Introduction

xxxxx Angry young man, wanted criminal, future terrorist, the best twin brother ever, impatient jerkwad

Description

xxxxx Pietro Maximoff is all angles, from his cheekbones to his shoulders, hips, even his hair. His thick white hair is cut short and tight, just a few locks unruly from the wind or motion. His eyes are a piercing kind of blue, normally narrowed in suspicion or judgement. His build is long and lean, like an Olympic swimmer or track star on a Wheaties box. His legs are a little too long, making him seem unbalanced at first until you understand the nature of his mutation. His clothes are just as sharp as the rest of him. Nothing loose or out of place, clean lines and dark colors that just make his shock of white hair all the more striking. Dressed in a simple clean lined suit or athletic pants and track jacket, he may not be a man of wealth, but at least he has taste. Twitchy, his fingers roll against the pad of this thumb when empty. He naturally bounces a bit in chairs, rocking just so out of habit. His gaze never settles on anything for longer than a moment, but when it does, his eyes are full of disdain.

Reputation

xxxxxWhat (if anything) might others have heard about your character? It's okay if this is 'nothing'. This can also be specific to their faction (maybe they're class clown at their school!) or specific to a niche field (maybe you'd have heard of them if you know a lot about particle physics or cross country skiing, but not otherwise!)

History

xxxxx Two unwanted children were found in the mountains of Eastern Europe by a group of migrant workers looking for new opportunities in the Spring. How they survived the winter, where they came from, they were taken in with hope that the twins were a sign of good luck and a prosperous new family would emerge.

That wasn’t the case. Wanda and Pietro weren’t loved like other children. They were no one’s blood but their own and while they were never left to starve, they would forever seem like outside children. So they made themselves useful; Pietro learned to be smart and savvy, quick to steal some important goods or find a way to endear himself to others to keep him and Wanda fed and content, if not happy.

Being a thief created a greater rift between the twins and the rest of humanity. When Wanda’s newly emerged powers created a scene in Sokovia, Pietro’s newly emerged powers swiftly took them out of danger and on the run as fugitives. Word got out about these misfits and the authorities hunted them down through dark wooded forests and rocky cliffs. When all seemed lost, one man took them in and showed them that Wanda and Pietro had been superior all along.

Learning about mutants and their gifts was a godsend for Pietro; he finally had answers to why they had been poverty stricken wretches since childhood and dove into mutant rights and superiority as a way to adapt to his new life, fit in, and get some dignity back. He was no longer a poor starving child on the streets. He was Quicksilver.

Powers

xxxxx Pietro is the fastest man alive. His entire body is genetically built for speed, from the muscles in his legs, the bone density of his feet, the fluid in his eyes to his internal organs and metabolism. So far, he’s been clocked in at 175 mph and has the average energy reserves to maintain this for up to four hours before Quicksilver needs a break or a snack. This allows him all sorts of tricks with the right amount of timing and momentum (running up the side of a building at a 90 degree angle, plucking an arrow from the air, running across a body of water, creating mini-cyclones by running in circles or spinning, etc). His mind has adapted to process information at rapid speeds so he doesn’t run into walls and can adapt to obstacles quickly; currently, his reaction time is 5 times faster than the average human and reacts quickly to turn on a dime or observe a multitude of things at once while running at high velocity. His leg muscles have undeniable superhuman strength to sustain his speeds (don’t get kicked) but his upper body is still able to catch himself from a great height, carry a few people on a swift sprint and look impressive at a human gym.

Skills

xxxxx Pietro is a liar and a thief. Not the kind of thief that has a guild or takes expensive jewels, but the kind that picks pockets on a crowded street and takes blatantly when no one is looking and he’s fast enough to get away with it. Because he is a liar and a thief, he is also adept at risk/loss management and how to escape from local and international authorities. If anything he’s better at not getting caught than he is at stealing. Self-preservation is key. Pietro is also a fast learner; if the whim strikes him, he can bang on a piano at lightning speeds until he learns a professional level solo piece. He can read a library in a day and retain the information as long as he uses it; sadly his attention wanders quickly off the path and can be distracted into learning something entirely different than what he intended. Ask him to memorize a series of bank vault plans, but then don’t ask him to know about ant species because that’s all he’s going to talk about. Pietro is a polyglot and knows several different languages by heart, including English, French, German and Sokovian. He’s also ambidextrous and has an excellent sense of direction and balance. Also, he’s a good runner but that goes without saying.
