Rasa, Jack

2014-12-20

A glove is lost and found and a conversation is found before Rasa leaves for winter break.

Location

<XS> Boys' Hall - FL2

The boy's dormitory is more densely lined with doors than the main thoroughfare, nearly all of which sport some kind of bulletin or dry-erase board, or some manner of poster. This hallway is slightly more cluttered than its counterpart across the hall, with door-hangings prioritizing posters and decorations and dry-erase missives marginally more likely to be composed of crude drawings.

Jack's been a student at the shool a whole week so far. He's been generally friendly but for the most part, he's been avoiding the dorms and his room especially. It's likely to continue after the break but this evening, he can be found on his way down the hallway. Dressed in jeans and hoodie, he's taking a jacket off as he walks. Hood up, he's humming a little tune. His a few doors away from his, Jack notices he's dropped a glove when taking off his coat. "Huh...where'd it go?" he mutters, looking over his shoulder for the glove on the floor.

"It's by the archway." A voice sounds out from an unseen location in the dormitory, the hallway and doors free of people. Either this mutant has some type of supernatural sense for lost things, or is able to see without being seen. In this case, it's the latter. Instead of hanging out on the floor in standard view of passerbys, there is a red figure clinging to the ceiling. Ze is half dressed, sporting only a pair of shorts and black band across the chest for propriety's sake. It's not exactly as if ze'd be naked if ze where without them, as ze has a sprout - nay, a main of vibrant ruby hair that hangs shaggily toward the ground. Hir head is tipped downwards and two amber eyes pick out the misplaced accessory with ease from hir vantage point. "So you came."

Jumping, Jack looks around quickly. "Uhh..." he frowns when he doesn't find anyone. "Thanks," the invisible mutant goes on awkwardly, walking towards the archway and scooping the glove up. He pulls it on as he keeps trying to find the source of the help. When Rasa speaks again, Jack looks up and jumps again. "Woah, oh boy, startled me there," he chuckled. "Wait, what?" he asks, head tilting to the side as he peers up at Rasa. "You were expecting me?"

"Well, when we spoke about school, we couldn't really come right out and talk about mutant schools, so I don't know. It was a bit awkward, and we weren't exactly glowing recommendations for the education system, so I don't know if I really expected you." Rasa draws hirself into a ball and then stands up - or down - straightening out until hir head is more at a comfortable level for speaking. Hir tail swishes behind hir. "Personally, in the end, I favor education. Just feel it's a bit of a tease, getting one and then not being able to do anything with it. Of course, it's worse not having one. I just... like knowing things."

It takes Jack a moment but he offers an unseen smile when it clicks with him who he's talking with. "Oh, hey," he says as he takes his hood down. "Yeah, I figured coming to school was better than not," he chuckles. "I still have no clue what I'm going to do with this education but I'm hoping I can at least figure oout what I want to do here," he shrugs. "So uh, why're you up there?" he asks, pointing at the ceiling.

"Practice, mostly." Rasa draws hirself back to the ceiling before releasing it. Ze flips around and lands on hir feet and one hand on the ground in front of Jack. Hir expression does not relax when ze no longer has to concentrate on hir hold, hir lips twitching as ze pulls hirself out of a deeper frown. "The part I didn't talk about is the fact that the school will be able to look into your condition and offer counseling and guidance into control. It's entirely possible someone here may know the key to turning off your invisibility. So, by the time you graduate, you could go to a normal university and do whatever you want."

Jack watches the little acrobatic move and then looks up at the ceiling for a moment. "Just practicing being upside down or is there like a ceiling sports league here?" he tries a joke. When Rasa starts talking about the possibility of turning his invisibility off, Jack lets out a little sigh. "Yeah..." he trails off, rubbing the back of his neck. "B and Kisha were talking about that with me earlier...just...it'll be great if it's possible to control it but I don't want to get my hopes up and have 'em crushed," he shrugs. "And invisible or not, I have no clue what I want to do with my life."

Rasa eyes Jack's form evenly before starting to straighten hir mane with hir hands, trying to get it to lay down instead of being bristled up. "Yeah, yeah, that old schtick," ze growls softly as shakes hir head. The hairs seem to start standing on end again, like a giant red hedgehog. "No one here knows. You're a teenager. You're not going to know. Have you found anything nice about Xavier's yet?"

Jack frowns invisibly at the growl and his gaze tips to the floor. He glances back up in time to see Rasa's hair starting to stand back up. He nods to the question though. "Yeah, this place is pretty great actually. And not just because of the whole food and shelter thing," he replies. "Been meeting a bunch of mostly nice people. And the library is great too."

"You've got time before the future comes. Try to be a teenager for a while, okay? Gather ye rosebuds while ye may." Rasa exhales moodily and smooths hir hair down, all the way to the small of hir back. "Read books, play sports, breathe. Live." Hir gaze starts to shift up toward the ceiling once more, hir gaze growing thoughtful.

Jack gives a little faint chuckle, looking up as well. "That's another nice thing about this place," he says. "Getting a shot at doing that. You're right though...I should try to stop worrying so much," he says, tilting his head to the side. He takes a breath before looking back to Rasa. "So how've things been going for you since the last time we ran into eachother?"

"I finished my finals. Done with the term." The red starts to turn dark, settling into a brick shade at first, then darkening further. "Going to go stay with my friends and sneak out sometimes to see my person when he's off work. It's not really that the people I stay with care, but some of his family hates me, so it's kind of an issue." Ze exhales again, focused on hir own breathing right now. "Try to sleep. How about you? Probably not all worn out in the same way, but maybe sleep is on your agenda?"

"Oh man, hopefully you can enjoy some time with him without them getting in the way," Jack replies. He nods to the question though. "Yeah, I was planning on reading some before trying to sleep. Not a very exciting night planned."

"We find a way. I just haven't had time lately... between his schedule and mine. I'm just twitchy because it has been a while. There's nothing like missing your person." Rasa grumbles again low, hir fur the color of dried blood, nearly full on black. "Excitement is entirely overrated. I would be happy with a job that kept the bills paid and nothing but peaceful nights."

Jack nods to that. "Yeah, it sounds like it sucks," he replies. "And that sounds pretty good to. Though I'll settle for a nice quiet night and good book for now."

"Yep. Sucks. Life sucks." Rasa shakes hir head and starts to walk away. "You have a good night with your book, okay? I'll see you when the term starts up again."

Jack nods, waving a sleeve. "Enjoy the holidays. See you when school starts back up," he says, starting to head towards his dorm for the night.
