Anette, Daken, Rasa

Everyone else just wakes up from those dreams and moves on and I'm stuck reliving them? (Part of the Future Past TP)

Location

<NYC> Lower East Side

Historically characterized by crime and immigrant families crammed into cramped tenement buildings, the Lower East Side is often identified with its working-class roots. Today, it plays host to many of New York's mutant poor, although even here they are still often forced into hiding.

It's late and Rasa is heading out of Evolve for the night. It's not as late as it could be -- given that the club is not open on Mondays and the coffee shop only stays open so long, given the scarcity of energizing substances -- so all hands are not required for the evening shift. The teen looks up at a street light as ze exits, gazing beyond it at the night time sky, scowling at the rain. Ze doesn't bother with hir usual disguise tonight as it is late, counting on the water falling from the sky to keep most people's eyes off of hir skin. Ze is dressed otherwise in a bright red tank top over a swishy yellow and orange skirt, the precipitation beading up on hir shoulders as ze walks. Ze stuffs hir head scarf deep into hir bag so that it doesn't get wet as ze walks, head down, sadly ripe for bumping into.

And unfortunately that's exactly what Daken does as he rounds the corner, thankfully he wasn't rushing. "Oof, shit. Pardon, my mind was elsewhere." He's dressed in a dark hoodie, and it doesn't take somebody incredibly astute to notice that his pants aren't pants at all, but part of a dark bodysuit. "Didn't rough you up too bad, did I?"

Anette is a few steps behind Daken, ignoring the rain as it plasters her hair to her head and the trenchcoat covering her wings. As Daken runs into the stranger, she lets out a breath of hair, quietly waiting for them to make peace and be on their way again. She seems tired, or distracted, which is possibly why she doesn't realize just the other person is yet.

Rasa stumbles back a few steps, hir skin blossoming in bright oranges and reds on contact, matching the color of hir clothes, but also bristling with peaks and plateaus, with the density of foam rubber under the surface. Ze gets hir footing and extends gloved hands outward to steady hirself further. Ze tries to put a smile on at the sound of Daken's words, but it fails halfway, leaving hir neutral. "Oh. Um. No big deal. Blame the weather. Kind of day you get poked in the eye by umbrellas." There's an awkward half chuckle as ze attempts to continue on hir way, eyeing Anette as ze starts to pass.

Daken lifts his head a bit and sniffs the air, turning to look after Rasa. "We haven't met before, have we?" He sounds a touch confused, turning to look at Anette. "I swear, the older I get the harder it is to place a face. Or smell."

Anette stiffens as Rasa speaks, slowly the wheels in her mind turn as she places the voice. When Daken turns to look at her, her eyes suddenly dart up to face Rasa. In a split second, she's lunging towards Rasa, arm out and talons aiming for her throat. "You BITCH!"

"WHOA." Rasa jumps backwards and keeps skittering away, hir skin darkening once more as ze raises an arm to sweep away Anette's. Hir flip flop sandals slip off hir feet and are forgotten, given the rain and the backwards motion. "Settle down, lady." Brows furrow as ze glances over hir shoulder quickly to try to see where ze is going.

"I guess this is what it was like being my handler." Daken sighs, putting himself between Anette and Rasa as quickly as he can. "What the hell is going on?" he asks of Anette, glancing over his shoulder to look back at the teen.

"You seriously...you don't recognize her? Really?!" Anette stares in disbelief as Daken holds her back. "The dreams, our child, do you REALLY not remember the one got me killed during the raid?" As if saying it out loud reignited the fury within, she raises her arm, putting all her strength into getting past Daken and decking Rasa in the face.

"Recognizing me has its problems." Rasa ducks when Anette lunges again, counting on Daken to keep them separated. Ze reaches out one hand and finds the wall, hands and feet shifting quickly as ze starts to climb the bare face. "Look, whatever you ---" The defense falls flat when Anette starts making more specific accusations. "Hey, I didn't... actually do that. I mean, yeah, dream and all. -- but fuck, that's like... the future and it's not going to... Fuck." Ze just keeps climbing until ze is ten feet up.

Playing defense has it's downsides, among them catching a fist to the teeth. But Daken takes it in stride, his split lips knitting back together before he has time to even notice it. "We're working to stop that future, and they obviously were being forced to work at that camp." He looks back at Rasa, "She's pissed, and can fly. You might have messed up by climbing."

"Preventing the future is -exactly- what I'm doing right now," Anette says, sliding her coat off and barely giving her wings time to stretch before she's airbone, away from Daken and headed straight towards Rasa. She grips the back of the other's clothes and pulls her away from the wall and dropping hir back to the ground.

Rasa doesn't bother trying to stay affixed to the wall. Instead, ze draws close to it when grabbed and leaps back against the woman behind hir, growling and snarling. Hir voice grows deeper as ze starts to grow, muscles flexing and bulging as ze turns from a slim teenager into a large and strangely green beast with large teeth and claws, hir clothing starting to rip during the transformation. While ze drops, ze reaches out and grasps for Anette, trying to drag her down, too. "Don't tell me you're fixing the future."

"When we become our enemy we lose ourselves." Daken calls out, watching warily. Once Rasa starts to transform he swears and releases all six of his claws with an audible Snikt. His tone grows harsher and his expression becomes visibly angrier, "Alright, you need to calm down!"

Anette clearly did not see the Hulking out coming as she pauses momentarily in the air, snapping out of her shock too late to avoid being pulled to the ground. Her wings slow the fall enough to avoid any serious injury but she still lands with a grunt. "You...can't be trusted. You would betray your own. You held my child like a lab rat and killed me!" Anette growls, getting back on her knees and rising once again, apparently not intimidated by Rasa's new appearance much. She doesn't know who exactly Daken is talking to but she frankly doesn't care, stretching out her talons much like he stretched out his claws as she approaches Rasa again, wings spread and ready for attack.

Rasa drops to the ground on all fours, ignoring pain, if there is any. Ze keeps large yellow eyes locked on the form of Anette as she drops to the ground as well, a slow snarl still in hir throat. Claws rake against the ground, staying low, but on hir hind feet, head half turned between Anette and Daken, not moving for the attack. "I would?" There's a laugh deep in that throat of hirs, mingling with a growl. "That was not me. THAT was a thing I could become - and don't you dare presume you know why that person did ANYTHING. Waltzing into hir domain, threatening hir work..." The growl lowers as the words stop. "That... wasn't me."

Daken heads towards the pair now. "Anette, you went to that school. You've met the Wolverine. One thing they say that's true.. Like father, like son. Now stand down, you need to listen to reason." He stops between the pair again. "None of that happened, not yet. The only thing that was real were the emotions you felt during the dreams, we have more than a few of the brightest minds from the mutant and human community working on stopping that possibility. Ze hasn't committed a crime yet. There's a very good possibility it might not even happen."

Anette stands still though still ready for attack, glancing between Daken and Rasa in disbelief and anger, breathing heavily. "There is NO good reason for what ze did! There's no -reason- you can possibly say, either of you, that will justify everything." She turns her head to look to Daken, narrowing her eyes. "It -happened-. I don't care how you put it. I saw it, I felt it, I lived through it, it happened! Are you honestly going to let the person who killed me just go on with their lives as if they did nothing wrong? You were there!"

"You... know him?" Rasa straightens up, looking over Daken for a moment before casting a glance back at Anette. "Are you dead? You look pretty damn life-ful to me." The green starts to creep back under hir skin, the height and build remain a while longer. Hir hands remain tense and large, the fingers curling and flexing as ze keeps hir distance.

Daken looks back at Rasa, "Logan? He's my father. Never met him though." His attention shifts back to Anette and he lets his claws retract, "You're gonna have to hold off on being pissed, I might not have to wait a hundred more years to find out about my dad after all."

Anette shakes her head. "This is so...is this how it's going to be? Everyone else just wakes up from those dreams and moves on and I'm stuck reliving them? Everyone who ruined my lives, future and present, just get to say oops and that's it? I don't think so." Anette screeches again, lunging towards Rasa, talons out, ready to gouge whatever she can.

Rasa is ready this time, reaching out when Anette lunges. The hand aimed for her face retracts as the other arm forcibly collides with Anette's, driving them away. Ze follows it with a knee to Anette's gut, one hand fixing on her shoulder, grabbing a wad of her shirt in hir grasp, claws leaving their mark underneath. "You think you're the only one with nightmares?" There's a hum of thought where hir skin touches the other woman's, a deep something just below the surface. That angry something practically vibrates in Anette's mind, but the teen continues to hold back. "That... is what... shrinks... are for." Hir free hand grips Anette's wrist when it finds purchase, the telepath's gifts staying locked up for the time being.

Daken brings a hand up to pinch at the bridge of his nose. "Anette, I'm going to ask you one more time to calm the fuck down." He sounds even more annoyed now. "I thought my real father was dead for thirty years. Thirty years Anette, it's been thirty-eight years since I found out he was alive. Nobody I've met wanted to talk about him, you can hold off acting like me long enough for me to find out what kind of person he really is." It doesn't sound like he's giving her an option. "I don't care if you have to go ahead and head back to the apartment without me."

Anette cries out in pain as Anette is kneed in the stomach, falling on her knees and coughing loudly for air. She angrily struggles against Rasa's hold, moreso against the psychic link that's been established than anything physical. "You don't...get to tell me...what's best," she growls before raising her voice for Daken's sake. "I'm not stopping until ze bleeds, Daken." Acting on that threat, she raises her free hand in another desperate attempt to claw at Rasa.

"Fuck. Don't you just hate how some people can be so dismissive?" Rasa bites in Daken's direction before looking down at Anette. "You want to give me your nightmare? Huh? You want me to suffer like you have?" Those yellow eyes fix on Anette's face, studying her and waiting, letting her claw at hir arms as much as she likes in the time being. "Just... Think of it and give it to me."

"Telepath?" Daken asks with a raised brow, moving over just in case things get nasty. "If you can end this without violence, do it." He advises Anette. "If ze had Logan teaching zir combat, it'll be like going up against me. And I really don't want to make another unnecessary enemy."

The damage Anette inflicts to Rasa's arm doesn't seem to satisfy her as much as she wants it to but, realize she's in a tough position, slumps down in (a very tense) submission. However, the suggestion of passing her dreams and emotions on to Rasa is met not with a open but a closed one, a very basic mental wall created to keep Rasa out of her mind. "No, stay away from those. They're mine and mine alone," she says firmly.

Rasa heaves Anette's arm away and steps back, glowering. "I can't help you." Pain and anger flash through hir eyes as ze turns away, presenting hir back to the angry woman, hands closing into fists as ze starts to move away.

Daken heads over towards Rasa, tugging his hoodie off and offering it to the teen. "Seriously though.. Whatever you could tell me about Logan would be much appreciated. As of right now I just know he's damn near two-hundred and if you think I'm lying I /am/ willing to volunteer my brain for picking."

Anette slowly rises and tenderly rubs at her shoulder where Rasa had digged in, pulling her hand away to examine the blood briefly. Quietly, she watches Daken approach Rasa about Logan, keeping to herself for a moment until it seems Daken is completely occupied with the other person before making her way over to wear she dropped her coat. She picks it up and tenderly slips it over her rainsoaked form.

"Dude, I get it, you seriously need to know about Logan. If I agree to talk to you later, will you take care of your friend? For fuck's sake, she's hurting like mad and she can't feel better about this." Rasa offers Daken an icy glare, shrinking back down to hir average size, moving away to find hir skirt to wrap around hirself. "I'm not telling you jack or shit until you help her out."

"I have every intention of it, I honestly feel like a traitor for stopping her." Daken reaches up to rub at his neck, "Guess I'm a shitty boyfriend for wanting her to stop trying to kill people that fucked us over in the future dreams." His attention shifts towards Anette and a genuine frown tugs at his features. "Usually have a card to pass out, but I don't have any pockets. If you've been to the school recently, I gave Jack, the invisble one, my card." He turns to head back over to Anette now, "/I'm sorry./" he says quietly in Japanese.

"Just...stop," Anette says, turning around to face Daken. "Right where you are, just stop." She rubs at her face, taking a deep breath before she speaks again. "I'm done. There, you found someone who knows your father. You don't need me anymore. I'm just a fucked up, psychotic mess and I'm only going to ruin your life, if I don't die of an overdose before then. So have fun meeting your father. I hope it works out." She turns away again and walks off.

"Yeah, well, I can talk to you about him, but I can't introduce you to him. He's left. Gone. He may come back. I don't know." Rasa stares down at hir bleeding arms and shakes hir head. "No one walks away from this clean."

"I know, I lost sight of what's important to me." Daken says with a quiet sigh, still following behind Anette. "I'd rather not meet him if it means losing you. Shit, as much as you don't want me to say it, I do love you Anette. If I didn't give a shit I wouldn't have any problem letting you kill whoever or do whatever drugs you want." After he's said his piece he turns to throw a salute towards Rasa, "If I had to guess he's either up in Canada, in Madripoor, or visiting where I grew up. He always finds his way back to Japan, regardless of what he does and doesn't remember. I'll have to make a point to visit the school and ask around, assuming they don't kill me for trying."

"OH, shut up and focus on your girlfriend." Grumpily, Rasa staggers back to hir flip flops and heads back into the Evolve Cafe.

"Seriously, stop. Go...go home. Go get drunk. Go sleep with Rasa, I don't care." Anette yells this over her shoulder as Daken follows her, though she freezes in her tracks once Daken says the 'L' word. She slowly turns out, her eyes wide though it's not quite as angry as before. More fearful. "No...just no. You don't get to say that. Not now. Just leave. Go to Japan, find your father, and...kill him, love him. I don't care anymore."

Daken freezes and clenches his fists. "Fine, yeah." It's extremely obvious for a moment just how hurt he is, but it's quickly covered up and he turns to head back down the alley he came from.
