|
| Feel free to populate this list with recurring NPCs; make note of their general appearance, personality, mutations (if they have one), and any relevant details that people should know if they want to make use of them! If they are a char that would be known but is restricted-use (i.e., a character's family member!), place an asterisk by their name so people know not to play them in a scene; any NPCs that are NOT restricted-use are considered to be free for anyone to utilize in a scene.
| | If one of their profiles catches your interest, feel free to contact the player(s) listed and talk over the possibility of making them your own! Please note that expressing interest in a character here does not guarantee that you will get to play them! It is at the full discretion of the players listed as to whether any given individual is a good fit to submit an application for their NPCs, and adoptable NPCs must still lgo through the regular application process. |
|
| |
|
| Most (but not all) NPCs listed here are also considered adoptable! Please make sure to note if there is someone specific to contact, should someone be interested in playing them as a PC; otherwise, talk to staff about adopting NPCs.
| | If you would like to add an NPC of your own here to be adopted, feel free to list their profile! Please include their name, rough age and a brief profile (think about including relevant personality, background or cultural information, powers if applicable), any faction connections they may have, any specific relationships they might have with existing PCs, and your Discord name for contact info. |

| ====Alec====
| |
| Alex Seymour. Tall and dark-haired and blue-eyed, classically handsome, tends to be impeccably groomed and meticulously well-dressed. Alec is a senior guard on the security staff at the Mendel Clinic and boy is he cranky about having to actually work for a living. Comes from a fantastically wealthy family of British aristocrats, but they weren't very pleased about having a mutant in the family. He tends to not talk about his past much -- actually, he doesn't really talk much, which together with his bearing and attire gives most people the impression that he's incredibly stuck-up. His power is a subtle one, a kind of psionic field of illusion that he can use to make people see more or less whatever commonplace thing they're expecting to see, rendering anyone in his field not invisible so much as entirely forgettable; it comes in handy as a bodyguard since when he's around nobody even notices that his charges exist.
| |
|
| |
| ====Brett====
| |
| Brett Jardine. Fourteen years old, also got dumped at Xavier's after his family was unlocatable once he was broken out of a Prometheus lab. He is very noticeably silver. His body is made out of some sort of metallic substance. Sometimes he melts down into a liquid. He is also diabetic, which has proven difficult to manage when his blood sugar can't ever be tested. Nobody's even sure if he has blood. Mutant biology is complicated.
| |
|
| |
| ====Caliban====
| |
| Morlock. Probably has an OKCupid account. Well meaning, but may be in danger of falling in with the Wrong Internet Crowd; the time to worry is if he starts wearing a fedora. Probably has a crush on Lily. His power lets him detect and track mutants in his vicinity.
| |
|
| |
| ====Callisto====
| |
| Former Queen of the Morlocks during a brief "STRONGEST IS BEST" phase. For a few months, the growing militancy and mandatory mutilation policy drove many Morlocks away, until Tatters arrived on the scene and promptly defeated Callisto in single combat, and just as promptly declared that the Morlocks were now an anarcho-syndicalist commune.
| |
|
| |
| Unfortunately, Callisto was injured in the battle and called upon Masque to heal her. Out of malice and an attempt to curry favor with her successor, Masque further crippled her instead; when he refused to revert the damage, he was promptly told to GTFO. He's probably still lurking around somewhere, plotting revenge.
| |
|
| |
| Now that the wheelchair-bound Callisto is no longer an aspiring warlord, she's actually beginning to grow into a competent administrator. Where she once used her tactical intuition exclusively to win fights, she's been slowly learning to apply it to the broader end of untangling logistical issued and arbitrating interpersonal conflicts, and her success is starting to bring her out of what had been a serious post-duel funk. And while she and Tatters regularly butt heads, neither has the patience or inclination for complicated political maneuvering, so they mostly just argue a lot.
| |
|
| |
| :*Powers: Callisto enhanced senses and reflexes, and a Tactical Intuition that helps her approach conflicts in the most optimum way. It's unclear whether this is a low-level precognitive power, an analytic extension of her augmented senses, or a combination of both.
| |
|
| |
| ====Carnage====
| |
| Carnage. Bloodmonster. Widely presumed dead.
| |
|
| |
| ====Clarice====
| |
| Probably somewhere in her late 20s, Clarice is an ex-Promethean labrat who now lives with Ryan and Liam and Horus at Village Lofts. Lithe and lean and wiry, she is a tall woman with a rangy-athletic build. Sharp. Sharp-witted, sharp-tongued, sharp mind; she's brusque and gruff and every bit as prickly as her mutation. Very noticeably a mutant, she sports a long set of porcupine-like quills in lieu of hair on her head, shorter but no less sharp quills running down her back and the backs of her arms.
| |
|
| |
| ====Coulson====
| |
| Phil Coulson. Senior agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. and trusted advisor to Nick Fury. Friendly and well-liked at the organization, he makes a good foil to the less approachable Director. He is currently supervising officer to Steve Rogers and a giant fan of Captain America.
| |
|
| |
| ====Eli====
| |
| Elijah Renfrew. In his early twenties. Shaggy brown hair, dark blue eyes, tall and thin with angular features. Elijah worked as an EMT, first for an ambulance company out in Denver but later, after his capture and subsequent rescue from a lab in Pennsylvania and re-assimilation into life, for the city of New York. Used to live with Halim and Joshua. Quiet and thoughtful, his calm exterior masked a whole lot of passion. Anger, mostly. His mutation was recharging other people. Sort of like a human battery. Being around him made people feel more refreshed and revitalized. With mutants, he let them use /their/ powers far longer than they'd otherwise be able to. Elijah was killed during the March 2013 raid. RIP, Elijah.
| |
|
| |
| ====Eloise====
| |
| Eloise Gibson. A sophomore at NYU and previous Xavier's graduate, small and blonde with dark eyes and a whole lot of bubbly cheer. Eloise is a healer, capable of healing even fairly severe injuries, though the more severe the injury, the more it takes out of her. It is fairly open knowledge at XS that Eloise is transgender, though not particularly widespread knowledge in her post-high school life.
| |
|
| |
| ====Fury====
| |
| Colonel Nick Fury. Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. (well, SSR, publicly) and well-known to his subordinates as an uncompromising hardass. It's rumored that he was a protégé of Peggy Carter and an exceptional field agent in his own day. It's also rumored that he still goes into the field...when he trusts no one else to do the job right.
| |
|
| |
| ====Halim====
| |
| Wiry middle eastern man. Might be in his early twenties. Has very little memory of his life prior to his years in the labs. Halim is a very powerful technopath. The constant glut of signal his brain is processing, though, leaves him pretty bad at processing most other things. He's bad at people. Sometimes he forgets things like eating if he's not reminded. Hard to tell if he has friends or not because he treats most of life with the same sort of robotic dispassion. Halim's whereabouts are currently unknown; he was in Promethean custody when the project was shut down.
| |
|
| |
| ====Hope====
| |
| Born January 29, 1997; graduated from Xavier's in June 2016. Tall and bony, dark brown hair, quick smile. She is not actually by default an obvious mutant, though her mutation -- osteokinesis, of herself and others -- lets her fashion all kinds of odd bone formations and through her time at XS she generally /chose/ to be very visible about this even though she could hide if she wanted to. Used to sport extravagantly curling horns and a number of arm spikes. Acerbic, brusque, though nice if you can get past that. Was intermittently dating Taylor until she shed her Freakish exterior for good in order to attend Columbia U.
| |
|
| |
| ====Horus====
| |
| Horus* - Probably in his late teens, though he lacks identification and is not really 100% sure. Was kind of half feral before Prometheus got him, and has not gotten much better socialized since. Is actually quite bright, although most people do not bother to get to know him enough to find that out. Horus looks more bird than human; talons, wings, feathers, narrow beaked face. He did have regular human arms at one point, but they were amputated at some point during his lab stint. Unfortunately for him, he lacks any sort of healing factor. He's just kind of birdy. His mouth and throat are not very well equipped for vocalizing; mostly just for squawking. He used to write a lot, but no arms made that harder. Very sweet, but extremely skittish around strangers. Lives with Ryan in Harbor Commons, and nominally has been attending Xavier's since spring 2014, though his actual attendance has been atrocious.
| |
|
| |
| ====Hua Mei-lan====
| |
| Hua Mei-lan*. Middle-aged owner of the Jin Hua Yuan bookshop in Chinatown, mother to Tag, Tian-shin, and Tian-yi, and husband to the (presumably late) Hua Yong. Lives in an apartment above her shop in Chinatown.
| |
|
| |
| ====Hua Yong====
| |
| Hua Yong*. Middle-aged owner of the Jin Hua Yuan bookshop in Chinatown. Hua and his family immigrated to the US from the People's Republic of China twenty years ago. He rarely works the register at his shop anymore, and the observant may have seen him in the company of notable Triad boss Chen Ling-Yin. He is a mutant with decent command over his telepathic powers, although this is not well-known outside of organized crime circles. He is the father of Tag, although the two have not spoken in many years. He has been missing for over a month and and is broadly presumed dead.
| |
|
| |
| ====Ian====
| |
| Ian Friedan. Was 19. In human form was shortish, skinny, pale, pretty nondescript. He was often not in human form; his mutation made him a living shadow. He was kind of a negative photokinetic, in that he was constantly sucking light from around him and turning it into shadow. It used to be easier for him to retain corporeal form, but Prometheus kind of messed with his head. He couldn't manage more than the barest amount of tangibility in shadow form, but when noncorporeal he did have a low-level telepathy/empathy that he didn't have when he was embodied. Lived with Hive, Flicker, and Dusk in the Village Lofts; he and Dusk had kind of a bromance. Also a pet ferret named Alanna. Undergrad student at Columbia. UNDECLARED. Ian is DEAD, as of the June 2013 hostilities. RIP, Ian.
| |
|
| |
| ====Inès====
| |
| Inès Riera. Born August 22, 1996; graduated Xavier's in June 2015. Dark haired, dark eyed Colombian girl. Mutation: Electrokinesis. Social butterfly. Usually the first to organize all the parties and the first to know all the gossip. Chatty, warm, tends to come off as somewhat flighty but is actually quite bright. Enjoys fencing and theater. Outside of school, lives with her foster-mother Rachel in the Lower East Side.
| |
|
| |
|
| ====J.C.==== | | ====J.C.==== |
| Jessica Casillas. A skinny young woman with generally spikily short-cropped dark hair, yellowish eyes with slitted pupils, small sharp fangs, and a sprinkling of yellow-green scales down her back and the backs of her limbs. J.C. made news after kind of incidentally being broken out of prison by the Brotherhood -- they were really there to break out Thea and just happened to free everyone in the unit as well -- and subsequently triggering a standoff between mutants and law enforcement when a group of mutants tried to give her sanctuary in a church. Since fleeing the chaos at Harlem she has joined up with the Brotherhood, spending most of her time with her newfound Brothers. Can especially often be found in the company of people who know how to sign, as she is Deaf and prefers sign language to spoken language; if she has to resort to lipreading, she does a whole lot better in Spanish than in English. Has been a member of the Mutant Mongrels motorcycle club for several years, now. | | Jessica Casillas. In her mid 20s, A skinny young woman with generally spikily short-cropped dark hair, yellowish eyes with slitted pupils, small sharp fangs, and a sprinkling of yellow-green scales down her back and the backs of her limbs. J.C. made news after kind of incidentally being broken out of prison by the Brotherhood -- they were really there to break out one of their own members and just happened to free adjacent mutants in the unit as well -- and subsequently triggering a standoff between mutants and law enforcement when a group of mutants tried to give her sanctuary in a church. Since fleeing the chaos at Harlem she has joined up with the Brotherhood, spending most of her time with her newfound Brothers. Can especially often be found in the company of people who know how to sign, as she is Deaf and prefers sign language to spoken language; if she has to resort to lipreading, she does a whole lot better in her native Spanish than in English. Non-signers tend to assume she's quiet, retiring, polite; many hearing people have not bothered to get to know the acerbic wit and brash personality that comes across clearly in ASL. Has been a member of the Mutant Mongrels motorcycle club for several years, now. |
| | |
| ====Jane====
| |
| Jane O'Toole* - The head of the Mendel Clinic's security, Jane has a rather vicious personality streak and is famous for being an utter hardass. Still, despite this, she is dedicated to her work and to the people who she considers part of her 'team'. (Talk to Iolaus for details about adopting Jane.)
| |
| | |
| ====Joshua====
| |
| Joshua Martes*. Late twenties. Tan skin, dark hair, dark eyes, average height, athletic. Originally from Arizona, one of many New York transplants after the Pennsylvania jailbreak. Used to live with Eli and Halim. Works as a paramedic. Joshua's ability is power absorption. He can adopt the powers of other mutants he's met. He is capable of utilizing more than one at a time, but his strength with each decreases exponentially with each additional power he 'stores' simultaneously, so after three or so they become relatively ineffectual. Lives with Tag and Mirror in Village Lofts. Doesn't have an excess of free time; in addition to a paramedic's kind of demanding schedule he moonlights as an X-Man.
| |
| | |
| ====Karrie====
| |
| Karrie Matthews. Born June 15, 1996, graduated from Xavier's in June 2016 and headed off to NYU. Skinny little thing, frizzy red hair, green eyes, braces, more freckles than unfreckled skin. Not particularly /shy/, but quiet, often found on the fringes of social groups and never really very integrated with any of them, though she hangs out with the ex-Prometheans more than most. Has a couple good friends, notably Taylor and Daiki, but mostly just a lot of sort-of-friends. Her power is resurrecting the dead, although this is only known to a handful of people. She hates being asked to use it. Was active on the tennis team, excellent at photography. Took a lot of the Yearbook photos though if you ask her nicely she'll show you her more artistic work.
| |
| | |
| ====Khalida====
| |
| Khalida Sa'eed*. A Syrian-American physician on retainer to the al-Jazari family, Khalida has hovered on the fringes of mutant medical research for over a decade now. She is clearly knowledgeable on the subject, but also reluctant to discuss it in any great detail. Recently, she has started volunteering at Common Ground. She still maintains an office in Morningside Heights and is occasionally seen in the company of Isra al-Jazari.
| |
| | |
| ====Leech====
| |
| Sort of a Morlocks Mascot: a cheerful green monstery-looking child. He nullifies other mutant powers within a radius of himself. With effort he can extend this radius; shrinking it to accommodate mutants in his vicinity has proved difficult, but may be possible with better training.
| |
| | |
| ====Liam====
| |
| Biochemist studying for his Ph.D. at Columbia; lives with Clarice, Horus, and Ryan at the Village Lofts. Ex-Promethean turned X-Man and Prometheus raid crew member. Has kind of a big brother/mentor role to Spencer, both in a religious and in a nerdy capacity, as none of the rest of Spence's family practices Judaism and Liam is observant. And also a scientist. Works in the research department at the Mendel Clinic.
| |
| | |
| ====Marieta====
| |
| Marieta Sandler-Rojas. A geneticist with Prometheus; a doctor who knew Rasheed from their med school days together at Johns Hopkins. Warm and friendly, to her colleagues, with a bright curiosity and a tendency to be solicitous of her friends and coworkers. Sees the work they do as having enormous potential to help humanity; has an especial interest in mutants with various healing abilities.
| |
| | |
| ====Matchmaker====
| |
| Joseph Matchmaker Jefferson - A quiet, middle aged man who lives on the fourth floor of the Village Lofts. He's a lawyer. He mostly keeps to himself and doesn't make much of an attempt to socialize with his neighbors, which is probably fair because he seems to be on the phone a lot: he has all sorts of friends and network contacts who keep finding the need to get in touch with him. If he doesn't return their calls, he'll inevitably end up running into them at the supermarket or something. That's just how his life works. Joseph doesn't know it, but he's a mutant: his power is to facilitate networking, manipulating probability to bring himself and the people around him into contact with those who'll be most important to them. It hasn't helped him professionally, because his coworkers keep meeting just the people they need to help jumpstart their careers and clog up the promotion ladder above him -- but it has set a whole gaggle of mutants and mutant sympathizers bouncing off of each other like a citywide billiards game (centered around those hippies who lived down the hall) and that's probably good for something.
| |
| | |
| ====Natalie====
| |
| Natalie Galen. Former barista at the old Evolve Coffeeshop before it blew up, now works as a waitress at Home. Mid 20's. Not a punk. Her purple hair is natural. If asked, she'll say her mutation is making the best coffee anyone's ever had and many of her customers have reason to believe it! Actually, her mutation, aside from the purple hair, is an altered biological clock that keeps her awake for five days and asleep for one. She doesn't find either of these things particularly useful.
| |
| | |
| ====Nightmare====
| |
| Nightmare. A junior member of the Mendel Clinic guard staff, Nightmare doesn't particularly look scary. With very pale skin and a frail frame, he looks more like Oliver Twist than someone who you would put on guard duty - despite the solid black eyes that reflect no light. He is shy, stammers, blushes as much as Jax, and can make people live through their worst nightmares at will. Though it is not publicly linked to him, he is also quite popular as the Twitch streamer "FiveAces", exclusively playing online poker.
| |
| | |
| ====Peace====
| |
| Rafaela "Peace" De La Paz - Californian by upbringing, and still not quite used to New York. Peace's mutation creates small localized explosive bursts. You probably want to stand back when she's having a bad day. Peace is DEAD, as of the March 2013 raid. RIP, Peace.
| |
| | |
| ====Peggy====
| |
| Peggy Carter. Retired SSR agent who still provides training and advisement to S.H.I.E.L.D. Her sole (and minor) claim fame comes from working with Steve Rogers and his Howling Commandos during WWII, but to most who meet her she just seems like a very nice old lady with excellent taste in clothing.
| |
| | |
| ====Rachel====
| |
| Rachel Nievas. Early 30s. Quiet and serious, but warm. Good with kids. Rachel is an RN, and worked as an ER nurse in Arizona until an altercation with a drunk patient revealed the very large black feathery wings she kept bound down under her clothes. Prometheus picked her up during her long stint of unemployment. Is now the head nurse at the Mendel Clinic. Lives with her foster daughter Inès in the Lower East Side.
| |
| | |
| ====Ravenna====
| |
| Ravenna Lucilia. Barista at Evolve Cafe. Short and pleasantly plump, this nineteen-year-old girl is fair skinned, ice blue eyed, and her long, thick hair is probably black naturally though it doesn't stay any one colour for too many days on a stretch. Her style most decidedly leans toward gothy. A former Promethean, she makes an amazing barista with her ability to modify the temperature of any object she touches. Including reheating that luke-warm coffee.
| |
| | |
| ====Reginald====
| |
| Reginald "Reg" Blackwell is a clinic guard and member of Iolaus' bodyguard team. An ex-jock and ex-taxi driver, his tall figure and broad shoulders help deter as many fights as his guard training and short-range teleportation do. Despite his looks, he's a sweetheart on the inside.
| |
| | |
| ====Savita====
| |
| Savita Chavan. Head cook at Xavier's School. Often found around the kitchens. Will probably rap you with a spoon if you try sneaking around while meals are being prepared but also remembers everyone's favorite foods and keeps lots of tasty treats around. Is fully human; her daughter was a mutant who graduated Xavier's years back.
| |
| | |
| ====Simone====
| |
| Simone Bucek. Average height, dark hair, round face. Crisp and cool and professional, Simone is a lab tech at Prometheus. Unlike many of the actual doctors and researchers, she works closely with the test subjects during a lot of experiments. It's kind of hardened her to a lot of things. She's efficient about her work, and keeps to herself a lot outside of it, not going out of her way to get particularly close to any of her fellow workers, either.
| |
| | |
| ====Skeet====
| |
| Skinny homeless kid who frequents the East Village and Lower East Side primarily. Too thin, often twitchy, usually found in many layers of clothing and a large raincoat regardless of weather. Frequents drop-in centers and soup kitchens. Does too much meth. Once shot Jim. Oops.
| |
| | |
| ====Sugar====
| |
| Sugar*. Not so much actually a person as she is a giant rideable-sized metallic blue dragonfly, size and intelligence and longevity enhanced by Thea's powers before her death. She lives, mostly, in the stables at Xavier's, or often in the woods surrounding the school. Though not unfriendly, per se -- by no means hostile -- she is shy and doesn't easily warm up to strangers and definitely doesn't tolerate untrusted people attempting to ride her. In the company of the handful of people she does trust, though, she is much friendlier.
| |
| | |
| ====Sunder====
| |
| He's on the Morlocks' Brute Squad. Well, he is the Brute Squad. He's not the most complicated tool in the shed, but is fiercely loyal to his newfound family. While Tatters and Marrow are often off patrolling the tunnels or running errands, Sunder tends to stay at home, a last line of defense against those who'd harm the Morlocks.
| |
|
| |
| :*Powers: Large size, enhanced strength, stamina, durability. And he's gray. Basically a cave troll.
| |
| | |
| ====Tak====
| |
| Takeshi "Tak" Ji. Barista at Evolve Cafe. Tall, thin, twenty-something young man of Japanese ancestry with mid-length, often asymmetrically cut black hair. A former Promethean, Tak has a finely tuned danger sense that makes it worth paying attention when he starts acting tense or nervous.
| |
| | |
| ====Tian-yi====
| |
| Hua Tian-yi. Younger brother of Tag and Tian-shin. Lives with their mother above the Hua family bookstore Jin Hua Yuan in Chinatown. Splits his time between minding the store and working for the Chen Yu Tong, a criminal organization of some significant influence in the New York Chinese immigrant community.
| |
| | |
| ====Tosh====
| |
| Tosh Nishimura. Dr. Nishimura is a biochemist, working with Prometheus and the U.S. military to try and render their findings into drugs. Not the medicinal kind, but the kind that can augment regular humans' abilities. So far with little success, but that is not discouraging him from trying! Not much discourages him, really; Tosh is a very wired person, energetic, easily excitable, prone to a lot of exuberance. Especially when sciencing. Or not sciencing. Pretty much always, really.
| |
|
| |
|
| ====Troy====
| | Faction connections: Brotherhood of Mutants, Mongrels. |
| Troy Carpenter. An orderly at Prometheus, Troy also works closely with many of the inmates. He does not see them as human and has as much guilt over the whole project as he would if they were experimenting on lab mice. That is to say, okay, sometimes they're adorable and it's a shame they have to die but it's not like they're /people/. And it's for a good cause. Strangely, this makes him more rather than less kind on an individual level to his charges, attempting to make their lives between experiments as easy as possible. He is the orderly most likely to slip them extra food or cookies or smuggle in books and games etc.
| |
|
| |
|
| ====Xavier====
| | Personal connections: Good friends with Dusk, Scramble, Ion. If interested, contact: ideaswithbayonets#8827 on Discord. |
| Charles Xavier. The telepath of telepaths. Also the Headmaster of Xavier's School. Knows if you've been naughty or nice.
| |

J.C.
