inside, freshly showered though this doesn't much help given that he's only got grubby filthy clothes to change back into. His eyes are a little wide as he skitters into the door, stopping just inside the doorway. "{... sorry,}" is the very first thing he squeaks out, in Spanish, after being Conspicuously Absent for weeks, Then signed, 'I hope you weren't getting excited about having a room to yourself.'

Nick's ears flick toward the door before it even opens, and it's a few second before he lifts his muzzle from his notebook. "{Hey,}" he greets his newly returned roommate, also in Spanish before he rolls into a sitting position where he *can* sign, 'Many-many new people. Will have new roommates soon.' His nose twitches at Anole. 'You, your family. Okay? You sick?'

'New roommates soon,' Anole agrees with a nod. 'I asked for change --' There's a faint blush as he admits this. 'Thought they would be more comfortable. With.' He glances down at himself, glances over to Nick, shrugs. He moves further into the room, shaking his head at the question. 'Me sick no. Many family yes. Causing trouble here but not sure where else to go. You sick? You okay?'

'That's fine,' as gently as Nick signs this, it seems likely he has already accidentally scraped himself with his talons doing so at least once. 'I not sick but...' His lips draw back slightly. 'Many people here. Not many food. Always hungry. Every day go hunting, but animals...less now.' He cocks his head, ears pressing back. 'Your people, I don't mind.' The corner of his mouth tugs to expose craggy-sharp molars, a more crooked grin than any human could manage. 'But happy you showered.'

'I scrubbed good. Still have to laundry though.' Anole's cheeks darken further. He skitters over to take a seat at his desk, pulling his legs up to hook his heels onto the edge of the chair. 'Been safe? Zombies gotten inside?' He bites down on his lip, nose wrinkling up. 'We drove through Salem. So many zombies.'

Nick waves one clawed hand in the air. 'Don't worry about it. My nose, everything smells a lot.' He picks up his composition book and closes it. 'Mostly safe. Zombies, not many come here.' His ears flatten and he looks down. 'Some students die, become zombies. The humans from Salem, told us, town all zombies now, but I not see.'

'Many people complaining.' Anole rubs at the back of his neck, giving his head a small shake. 'Taylor is going tomorrow. To Salem. Bring some people. Try and help the town. Clean up the zombie.'

The furry ridges of Nick's brows raise up. 'Maybe not enough, but...something.' He stops signing for a moment, looks at his sharply clawed hands, which look just a touch too big for his gangling body. 'Need more than these,' he waggles his fingers, 'to kill zombies.' Even so, he nods. 'Where I sign up?'

'You interested?' Anole raises his brows. 'Me, my people, we come with many weapon. Can supply.' He shifts a little uncertainly in his chair. 'Think you sign up with me. If you want to come. Taylor want to keep quiet.' He puts a finger to his lips. 'Not get too out of hand. Get anyone in danger who is not --' Shrug. 'Ready?' Though the small smile that follows is uncertain. 'Not like I am much B-A-D-A-S-S.'

Nick's ears perk up, and he nods decisively. 'Sign me up.' He considers Anole. 'You help, even if dangerous, if you not need to,' he signs slowly. 'That is...B-A-D-A-S-S enough.'

This makes Anole's mouth curl up further, his smile more confident, now. 'Was not looking forward to coming back here,' he admits. 'But maybe not all bad.'
