Introduction

xxxxxOn the surface, and it is a very thick surface, Rahne comes across as quiet, shy, and reserved. Her strict religious upbringing has bred a conservative nature in her, from her mannerisms to her preferred style of dress, especially for a teenaged girl. She is slow to trust, but becomes a steadfast friend when she gets to that point, and those that know her well and that she is comfortable around get to see a mischievous, almost spunky side to her. Though she has gotten better, Rahne struggles with occasional self-loathing brought about by her mutation, and the secret joy she takes in what many perceive to be monstrous forms.

History

xxxxxBorn in Ross and Cromarty, Scotland, Rahne Sinclair was taken in at a very early age by the Reverend Craig after her mother died. The fiery Scottish Presbyterian pastor raised Rahne with a strict hand, and she learned to cook and clean and keep house, to be pious, and to be quiet and learn the teachings of the Lord under his guidance, while most other children attended school.

When Rahne’s mutation manifested, turning her into a wolf-like beast straight from the olden tales of werewolves, the Reverend Craig was convinced that she was possessed by a demon. Before he could perform an exorcism, however, Rahne fled and stumbled into perhaps the one person who could help her the most, Dr. Moira MacTaggert. MacTaggert, recognizing what had really happened, took the girl in and adopted her.

Rahne spent some time with MacTaggert, slowly creeping little by little out of her incredibly thick shell, until it was decided that she should attend Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters; a place where she could be around others her own age and be in an actual classroom setting to learn about everything there is in the world.

Powers

xxxxxRahne is a specific metamorph, only able to shift between a human and wolf form, and various states between. She also experiences different levels of strength and agility, and enjoys heightened hearing, a heightened sense of smell and a minor accelerated healing factor in her transitional and full wolf forms. Her fur is a reddish-brown color.

As a full wolf, Rahne is around the same size and stature as most female gray wolves. Her hearing and sense of smell are incredibly keen in this form, although colors appear duller in her vision than in her human form. Complex puzzles and equations also seem to elude her in this form, and telepaths that can read her will find she thinks in a simpler sentence structure.

Rahne is also able to take a transitional form that is half-woman, half-wolf, reminiscent of the werewolf monstrosities of Hollywood thrillers. Her mass increases in an unexplained manner, gaining both height and musculature that makes her a formidable beast. Her strength increases nearly tenfold, and she is able to deal a wallop of a blow, with or without vicious claws. Her senses and mental faculties appear to fall about halfway between her human and wolf states in this form. This form also requires a lot of energy to burn, and is difficult for her to maintain for long periods; afterwards, she requires a lot of calories and rest to make up for it.

Finally, Rahne has been working on selective metamorphosis, where she only transforms parts of her physiology to benefit from either claws, or better hearing, or sense of smell while still in a mostly human form. This has proven to be very difficult, though she keeps trying with little successes in baby steps. So far, when she attempts this, she usually winds up covered in a coat of fur, finer than her wolf form but still fur, that gives her away.

Connections

Family(?)

  • Moira MacTaggert: Adoptive mum. Rahne misses her ridiculous amounts. Her long-distance phone bill would be insane if not for a call-anywhere plan.
  • The Reverend Craig: Former adoptive erm... clergy. Rahne does not miss him very much. He should probably be down in Foes, but she doesn't have the heart to realize that yet.

Friends

  • Peter: Apparently has the unspoken mutant power of making Rahne turn various shades of red.
  • Kris: Has a knack for coaxing Rahne out of her shell.

Foes

  • Coming soon.

And everything in between

  • Coming soon.
