<XS> Music Room - FL2

Wide and spacious, seating in this soundproofed room comes largely on the sweep of gentle risers that afford the teacher an easy view of all the budding performers, and add another dimension to the acoustics of the room. Instruments of all types are carefully stored around the room, and a grand piano, immaculately upkept, takes the position of prize near the back. In a nod to the eclectic studies of the students, digital mixing equipment and turntables rub shoulders with the classical instruments. Music stands sit in front of most of the seats, and the only windows look out out over the side of the school grounds.

It's late in the evening on a Wednesday and undoubtedly the school has been /rife/ with silly pranks all day, given the date. At the moment there's no silliness going on in the music room -- just music! It's a cheerful-playful trill of a piece, at the moment, coming from the electric violin Shane has tucked beneath his chin (it looks /very/ unlike a traditional instrument, with an odd half-body design that looks more like a stylized /sketch/ of a violin, black with blue accents. The instrument is hooked into Shane's laptop right now, as well as his amps, computer dutifully recording everything he plays. The boy himself -- kind of matches his instrument! Blue skin, black-on-black-on-black outfit (neat-pressed slacks, neat-tailored vest, crisp button-down with mandarin collar), barefoot at the moment. His gills flutter against the sides of his neck, eyes closed as he loses himself in the current piece, an original composition still in the process of /being/ composed.

Late night, on April fool's day? Hailey has been all over the school already. trip ups, pants coming down, missing belts, missing backpacks, things in weird places, faces coming from nowhere, she's been having a blast. It's taken a toll on her sides though so she finds her way into the music room to chill out. She has her own violin stored there. An electric model with a resonance modulator for classical output. She opens the door and grins seeing another person. She can't help it. With a flick of her eyes, a shadow darts from the computer, growing longer and longer, carefully...careully....carefully before. Tweak! the D string is loosened in a quick turn, the shadow receding rapidly.

Ghost isn't much one for pranking. She's a /professional/. Also, stuff with school has kept her busy today! Heading into the music room, her eyes first are heading towards the instrument containers...before she spots the darting shadow. A short grimace on her face, as she walks over to the containers, before she speaks. "That's not cool, don't mess with other people's instruments. That's behind rude.". She's removing a guitar (pure acoustic, purple front, same tone as her skin, with black flames), as she speaks again. "You guys hear about that Doctor Strange dude? Caught something on the news, apparently he's been talking about how in a few years the whole world's going to go to shit or something, like an apocalypse. Dude's like a nut."

Ghost is wearing a black tanktop, a pair of black jeans, and is barefoot, as usual, even though she doesn't actually require it anymore, she's gotten used to it.

Shane's gills flutter as the doors open, head tilting just slightly to sniff at the air by way of identification, but he doesn't bother opening his eyes. Not until all of a sudden his playing sounds /off/; at first he backs up a few measures to retry as though the mistake was his own but when Ghost speaks he opens his eyes, grimacing and lowering his bow. "What the /fuck/." Sharp irritation is in his tone. "Asshole. I was actually getting it /right/ that time." The irritation smoothes over as he looks at Ghost, annoyance replaced by a warm-friendly smile. "Heyyy. Done any exciting /heroing/ lately -- huh what Strange?" Blink, blink, blink. "... someone's name is /actually/ Doctor Strange what the hell. I don't know if that's awesome or terrible. What kind of apocalypse are we going to have, /tell/ me it's not zombies again."

Hailey chuckles a bit as she runs her hands through her now quite long hair. "Hmmm sorry, April fools babe, shoudln't have your eyes closed when you do a measure that takes concentration like that.

She finds a place to kick back, putting up her large boots as she forms her own shadow into a chain, whipping it towards her case to bring it back like a winch. "Tch, Doctor Strange? Sounds like some weirdo already. But yeah I heard he was the worlds top psuchic or some shit then he went crazy babbling about the end of the world and junk. I think he means biblical. All those crazies do. " She nods as she lazily opens her case to show her flame shaped solid body white violin.

Ghost just shakes her head at Hailey. "Still not cool. April Fool is about harmless stuff, not shit like this.". And then, a bright smile at Shane. "Oh man I did that mission with that guy, and that guy with that thing, an-. Okay no I, haven't gotten any heroing done it's just training. Much more than normal Danger Room stuff, too. I haven't even worn the uniform outside of school.". Ghost shrugs, as she slowly strums her guitar. "Yeah, dude's like a new age guru. Doctor Stephen Strange. As far as I'm aware I don't..think he's a real doctor.". Ghost shakes her head towards Hailey. "Don't think he's one of the religious guys.".

"Or maybe you shouldn't be a fucking /tool/," Shane answers Hailey irritably, "Jesus Christ, you've been here a year and you're /still/ just as self-centered as when I first met you. I've been working on this piece for -- it's not /easy/ --" He shakes his head, retuning the violin with a scowl. His gills flutter rapidly, still, and he is quiet until he has gotten the string correctly tightened again. "I think that's kinda good in a way," he adds to Ghost, more warmly. "Maybe no heroing means things are going /good/ for once. I think ideally you'd want to never have a single person to rescue."

He crouches down in front of his computer, teeth pressing lightly against his lower lip as he reviews the piece he's been working on. "What, so he just /calls/ himself a doctor? A doctor of what, peddling snake-oil? Is his name even actually /Strange/?" He tips his black eyes up to Ghost, curious. "OK so a secular whackjob. Are we going to have nuclear holocaust? Floods? Plague of locusts? Is Yellowstone erupting? That's /my/ favourite apocalypse-scenario."

Hailey chuckles a little bit. "Yeah sorry dude, I owe ya something. " She yawns and thinks a little bit. "Hmm his name is strange even if it isn't." She grins a bit before finishing her own tuning. "Hmmm do you know Time's Scar? Or maybe Nocturne op. 9?" She looks around a little as she thinks. "That dude is just trying to get publicity, i bet this all leads up to him releasing a book on how to survive the apocalypse. *survive the end of the world! Buy my book! only $19.99~~ isn't salvation worth it! buy it today get a free knife sharpener!" She snickers a bit as she does a quick string check.

"Got a point. Unless the world is ending, /then/ I get to wear the uniform. Two years!". Ghost chuckles a bit, before shaking her head. "That's the thing, he hasn't said what it was. Most of these crazies do, guess he's waiting for like a press conference. He just says it would be terrible. Don't know about his name, they don't talk about that.". Ghost strums a bit more on her guitar, not playing anything at the moment. "What if it's a nuclear plague of locusts erupting out of a flooded Yellowstone?"

"The fuck is Time's Scar." Shane is returning his bow to his violin, starting to play again -- not an original composition, this time Kreisler's lively /Tambourin Chinois/. His eyes fix on the others, still, his playing almost unthinking, bow dancing with a skilled ease over the strings. He stops halfway into the piece, though, tipping his head to listen to Ghost's absent strumming. He starts to play once more, this time just improvising, a quiet melody to complement Ghost's aimless strum. "Could do with a knife sharpener. Oh /man/ is there going to /be/ an apocalypse press conference? You wanna watch it with me, Ghost?" His eyes light at her apocalypse suggestion. "-- Tell my Pa to program that for you, I bet he'd /do/ it you could have /that/ monster-apocalypse in the DR."

Hailey grins a little bit as she waves a hand. "I wonder if I could possibly make a violin out of shadows...think that would sell tickets? it would have to be a dark concert..." She mumbles a bit before nodding a little bit. "hehe, I'd want to attend to see the dude make his allegations, then be outside with T-shirts showing something like "I survived the strange-pocalypse!" She smirks a little and laughs, slowly doing an improvised flourish of nocturne's melody to match theirs as a background air or so she thinks, really giving a scratchy rendition of something somewhat close to music..

"It's hard for us when we can't hide, I don't think you should be doing power gimmicks if you want to sell tickets. I doubt Ryan Black uses his powers in his concerts..actually I've never seen one of his concerts are they /awesome/?". This last question from Ghost is to Shane, a grin on her face, before laughing. "Oh man that is totally an important thing to learn I'll ask Jax next training for when the 'Strangepocalypse' comes. Don't know about any press conferences yet but I'm not ruling it out, I'd totally watch it with you. Bet the dude would get like, a billion views." And then Ghost is kind of..flinching at Hailey's playing. "That's..kind of out of tune. Kind of.". And then she's resuming her mindless strumming, having no idea what to play.

"I think playing well will sell tickets." Shane grimaces a the idea of a shadow-violin concert, closing his eyes once more. His /grin/ returns huge and toothy-bright, though. "Oh /man/. Oh man his concerts are /amazing/. He's /fantastic/ on stage, there's this /energy/ like you have no fucking clue and he's /brilliant/ with -- and Jesus Christ I swear just listening to his voice makes me hard." Shane: master of always being Totally Appropriate. "-- Wait, did he actually give a date for this supposed apocalypse? I should prepare. Write some apocalypse-music, maybe." His playing continues through Ghost's mindless strumming, still harmonizing with her aimlessness, the notes of the violin dancing lightly together with the chords. "Awesome. Apoca-press-conference. S'a /date/."

Hailey chuckles "Ah...nice to know what I need to give you on youir wedding day." She rolls her eyes before putting the violin away. She looks down and moves to find a half way decent shadow. She takes her time to form a violin, her tongue sticking out as her fingers ministrate the form and body.. She picks it up and geats ready to play before.... an odd screch smooth, resonance sound is heard from her direction. "Hmmm...nope, can't make one." She snickers and lets it dissipate, her skin a bit more pale as eh kicks back. "It's gonna be fun if there is an apocalypse. Maybe I'll sneak out to fight with the X guys.

Ghost blinks. "What does 'a date' have to do with getting married? Even in joking those don't move on to each other.". At Shane's description of Ryan, Ghost laughs. "Sound hot. Totally gotta catch a concert. No date for the apocalypse, about a year or two though. Should write in advance and just practice every day until apocalypse. And then no one else can beat you out for Apocalypse-side shows.".

"Actually, if there's an apocalypse, I'll doubt we'll be fighting, atleast primarily. More likely getting people to safety. And I definitely doubt we'll be..letting anyone fight with us we're supposed to be protecting people. I'm not even fighty I'll probably be climbing through windows and pulling people out of nuclear locust-infested buildings.".

Shane watches Hailey's shadow-violin forming, head tilting in clear curiosity, but the sound it produces jus makes him shiver. "You want to go with me next time he's playing in town?" he asks Ghost brightly. "It's been a /while/ since anyone tried killing him, it's probably safe." Prooobably. His sharp grin makes it /seem/ like this is a joke, but you never know. The grin fades at Hailey's words, again. "... Apocalypse. Fun. Jesus, something is wrong in your damn head. The last apocalypse we had was just hell."

Hailey clicks her tongue a little bit. "Aww come on, they teach us to use our abilities then aw can't combat a menace?" She frowns. "That's like saying we can't take out bank robbers if we see them robbing a bank." She rolls her shoulders a bit. "I mean I can make my shadows into chains, bullets, and other cool stuff, even armor to protect myself but I gotta just use my shadow walking to get people from buildings and stuff?

"No, we can't. Our training is so we know how to control our abilities so /they're/ not a menace, not to fight menaces. And..no we can't fight bank robbers, vigilantism is illegal. I think we'd get arrested just for using our mutant powers in public.". Ghost frowns, before lighting up in a grin at Shane. "Definitely. It's..another date apparently.". A small laugh from Ghost, as she actually begins playing something. Nothing famous, just some sort of tune that's come to her head. "Public still hates us. Doubt that'll ever change. We just gotta keep proving, that we're better than them."

Shane continues /his/ improvised playing, still making up an easy complement to Ghost's guitar as she changes songs. He stops after a moment, though, leaning down to put his violin away and lock its case, shutting his computer as well. "-- Something is /definitely/ wrong in your fucking head. /Yes/," he says to Hailey, "you 'just' use your shadow walking to /save lives/. Sorry that's not enough for you and you /want/ to fight. That attitude pretty much ensures they'll never let you, though. You don't get into it for the /thrill/, there's nothing fucking /glamorous/ about this shit. The number of people I've watched die -- the number of times I've seen my /dad/ blown half to /death/ doing this crap --" He shakes his head quickly, gills fluttering rapidly as he starts for the door, offering Ghost a quick smile in passing. "Awesome. Another date. Look forward to it." And then he's heading out the door with his things.
