"Heh, you might be surprised."

Location

<NYC> Washington Square Park - Greenwich Village

Behind a majestic white marble arch, a smaller cousin of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, this beautiful green space is a popular destination for the young, the hip, and the artistic. A huge circular wading fountain is the centerpiece, ringed by benches, playgrounds, dog runs, gaming tables, and lush green lawns. In fair weather, the park is almost always crowded with tourists, students, chess enthusiasts, and local families come to tire out their children and dogs.

It's cool out today, but that's not stopping locals and visitors alike from enjoying the park, and the afternoon crowd looks almost like it would have in pre-pandemic times now. Skye is wearing a lightweight black hip-length coat open over a ruffled pink blouse, gray and pink plaid skirt, black tights, and grey knee-high suede boots. Her black hair is neatly combed and tied back in a single thick braid, and she's carrying a half-eaten bagel sandwich in one hand. "Wanna hit up the Batcave after we finish these? It's a nice day but I'm always down to own some kids at Overwatch." Though a beat later she adds. "Or get owned by some kids, I'm easy."

Dusk certainly looks like he's down to hit the Batcave; his huge black wings (deep crimson on their insides) briefly stretching behind him before he folds them back close against his shoulders. He's otherwise unremarkable -- brown corduroys, a plain green tee under a red and black hoodie, large sunglasses. He's makes on a bagel of his own, spread with cream cheese and lox; though his is barely touched, the bites he takes small. "Could be down to watch you own some kids. I think my energy today is about -- sitting-around speed."

Blake would be sitting atop of an electric green Transition downhill bicycle, as he pedaled his way through the park. He was dressed in a pair of black overalls that fastened at the front near his waist, under the suspenders he styled a maroon T-shirt that traveled down within the overals. His dreaded hair tied back into a small ponytail that swayed in the wind, while pair of slightly faded yellow vans pedaled him to his destination. Currently running late to work, Blake had to make it through the park and to the Vinyl shop loacted on waverly place. He already had enough pressure on himself as is with the courses he was taking, but he needed the extra income and he wasnt one for asking his parents for a raise. While most where enjoying the of the park Blake was trying his best to escape it. While he rushed his mind began to wonder.

Skye slows down just a fraction to let the green bike cut in front of them, otherwise ignoring it as another pedestrian hazard. "I mean, if you'd enjoy that right now, I will do my best to provide an entertaining match!" She flashes Dusk a sidelong smile. "But also we could just go back to your place and binge something." She bumps his arm lightly with her shoulder. "I wanna hang out but we don't have to hang out out."

"Not my place." Dusk answers this a little too fast, and his cheeks flushing slightly as he takes another small bite of his food. "Out is good. More room to stretch, anyway. Apartment's starting to feel real --" The red in his cheeks deepens as he finishes, with a bit of a sheepish glance at Skye. "... small. Uh. Not that I have room to complain about that."

'Seriously? you havent even been a mutant long and your already putitng yourself into harms way? stupid! stupid blake!' the monologue would run inside his mind as he traveled. 'If i just kept my big mout shu-' the thought in his mind would come to a quick end as his hands began to tremour causing his stirring of the bicycle to fail him. As Skye stepped aside he would pass by her with a fearful look before he managed to squeeze the front brakes of his bike stopping the vehicle instantly, as for his body, it would continue to stay in motion. Blakes body would flail as he flipped over his front handlebars quickly. He would hit the ground seemingly hard, much harder then any normal human. The ground around him would shake as he landed, as if the tremors his body had created where transfered into another meduim, the ground for instance. The rattle stopped as instantly as it appeared.

"Sorry," Skye says though she doesn't sound all that bothered by her error, "I figured your littlest roommate might have made it to school by now. Out is fine." She smiles bright. "Oh! I didn't mention, but I might be moving into mom's place this winter. She won't stop fretting --" Her eyes go huge as the cyclist who just passed them flips over his handlebars and goes flying. "Shit!" she says, covering her mouth, but only freezes for an instant. Then she's running over to where the young man landed. "Shit! Man, are you ok?!"

"Shit, that was an impressive dive." One of Dusk's enormous wings has started to stretch toward Blake where he lies on the ground, but pulls back before actually reaching. He folds his wings back smaller, glancing to Skye at the brief tremor -- only quickly, attention returning to Blake when the shaking ends as soon as it began. "You good?"

Blake would wince before he would sit up, both Skye and Dusk could see the boy had a injury on his forhead from the way that he had landed. It was a small knot paired with a busted lip and broken glasses. It didn take long for both of them to realize the boy was dazzed. if Skye were to touch his body, she would notice his body was still slightly vibrating at a strange rate however it wasnt noticeable by sight.

"That wasn't me," Skye says aside to Dusk, very quiet, when he glances at her. She breathes a sigh of relief when Blake sits up on his own, but does not touch him, though she does sink down to one knee. "Sorry if I spooked you there, buddy. I scare myself sometimes when I haven't put on a proper face." Her tone is light, but her shoulders are tense. "You gonna be alright?"

Dusk hangs back a few steps, the bagel forgotten in one hand. "Hit your head pretty bad. You needa call someone for that, or --?" One of his wings lifts in a small shrug, its long thumbclaw gesturing towards Blake's forehead.

he would groan "Thanks for the concern but....i dont have anyone to call" he admitted to Dusk as he would turn looking to Skye. he wasnt sure of who she was but he definitly couldnt make out her face through the broken glasses. he took them off looking to her as he nodded his head gently. he would begin trying to get to his feet as he stuggled stopping and taking multiple breaths. "havent been in newyork for to long but.....i dont think their parks spin like this" he said before reaching for and holding his forehead as he winced again "eh, my head really hurts"

As he made the last comment about his head the vibrations increased. They amplified more and more as the ground around them would begin to rattle. It soon felt like this section of the park had succumb to a miniature earthquake. Blake felt this as he started to look around worried “No no no no no” he said watching as this stretched him out more. The boy would go back to the ground on both his knees as he gripped the side of his head “1...2...3...” he would start to count to himself as he tried to calm down.

Skye sucks a breath in through her teeth and braces her hand against the ground. The shaking subsides, though Blake may be able to sense that she's not actually making it stop so much as canceling it out with a complementary wave. "Take it easy," she says, her voice slightly strained with concentration. "Don't need to get up just yet, maybe sit a minute, ok? I got this."

Dusk takes another step back, at the shaking. Carefully starts to fold his bagel back into its wrapper. He's looking away from Blake, now, reflexively taking stock of the other people (some alarmed, most confused) around them; as yet nobody seems to have localized the source of the tremors, but there's a new vigilance in his bearing all the same.

He would turn to her as he would have watery eyes. Truth was Blake hadn’t been a mutant very long. His abilities manifesting only a year before. The vibrations continued as Blake stared to her though she could feel then slowly weakening. Blake wasn’t sure how to just turn it off or even how to turn it on but it had never reacted at this rate before.

“Wait, who are you?” He asked shocked by the fact that she had similar abilities his own. “I didn’t think there was my one out there like me” he said gently as the tremors cane to a stop altogether. Blake would state as looked to Skye rather confused.

"Heh, you might be surprised," Skye says. "There's a lot of us in New York. I could barely control this, before I came here and met some folks willing to help." She suddenly blushes, lowers her voice. "Not that I'm trying to say you can't control yours, maybe you do fine when you haven't just. You know. Hit your head."

"Nah, you're in good company. Even Ryan Black used to just shake things the hell apart before he got practiced." Dusk isn't coming any closer, still watching the rest of the park more than Blake. "D'you need to get that looked at? Head injuries can fuck you up."

He would look to them as he would finally get to his feet. He listened to them speak “Ryan black? Your serious?” He questioned as he would wince a bit before he would nod “yeah, I think I probably should get it looked at but I can’t right now. I’d lose my job and we’ll im new here” he said as he looked down to his feet “Actually I’m new to all this.....everything started changing about a year ago and I haven’t got a grip on my ability or my personal life....” he looked to Skye “What you did was amazing, I don’t think I’ll ever have that much control over my abilities”

"Way serious," Skye says with a friendly smile, settling back on her heels. "He taught me a lot of this, actually." She frowns. "I'm sorry. Fuck bosses, man. If you're still feeling out of wack later, especially if you're still shakey? Might be worth making the trek down to Mendel Clinic on the Lower East Side. They're used to dealing with powers." She rises and wheels Blake's bike over to him. "I'm not a doctor, but you might wanna walk this bad boy wherever your'e going. And if you wanna talk powers..." Her hand turns over, producing a business card she'd palmed somewhere along the way (the name reads only "Skye" and the only information is a protonmail address). "...hit me up, alright?"

"Think a lot of people felt like that at first. Takes practice, like any skill." Dusk winces, his head bowing. "Yeah, that's fucking shitty. Gotta eat, though, yeah? I hope the rest of your day goes a little smoother."

He would look to them both as he would give a grin before nodding his head up and down.
