<XS> Isra's Room - FL3

Clean and spartan, this room appears even more spacious than even the average staff accommodations. What furniture it does contain has been pushed against the walls or into corners. Framed prints of galaxies and nebulae adorn the walls, but no other decorations are evident. A sizeable computer tower sits beneath the desk, hooked up to several high-end peripherals and three LCD monitors on rotating bases.

KNOCKKNOCKKNOCKNOCK. Veryfast, very /knocky/. Shane has never really been known for his overabundance of patience. At the moment he is outside the door to Isra's room, bouncing up onto his toes as he KNOCKS. He is very sharply-dressed, as he often is, pale linen slacks, vest, dress shirt though its sleeves have been rolled and cuffed and buttoned in place above his elbows.

Behind him, Sebastian is less impatient. He waits, peeking over his brother's shoulder, with hands clasped behind his back. He wears a short pleated skirt, sunshiney-yellow, and a pink sleeveless top. No shoes. Huge black eyes focused on the door.

A muffled thud can be heard from inside the room. A few seconds later, Isra answers the door in a white jersey sun dress--as casual as she will go outside of exercise, fighting, and hunting. Wings held slightly relaxed, she fills almost the entire doorway. Her green eyes are just a bit bleary, and she wears a perplexed look on her face. "Good day, Shane, Bastian. Please come in." She steps partly behind the door, folding her wings in closer to make room for her guests to pass her. "How may I help you?"

Beside her desk lies a heap of books, binders, journals, and papers. The visible titles read along the lines of 'Protostellar Dynamics' and 'Journal of the Royal Astronomical Society', with the odd 'Landmark Cases in Race-based Discrimination' and even a copy of 'Moby-Dick: or, The Whale'. The mess stands in stark contrast to the rest of Isra's room.

"Hi, Professor." From behind Shane, Sebastian gives Isra a quick small smile. He nudges his brother ahead of him into the room.

"Yo!" Shane's smile is brighter, wider. "We wake you?" He doesn't apologize for this, just continues into the room, glancing around in curiosity.

"Sorry." Sebastian does apologize, sheepish, his head ducking slightly. "Professor, do you like games? There's --"

"-- /pfft/ fuck games, do you like /Dusk/?" Shane's brows lift, questioning.

"You did wake me," Isra says, bemused, "but I had not intended to doze off, so it was probably for the best." She picks up a couple of loose papers from the floor and puts them on her desk, then seems to give up on the mess altogether. Straightening up, she raises one bald eyebrow ridge at Bastian's question, then the other at Shane's.

"I have not done much gaming," she admits, "and I would not be averse to trying! Dusk..." Her tail lashes the air a bit more rapidly and it is wont. "Of course I like him, what do you--are these two questions related in some way?" She crosses her arms, a faint smile belying stern tone.

"Yeah, totally." Shane glances down to the lashing tail, and then back up to Isra's face. "You busy tonight? 'cuz you and he should totally --"

"-- It's his birthday," Sebastian cuts in swiftly, hooking an arm around Shane's waist and tugging him sharply in closer. "And there's a party! Well, kindof. At his place they have game night /every/ Tuesday? But /this/ Tuesday it's his birthday so it's like --"

"-- Game Night with extra cake," Shane explains brightly. "Well, okay, there's usually cake. It's probably basically no different than any other game night at all, really. Uh. But. You should still --"

"-- come! It's really fun."

"For a nerd thing." Shane leans against Sebastian's side, still tipping a bright grin up at Isra.

"Ah, the legendary Game Night!" Isra nods, leaning back against her desk. "I have heard so much about it. I should be happy to attend, except..." Her frown creases skin in an unusual pattern because of her horns, but it is brief. "Do you suppose it would /disruptive/ for a complete gaming newbie to show up at such an event? I would not wish to annoy the veterans, nor impede their enjoyment of the games."

Sebastian shakes his head. "No, it'd be totally okay. I mean." Here, for a very brief moment, his teeth /do/ flash before he closes his lips self-consciously again. "I bring Shane and he's terrible at everything."

Shane snorts, digging an elbow into his brother's side. "... yeahok that's true I don't really know shit about games I mostly just annoy Bastian poking over his shoulder. But -- no, it's kinda -- mostly like a --"

"Social thing? I mean, there's always games. But there's always /dinner/, too, and there's people who come and pretty much never play, they just eat food and hang out. But the people who come and /want/ to play, everyone's fine with --"

"-- teaching, I mean, you should see my pa. He's pretty much clueless. It's really laid-back, though, I think they do their /serious/ intensive nerding on --" Shane frowns, abruptly. "Actually I don't know if they still --"

"We used to have a tabletop campaign but um, weekend nerd-time sort of. I mean, Ian was GMing." Bastian shrugs. "-- You'll be definitely welcome, though."

Isra smiles wider, and her tail sways faster again. If she is aware of this at all, she gives no indication, and when she speaks her voice is as calm and measured as usual. "In that case, I should be delighted to attend. Should I bring something--food, drink, and such? I know your father probably has the food front covered, but if there are to be more guests than usual..." She taps her chin, eyes wandering upward. "Or a birthday present, for that matter? I really do not know what to get him."

"People bring food if they want to bring food! Mmm. Pa cooks a lot and bakes dessert but other people bring snacks or -- drinks?" Sebastian suggests, uncertainly.

"You're already going to be bringing Dusk's /favourite/ drink," Shane adds with a sharp grin. "Other than that I don't know, he likes, uh. Geek shit. And --" He shrugs a shoulder. "Skateboarding around like he's stuck in the 90s."

"I think he'll just be happy that you're there. It's been kind of, um, a rough summer." Sebastian's nose crinkles, his gills flaring for a moment. "Sometimes it's nice to have a break from that."

"I shall take that into advisement. Some apple cider, perhaps..." Isra still looks deep in thought. "If you have not arranged transportation, by the way, you are welcomed to ride with me. I might head into the City early to pick up a few things, however."

"Oh, we just came out here with Pa. Though actually I don't know when /he's/ heading back if it's later maybe going with you would be better," Sebastian decides, rocking back a half-step to rest one foot behind the other.

"Oh man I am out of here with whoever is the quickest to get out of here. He /does/ like hard cider --"

"/You/ like hard cider," Sebastian interrupts with a laugh. "He likes it non-alcoholic just fine. -- Will you let me know when you're heading out, ma'am? I'll be down by the water."

Isra chuckles, shaking her head. "It will be /soft/ cider. I would not know good hard cider if I were swimming in it." She cants her head. "If I /can/ swim at all. I shall have to try it before the summer is out...but not today! I will come down to fetch you around five."

She straightens up to her full height before settling back to a comfortable five-foot-ten. "In the meantime, enjoy the pleasant weather out there. And thank you for inviting me."

"Dusk swims, but he's really fucking slow. I think the wings are crazy drag." Shane shrugs, looping his arm through his brother's and starting for the door.

"We'll totally help teach you if you ever want to try! Or just spot you. I make a good lifeguard." Sebastian smiles, bright, for a moment. "Five. 'Kay. See you!" And then he is gone, tugged by his brother to enjoy the day."
